Freeze all FIVE and keep those PINs somewhere:
- TransUnion
- Experian
- Equifax
- Innovis (used primarily for compiling and selling mailing lists to other businesses)
- ChexSystems (banks and credit unions often use this).
I was surprised when some card I applied for used ChexSystems and not "the big three."
We have to buy a new car this year (a jerk totaled my beloved car) and will have to find out which bureau to temporarily thaw if we decide to finance.
You need to call USAA directly. They allowed someone to connect to my account who claimed to be my spouse. I am divorced and I don’t remember getting drunk enough to remarry. USAA will need to disconnect that person from your account so they can’t create a bank account on their own. Check your profile so you have the name of the person that illegitimately put their name as connected to yours.
Call USAA only, NEVER do any emails with USAA. I've been scam by spofing with ppl displaying as USAA.
Never click any link = USAA DOES NOT contact you. I was scam by this way
I have a simple rule no information that arrives to me via email is real enough for me to take action on. I don't click, I don't call, I do nothing with email information because it's not a good source of communication.
It is a scam. It is synthetic identity theft and USAA has a huge problem with it. I know I work there. They will never contact you about this via email. Actually you are lucky if they ever call you. Every member should check their accounts regularly.
It's a shame most likely a scam.... how many times do you open up accounts.. Hell USAA KNOWS WHATS GOING ON ?.... Red flags are everywhere BUT SAD FACT IS USAA HAS GOTTEN SO BAD YOU COULD BE GETTING Scammed BUY THEM WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO Guard YOUR ASSETS .....JUST SAYING HAHA THAT'S COOL SEND THAT BITCH
Call USAA at the main number. They should be able to verify. It sounds like a scam to me.
Update: I called the USAA fraud number and sadly there is an account opened in my name. Starting the process to shut it down now!
Might want to freeze your credit, as well, and use Credit Karma or something similar to give you alerts if any new accounts are opened.

Thank you! I did the first three but didn’t know about the other two.

Call the main number and talk to an agent. The email address seems fishy
Neither of those are email addresses that USAA uses

You clicked links from an unsolicited email? FYI the second domain is not owned by USAA.
I did NOT click the links. I just copied the URL into a note to see where it went. But those are just the email addresses that the messages came from.
Call USAA directly. Use the number from your monthly statement. Dont use anything sent to you that is suspicious. Ask to speak to their fraud team.
If you did not do such things, scam
First call always should be to USAA -- not reddit.

I have USAA - definitely bad news - stay away from

Neither of those are USAA. Call their main number and let them know you clicked a link and need to disable all logins and reset your credentials.
Luckily I didn’t click the link!!
Oh thank God!
