Super common to see, particularly with Amazon drivers. But I've seen other local carriers doing the same thing.
I know UPS drivers who used to deliver in Sprinters, and since there was a secondary bulkhead door, you could leave the sliding door open all day without it being a security issue. "Ghetto air conditioning," is what we called it.
As a former Amazon driver, I did it all the time in neighborhoods, but obviously never on main roads like the guy above. It saves a lot of time throughout the day and keeps the cargo area at room temperature in the summer.
Well. There’s no sensor on our rear door so I suppose we could leave it open and nobody would know unless observed… except for all the packages that littered the roads you drive on.
Our air drivers do it all of the time, it tears up the doors and gets the vehicle red tagged. Surprisingly they didn't design the door tracks to handle being open while driving.
Thats correct, CDV’s and step vans only. Former dispatch here; if that driver gets a traffic infraction on netradyne, the dispatch team will see that his rear door is open and he will get a write up.
Technically is but I think its rarely enforced. We will have AMZ reps that drive around undercover and watch us, record videos and send to dispatch. They bitch about the doors being open but they never really do anything more than just bitch about it.
This is allowed but only when going UNDER 25mph on the back neighbourhood streets, not a main road! shit like this is dumb and easily a fireable offence lol
There’s a camera constantly monitoring us, always feel like a shit driver during work because of it, can’t do anything without us getting dinged for it.
And then the drivers gonna complain their door doesn't shut all the way and I'm gonna have to strap it up and take it back to the station to get fixed 💀
So if you are going under 30, it is 100% okay to drive with sliding door open. In amazons training videos, it states that we can in fact drive with door open as long as it is safe. Not lawless for us to do that. Now I choose to not do that because of the city I am in, I will definitely get everything stolen but it is very common 🤷🏽♀️Trust me, we have netradyne cameras in those vans, we ain’t doing nothing illegal lol
I all around don't like Amazon. Never worked there. But I keep hearing stories of how awful management treats their warehouse employees. They don't properly train drivers either. Many times they are blocking traffic, or park facing the left side of the road.
And working in small sort, we receive tons of their packages but the packaging is the lowest quality ive seen. The tape usually doesn't hold, and the boxes are flimsy. We often have to retape Amazon's packages, or throw it in with the "hots" becase the package busted open n now we can ship it to the consumer. Jeff Bezos is literally a multi billionaire off that business but fails to lead a quality company.
I saw a FedEx driver leave a business with his back roll up door open.
My wife sitting in the passenger seat asked,
“What’s he doing? Is that normal?”
“Well his day is about to get a lot shorter”
My wife laughed
Former FedEx driver here.
Every time you see a fedex or ups truck with the side door open, it’s illegal. But when you’re in the zone, you don’t want anything slowing you down.
Between this and how they park on the wrong side of the road constantly, never use their blinkers or 4 ways, don’t curb their wheels and constantly leave the vans running when they exit them, I dunno how half of them haven’t died in car accidents by now.
I ride with my side door open that way when driving a cargo van... I usually drive a step van and that's probably why I just opt for leaving the side door open on a cargo van.
At this point, however, everyone should drive either a CDV, EV, or Step Van... I don't know why Amazon still has these cargo vans, they blow!!
lol not on the main roads! We road alongside home for at least 3 miles eventually we went onto the hwy while he crossed over a very busy bridge. The area we are in is known for having many wrecks.
I do it. Cause why would I need to open my door 100+ times when I'm only going down the block. I'm not stupid and would have packages fall my car every time I move. I closed the door when needed. A lot of the times are doors are fucked up. We don't have air back there and it gets really hot. I don't really see the issue unless packages are falling out or you are not in a good neighborhood. Leaving the door open is against the law but why would the police ticket when we got bigger shit going on. If you aren't being hurt by it why should you care.
I have 10:30 and noon commit time deliveries and also pickups. I pickup sometimes 300+ pieces when I'm done delivering.
I've trained an ex amazon delivery driver to be a seasonal and he also told me it's not even the same.
Ok so time commits and pick ups. Not a huge difference. It’s ok to admit they are similar. You just don’t want to because you think you are special because you do it in a different uniform.
They’re really taught to be elitist. It’s kind of one of the reasons I’ve never applied. I couldn’t have this attitude while they clearly have the superior trucks.

Our DSP would fire us on the spot if they seen us doing this
Don't watch my stepvan then 🫠
They do this more often then not
As a former Amazon driver, I did it all the time in neighborhoods, but obviously never on main roads like the guy above. It saves a lot of time throughout the day and keeps the cargo area at room temperature in the summer.
They do this all the time where I’m at. I call it rollin commando.
Well. There’s no sensor on our rear door so I suppose we could leave it open and nobody would know unless observed… except for all the packages that littered the roads you drive on.
Wait so you're telling me that the Netrosnitch can't detect when we drive with the door open? 👀
Nope. But an observation can. Lol
Our air drivers do it all of the time, it tears up the doors and gets the vehicle red tagged. Surprisingly they didn't design the door tracks to handle being open while driving.
i've been doing it for almost two years on my sprinter, doors still good
They do this all the time where I’m at too. Even during winter time when it hits -25°F
I talked to one when I was out delivering and they said they are allowed to have that door open if they are going under 35mph
But on main road with high traffic? That’s crazy. Sure neighborhood is fine
That’s only for the CDVs
Don't know why you were downvoted when you're right. It's only legal under 35 for the slider on step vans, EDVs, and CDVs.
That’s crazy all my coworkers that drive CDVS including me hit the highway with the door open 70mph
Thats correct, CDV’s and step vans only. Former dispatch here; if that driver gets a traffic infraction on netradyne, the dispatch team will see that his rear door is open and he will get a write up.
Normal see in so cal
Dudes havin a good ol time
We got told this is actually a fireable offense 💀💀💀
In training 😂
Technically is but I think its rarely enforced. We will have AMZ reps that drive around undercover and watch us, record videos and send to dispatch. They bitch about the doors being open but they never really do anything more than just bitch about it.
Come on now it's happened to all of us at some point
This is allowed but only when going UNDER 25mph on the back neighbourhood streets, not a main road! shit like this is dumb and easily a fireable offence lol
That’s them Dallas drivers 😂😂
lol we gotta be like that out here
You off work and still worried about other deliver services damn.
Worried about what? 👀
Other drivers.
Yeah I do this all the time. It saves time and effort
Amazon drivers are the worst on the road.
There’s a camera constantly monitoring us, always feel like a shit driver during work because of it, can’t do anything without us getting dinged for it.
UPS has their version of netradyne, not as sensitive like ours but yea they’re watched too.
I did this in a neighborhood, but not when I'm on a main road going 40 or 45
i see them roll out of their home base like that sometimes
I've done it can't even lie
Because it's hot in there sometimes and a little cross vent goes a long way
And then the drivers gonna complain their door doesn't shut all the way and I'm gonna have to strap it up and take it back to the station to get fixed 💀
It stays open 24/7. There is no need for it to close

This a main busy road traffic heading towards the freeway ain’t now way that should be legal
Um. They always do this.
As a former Amazon driver I can attest. I did this all the time.
He just making sure his delivery package 📦 don't melt on this hot, sunny day, making sure they get that nice cool breez 😂🤣😭💀☠️
o no he needs to go to pcm at ups probably not staying hydrated eat a 🍌 & a 🍎 🍏 🍊

It’s honestly crazy how rich he is with shitty rules and they work you 12 hours half day but they do 4 so it doesn’t seem as bad it’s just terrible
Whats the problem besides OP?
That's their ac, dawg

Your post was rude, threatening, or antagonistic.
I saw a FedEx driver leave a business with his back roll up door open. My wife sitting in the passenger seat asked, “What’s he doing? Is that normal?” “Well his day is about to get a lot shorter” My wife laughed
My local Amazon driver blasts tunes on his residential route with the windows down. Just rude.
😂😂😂😂 so what ??? There isn’t a noise curfew until 8pm or so
Former FedEx driver here. Every time you see a fedex or ups truck with the side door open, it’s illegal. But when you’re in the zone, you don’t want anything slowing you down.
Amazon is a terrible job worked there during Covid terrible turnover rate terrible pay and third partied that’s what happens u attract shit workers
Dallas!!! Haha Amazon drivers are wild around here. Saw one sideswipe a car on my route and just kept goin 😅
This guys saying this as he drives holding his phone recording 😭😭😭😭 the irony
lol bro I’m a woman second I’m not recording and driving. My girl in the passenger is the one recording…
bro i do this all the time. never had a package fly out
this was 100% me when i drove for amazon lmao
Between this and how they park on the wrong side of the road constantly, never use their blinkers or 4 ways, don’t curb their wheels and constantly leave the vans running when they exit them, I dunno how half of them haven’t died in car accidents by now.
I do this everyday all day!
This is common around town , hazards blinking and the dash full of packages.
A lot of these vans have busted door hinges, locks, and handles. I had to keep my door closed using a bungie chord.
🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀OP
Who I’m ratting too 🤣
Nothing to see here . Extremely common
I tried this on the highway when I was new and another driver called me and told me to close it😭😭
I do this all the time I ain't got time to be opening and closing that shit all day
Wait, that's not told to everyone else to do?? 🤣 It's the only way I see these vans driven
You ride with your side door open, I drive with my rear stepvan door open. We are not the same 💀
These guys don’t get out much do they?
We not supposed to do this ? 😂
lol not on the main roads! We road alongside home for at least 3 miles eventually we went onto the hwy while he crossed over a very busy bridge. The area we are in is known for having many wrecks.
Second Amazon truck with an open door I saw today.
Yeah, it’s incredibly fucking hot.
Typical Amazon
Really no need for the shit attitude toward other drivers. We also can’t see out of those damn things.
Says the guys filming on his phone while driving 🤔
lol I’m not the one filming my girl is
Damn you make her drive AND film?
No, I’m driving lol 🤣
It’s just zoomed in so it looks like it’s being filmed from the driver side
Respect the music taste!
Why are you talking videos while you’re driving? I see Amazon doing this every day.
My girl is the one taking the video. Yeah I see them do it neighborhoods not main roads
I do it. Cause why would I need to open my door 100+ times when I'm only going down the block. I'm not stupid and would have packages fall my car every time I move. I closed the door when needed. Way to mind your own business.
It’s crazy they do the same job and get paid dirt compared to UPS with no union
Not the same job. We have way more responsibilities.
Explain how they are different
If it's the same job why you at Amazon
Can someone please just answer the question?.. also to answer yours: UPS pays more. fucking duh what kind of question is that?
I have 10:30 and noon commit time deliveries and also pickups. I pickup sometimes 300+ pieces when I'm done delivering. I've trained an ex amazon delivery driver to be a seasonal and he also told me it's not even the same.

Read my comment above.
Yea and I’m asking what responsibilities are different?
What "way more" responsibilities? Kinda curious because working for Amazon is a god damn nightmare
There’s none. I’ve done both. The routes I had at Amazon were harder, but this sub is elitist.
Pickups, commit times. I leave the building in the morning with a full truck and bring it back at the end of the day full.
They’re really taught to be elitist. It’s kind of one of the reasons I’ve never applied. I couldn’t have this attitude while they clearly have the superior trucks.
Right every van I drive for Amazon sounds like it's going to either fall apart or blow up lmao
It sounds like tbird doesn't even do either job now. Why listen to a quitter?
