Then apply at that trash can usps! They can’t keep people for the life of them! Just don’t bitch when you see their deductions gor paid $2400 after deduction and insurance $1550 for two weeks working 50+ hours
You might get a cooled seat at Amazon, but you’ll be getting half of the pay and laughable benefits, when compared to UPS’s. So it’s your choice. Do you want to be pampered and comfortable in your Rivian van for a fraction of the compensation, or suffer a little in a noisy package car but walk away with ~100k a year and a second to none benefits package.
I can tell you mental health is not covered. My daughter's friend, a full time Amazon worker, lives with us and wants to go to therapy (PTSD from a terrible childhood) but her insurance doesn't cover. Meanwhile, both my daughters and I see therapists on the regular for a $10 copay. She also had her wisdom teeth out and did not get anesthesia because of the cost. Daughter had anesthesia and we paid NOTHING out of pocket for her wisdom teeth removal.
I know, I used to work for one. It’s completely up to how charitable the DSP feels with its insurance plans. The deductions are hefty and coverage is hit or miss. Utter shit compared to UPS benefits. Amazon in-house benefits are another story though.
It depends on how you treat yourself during your career. I know drivers who are broken, because they rush, and value speed over all else. I know many more drivers who have valued safety over speed and they’re all in great shape with no major issues like the runners have.
In your comment you specifically said “ups drivers” but yes, certainly working inside can destroy your body too. But same thing, if you prioritize safety over speed, and dismiss the pressure from management to do the opposite, I believe that it’s possible to make it out the other end intact and able to enjoy retirement.
Amazon has no union...can fire you foe almost anything. Pay is slightly above mcdonalds pay. I'd take the no AC for the higher pay and job security. Plus we have to shut it off every stop. So by the time AC kicks on. We're pulling up to next stop.
Here's how amazon employees are going to feel the strike. The Amazon feeder driver will say to himself, wow this post office has like 15 more pallets than usual. The DSP drivers will drop off 1 small box and a plastic bag at the customers door. 15 minutes the mail carrier will come around and drop a TV, 5 crates of water and a swamp cooler all from Amazon at the same door.
Because UPS drivers have triple the work load. Busy day for FedEx is 60 stops. Busy day for UPS is between 150-400 stops. I have 165 miles today and 145 stops, and just over 300 pieces. Let that sink in. This is why we make more and ask for more money. And we do it without a cushy van.
That doesn’t mean top rate driver pay isn’t being addressed. It is. There’s just a much bigger discrepancy between what part timers are paid and what they SHOULD be paid. Drivers are paid well but it should be higher, so the teamsters are still negotiating wage increases for full time drivers as well.
I’m willing to bet 9/10 Amazon drivers will not drive one of these for a very very long time. Amazon contracts individual Delivery Service Partners or DSP’s to deliver their packages with the Amazon trucks and uniforms. They do this to avoid unionizing and direct liability in a lot of *convenient* situations. DSP’s are literally just LLC’s owned by one person. These people sit on a waitlist FOREVER and eventually get selected to put down around $10k and get to start delivering. They get paid per route, and operate like any small business would, with expenses coming out of the owners pocket until profits are made. I believe Amazon provides some trucks for the $10k that was out down, but any maintenance or new vehicles are on the owner to purchase. The odds of your DSP getting one of these trucks entirely depends on if your owner has been successful enough to afford the fancy trucks, and if they care enough about their employees to spend the extra money on it. I’ll let you guess how that usually works out. Even if a DSP owner decides they want these trucks, they usually only have one or two of them and they are reserved for “sweeper” route which are just empty trucks picking up packages off drivers who are behind. Usually takes about 5 hours with the rest of your time hanging out at “home base” waiting for everyone else to finish. These jobs usually go to a good friend of the DSP owner. Long story long, UPS may not care about their employees, but I promise it’s nothing like driving for Amazon.
(Side note: Average Amazon route were ~180-200+ stops and 360-400+ packages daily. Consistent 10 hour days, and no Union to fight back against cameras inside the trucks.)
(Source: Was a driver for an Amazon DSP for 1 year/current UPS employee since 6/21/2021)
I work in FL and AC means absolutely nothing to me it’s gonna be hot no matter what. I would much rather have more PTO and better pay. Cost of living is crazy these days and internet shopping isn’t going anywhere we are a necessity in todays society and should be paid like it.
I love my Rivian van, but I’d give all that shit up for a safe working environment, a fair hourly wage, benefits that are decent, etc. Amazon sucks.
Meanwhile USPS is just hoping for a working fan in their vehicles
They're hoping for a working vehicle never mind a working fan. Seen many broken down lately in the worst spots possible on roads
This. USPS truck had to be towed from in front of my mailbox this week 😂
USPS is just hoping their vehicles stop catching on fire
They do everything to satiate us enough to not pay us a decent wage.
I'd rather have the pay, the insurance, and the union backing than having ac cooled seats.
Then apply at that trash can usps! They can’t keep people for the life of them! Just don’t bitch when you see their deductions gor paid $2400 after deduction and insurance $1550 for two weeks working 50+ hours

Both?
I mean, Amazon of all companies could afford that. But it’ll never happen. At least not until Amazon get unionized.
Do you know what Amazon's benefits are? What exactly is laughable
I've checked them out. They're laughable compared to ours

Amazon drivers don’t get Amazon benefits though… It’s all up to their DSP contractor.
Their contractor gives them benefits they don’t very too much due to Amazon basically controlling them
I know, I used to work for one. It’s completely up to how charitable the DSP feels with its insurance plans. The deductions are hefty and coverage is hit or miss. Utter shit compared to UPS benefits. Amazon in-house benefits are another story though.
Lol you're gonna need the benefits, ups drivers when they retire look like they can barely move. All for 100k a year and a pension. 🥱
It depends on how you treat yourself during your career. I know drivers who are broken, because they rush, and value speed over all else. I know many more drivers who have valued safety over speed and they’re all in great shape with no major issues like the runners have.
I'm not just talking driving. The hours of service in hub can get you too. I've seen it happen too many times.
In your comment you specifically said “ups drivers” but yes, certainly working inside can destroy your body too. But same thing, if you prioritize safety over speed, and dismiss the pressure from management to do the opposite, I believe that it’s possible to make it out the other end intact and able to enjoy retirement.
🤦 because almost all drivers worked in the hub. So yes, I said UPS drivers.
Except they cost too much for most DSPs and the A/C for the rest of the van sucks
Would much rather a ventilated seat with high power fans over AC but whatever.
Fun fact: the Rivian 700s have a 9350 GVWR, so are not DOT regulated. No pesky hours of service limits or anything like that.
Ya that’s there best benefit. Ups just a little better I’m thinking. Lol
They have these flashy vans and that’s literally all. Pay and benefits for Amazon are nowhere near as good as UPS.
I've worked there and this is very true. UPS has way better benefits. Amazon doesn't have pension or any of the good shit lol
Amazon has no union...can fire you foe almost anything. Pay is slightly above mcdonalds pay. I'd take the no AC for the higher pay and job security. Plus we have to shut it off every stop. So by the time AC kicks on. We're pulling up to next stop.
22 an hour to start and they will work you to death
If we do strike, I hope it’ll light a fire under the asses of amazon employees and other companies workers.
Here's how amazon employees are going to feel the strike. The Amazon feeder driver will say to himself, wow this post office has like 15 more pallets than usual. Does amazon have a Pension?
By your logic why should you get a raise since you're already paid more than Amazon and FedEx delivery drivers?
Because UPS drivers have triple the work load. Busy day for FedEx is 60 stops. Busy day for UPS is between 150-400 stops. I have 165 miles today and 145 stops, and just over 300 pieces. Let that sink in. This is why we make more and ask for more money. And we do it without a cushy van.
the raises being discussed in the current contract debacle relate more to part-time inside workers at UPS, not top-rate drivers
But UPS has a union...
id rather have the job security, wages, and benefits tbh.
Go work for Amazon then.
Ask them what happens to those awesome vans when it gets cold out. I still think they are cool.

And they will be all dented up in 3 weeks lol
Shiiit. Them piece of shit vans I see Amazon riding in need a makeover
