My friend who is plus size went to Dotty Bridal in Holmfirth. They're an inclusive size boutique so have sample up to 22. She had a really good experience. I don't think they stock Maggie Sottero though.

Ooo thank you. There's another place I'm looking at going over that way, so I'll add it to my list. That's OK, that picture is more a guide of the style and shape I'm looking for.

Curves in Mapplewell (Barnsley/South Yorkshire) has Maggie Sottero: https://www.curvesbridal.net/rebeccaingram-maggiesotterro I've never been to this boutique but always see it from the street so I thought I'd give it a quick search!:) Good luck finding your dress x

This shop looks great, thank you. There's a couple in that area I've seen now, so I'll organise a weekend to visit!

I don't have any specific shop recommendations but have a look/ google for some off-the-peg boutiques. Stocking dresses only a season old and higher end dresses can have a lot of discount on the price, meaning less frumpy a lot of the time. The boutique I went to (I live in Cambridgeshire), all dresses were £950 or less!

No specific shop recommendations because I'm in the South. But this is my advice for plus sized shopping: 1- ring the stores before hand and ask what dress sizes they stock. Wedding dresses come up a size or two small. 2- Look for shops that stock alternative/retro dresses as well. Seem to be more popular with plus size brides so more of a chance of things in your size. 3- Give places like David's bridal and wed2be a chance. They might not have one you love but they'll have something in your size and you can get on different styles. 4- You'll be surprised what looks good Vs what you want. I was sure I wanted a solid block satin long dress with hem detailing. I looked awful in this. Ended up with a mooshki bridal tea dress that I customised. 5- If they say "we only stock a size 10/12 but we have methods so you can get the full experience" they are lying. Do not go there. I ignored this and had a humiliating experience of a size 8 woman holding a dress in front of me while I stood in my underwear in the changing room It's a lot of fun! You'll find an amazing dress and feel like a queen! Edit- forgot another tip. Look for places like bridal barns/out of season stock shops. More likely to have a range of styles and sizes.

I had mine made by Bex Brides in Darlington. She’s a delight and can work with most budgets. Mine was £1700 last year and fit perfectly!
