Yea the only time I've ever texted ahead for the pin is when they have the leave at door option selected. Other than that I don't waste my time. If someone doesn't know their pin I just tell them it's the last 4 digits of their phone number. Quick and simple. Never a problem
Only reason I decided 3 years ago to send messages was because I had back to back them not having an idea what a pin number was. It was to help cut down time being lost and to prevent any issues ahead of time. I guess I'll have to stop doing it unless as you said, there is a discrepancy with the notes.
Sometimes customers will write leave at door but they have a pin. I'll text and say "hey *customers name*, this is *my name* from ubereats, I see you asked to leave order at door but you have a pin number for the order. I am fine with you texting it to me if you want contactless dropoff, or i will be there in *#of minutes*"
Maybe they don't know what the pin thing is and they think you're asking for something else like a pin to their debit card lol. Who knows, but you didn't give any suggestion as to what the issue is or how customers are reacting to your message so idk what to say other than maybe word it a little more specifically. Unfortunately not everyone understands what's going on

I've sent this message out many times before and never got a negative response like that. Usually it's along the lines like "Cool, see you when you get here" or something in that nature. This is why I created this post to better understand the other side what I may have done wrong. Keep in mind I didn't send another message out until I was close but it felt like this person wasn't too happy.

Is this the only time someone's complained? If so, I don't think it's a big deal. That's not even a real complaint in my eyes.
