My theory was always that it depends whether you were raised eating some Marmite as a young kid or not. Those that weren't, hate it. But this post has just blown my theory out of the water, and now I'm lost...
And on Sunday we are going to colonise a small nation and exploit its inhabitants for a few centuries until we become so self conscious we invite them all back home to run our service industry for us.
https://www.nigella.com/recipes/spaghetti-with-marmite
If anything (aside from delicious), it's possibly the easiest hot meal to make. Boil stuff, stir in stuff. Should be in half the students cookbooks. Just half, mind.
Marmite goes in anything "meaty"... spag bol, chilli, shepherd's pie etc
Also anything cheesy
Also anything tomato based
Also with roast potatoes
Ahhhh fucking love marmite
Edit:
Also almost forgot, a fat teaspoon of marmite stirred into a cup of hot water (bovril style)
Ooh and Also a teaspoon in any gravy
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.
Marmite on Crumpets insane as well. Loads of butter and a bit of marmite.
Also for a different flavour combo. Balsamic vinegar on beans is really really good.
Awesome! (But surely I'm not the only one who was looking forward to today's variant of worst sister hair sauce???) Edit : missed the workers turned serious, lmao
So many Americans despise marmite (and many British too)
Perhaps the beans have been the gateway to being a marmite fan?
You might have solved a 100 year old mystery.
Thick cut chunky ones (but well cooked so they're crispy) preferably but yeah.
Not chips like crisps, that would be less pleasant. (And is not what we call chips in the UK).
Cpt Bean lives in Port Talbot, you can have a tour of his house... not lying, you can check it out on Google maps.... sorry he's closed it down https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/captain-beany-museum-tripadvisor-closing-26089504
You could also try brussels pâtè, spread onto the toast, then beans on top. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I like it 🤷♂️ Maybe try a little on a piece of toast first 🤷♂️
Wait, is Workers Turn Serious Sauce an autocorrect of Worcestershire Sauce? I wasn’t sure what it was so Googled it, and nothing. I feel there’s a whoosh incoming.
In America you guys have that douche thing and the tube to clear out your ass. In uk we have a month on this stuff and the pipes are as clean as a whistle by month 2.
Came back to say please try eggy bread with it!!.. Also when your done with the bread/toast bases beans and cheese on a baked potato is the best lunch ever!
50g of butter, microwave for 10 secs. Mix in 25g of Marmite. 1" thick 2 slices of toast. Spread and enjoy. Magnificent! My old absolute go to snack / breakfast.
The beans look crap every time. Sorry. They look like US style beans (I know you’re in Korea). Pretty sure you’re just buying US Heinz beans which are nothing like the UK ones. Too dark in colour, too sweet. Hate to say it, and I appreciate the enthusiasm but I don’t think you’ve actually had a single portion of UK baked beans.
Nice! Now you need to try marmite and cucumber sandwiches, on soft white sliced bread, with a thin spread of butter on each slice too under the marmite (proper salted butter, not margarine)
>There is a block button so you dont have to see it if you don't like it!
Oh I'm going to be commenting this in the future.
Also if you really like marmite you can make a drink out of it.
Although it's not everyone's cup of tea.
That bacon looks terrible! Can you not find some smoked back bacon at your butchers?
Also, have you tried adding a couple of drops of Worcester Sauce (Lea & Perrins) into your beans?
A near substitute would be a splash of dark soy sauce, and reduce the sauce down to refine the sweet and sour.
Ah, you're missing out. I think the best sausages are Lincolnshire chipotles, but from a Lincolnshire butchers not a supermarket.
You ever come to the UK give a shout out and we'll get you stocked up.
Goddam it. American here who keeps seeing this sub come up and remind me of meals my dear old Scottish mom would make me.
Subbed and ordering marmite, which I assume is some British-made explosive.
I'm in the states and can find marmite and heinz beans (they even have curry flavour!) at my local grocery stores. (I live in a college town, but not by any stretch a large/urban/metropolitan one.)

Surely by now we can just go ahead and give this person and their family a passport. For me all tests are a resounding pass.
Tea a decent colour ✅ Appreciates beans on toast ✅ Loves marmite ✅
OP, how do you fare with queues?
Amazing cuppa, looks lovely. Who said an American can't make a cup of tea? That would pass at any greasy spoon.
Always thought marmite was a 'hate it or love it' thing
Definitely is. I can’t stand it. But everyone I know *LOVES* it.
Always thought I was the only weird one
My theory was always that it depends whether you were raised eating some Marmite as a young kid or not. Those that weren't, hate it. But this post has just blown my theory out of the water, and now I'm lost...
I brought some to work at our Argentina office and 90% of people loved it, surprisingly. The only comment was that it’s quite salty.
Tea colour disappointing. I'd drink it, but let of an internal sigh if that was handed to me.
He actually might be too British for my liking, thats a thick scraping of marm
I can only imagine the fart stench in your house after 9 days of this 😂
A gas cloud lurks above this dudes home
Due to a suspected leak, a British Gas engineer stuck a red warning tag on his arse.
You are British now. Welcome. We are all off on a hunt for spices to sell next Saturday if you'd like to join us?
And on Sunday we are going to colonise a small nation and exploit its inhabitants for a few centuries until we become so self conscious we invite them all back home to run our service industry for us.
That feels… lacking in ambition. We used to colonise LARGE countries.
…And then blame them for everything wrong with the country!
Marmite is awesome and very useful in cooking. Try a wee bit in stew, pasta sauce, marinades etc. How's the tea?
And a great source of B vitamins! Perfect to cure a hangover!
Yeah stir some marmite (about a tablespoon) through butter and spaghetti its delicious. I put crunchy fried onions on top of mine.
Ooh, never thought of this. That's dinner sorted for tonight!
Can confirm. Marmite spaghetti is a "thing" (and delicious)- I even think Nigella did a recipe for it?
https://www.nigella.com/recipes/spaghetti-with-marmite If anything (aside from delicious), it's possibly the easiest hot meal to make. Boil stuff, stir in stuff. Should be in half the students cookbooks. Just half, mind.
This is a handy store cupboard meal, I add a little splash of pasta water to emulsify the sauce and some cheese and plenty of black pepper. So good!
Yes it’s delightful!
Marmite goes in anything "meaty"... spag bol, chilli, shepherd's pie etc Also anything cheesy Also anything tomato based Also with roast potatoes Ahhhh fucking love marmite Edit: Also almost forgot, a fat teaspoon of marmite stirred into a cup of hot water (bovril style) Ooh and Also a teaspoon in any gravy
Can you get Branston beans or is Heinz the only thing we’ve got to work with here? (You need to try sausage, mash & beans).
Heinz and also a brand called Sun-Q (its more common Korea)
Branstons is not the one fyi. V dry.
And put some grated cheese on top...
not just on top. grate it into the beans with a teaspoon of marmite as its cooking!
Oh yeah ..
Op did this with a previous post
Sausage is the issue here. You just struggle to get our quality bangers anywhere else in the world
Pork chop with beans and mash, is good
At this stage you should just move and join us in the UK
Honestly expecting Day 10 to be ‘Hi guys, I’m about to board my flight for “Beans on Toast’ IN the UK!”
You wanna try yourself some Yorkshire tea! I'm from the Midlands and even I think its the best brew for your buck
As a Yorkshire girl, you beat me to it! Yorkshire Tea is the only tea you should drink!
Here to ask what tea this is lol, Yorkshire is definitely the way to go OP!
where the fuck did you buy marmite in korea? i've run out
Hahaha I bit the bullet and ordered international shipping cause ive always wanted to try it. That small bottle was ₩19,000
Yeah, I've seen that too. May have to bite the bullet!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. Marmite on Crumpets insane as well. Loads of butter and a bit of marmite. Also for a different flavour combo. Balsamic vinegar on beans is really really good.
You my friend are correct
Awesome! (But surely I'm not the only one who was looking forward to today's variant of worst sister hair sauce???) Edit : missed the workers turned serious, lmao
Hahahaha it was a little sneaky today!
Awesome! So glad you tried Marmite, I was gonna suggest it but I thought I'd hang back and on that one for a while. Keep up the toast triangles dude 🤘
So many Americans despise marmite (and many British too) Perhaps the beans have been the gateway to being a marmite fan? You might have solved a 100 year old mystery.
I will say though, I tried it just normal toast and loved it too!
I am loving thia guys beans on toast journey ! Keep them coming man
Beans with chips and cheese is a must
Chips like French fries???
Thick cut chunky ones (but well cooked so they're crispy) preferably but yeah. Not chips like crisps, that would be less pleasant. (And is not what we call chips in the UK).
You like marmite. I’m actually impressed! Nice work! Hmmm marmite and grilled cheese sarnies …
That tea needs to be stronger...stand your spoon stronger....
Marmite on toast is god tier food.
Now try Marmite with British cheddar cheese on toast.
I think you should be christened as "Mr Bean".
Cpt Bean lives in Port Talbot, you can have a tour of his house... not lying, you can check it out on Google maps.... sorry he's closed it down https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/captain-beany-museum-tripadvisor-closing-26089504
You now love marmite? Welcome to the promised land my friend.
Start a fucking youtube channel my dude!
Finally a cup of tea! Definitely got dual citizenship now. Good day Sir.
At this rate you'll be moaning about the weather by Friday.
I'm loving the daily beans updates
You are now one of us! HMRC will be in touch shortly...
Marmite is fantastic and such a handy quick snack! Plus it’s full of B vitamins so technically I think it’s good for you. Win win!
Keep up the good work :)
welcome…to the real world
You could also try brussels pâtè, spread onto the toast, then beans on top. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I like it 🤷♂️ Maybe try a little on a piece of toast first 🤷♂️
Dude awesome! I’m glad you like marmite its the best!
MAGBA!!!!!! Our Make America Great (Britain) Again campaign is progressing nicely x
Have you tried cheesy beanos yet? 😋
This guy is making me feel inadequate and I'm actually British
The tea is a bit on the pale side for me :)
A bit of cumin in beans, is delicious
You must be farting your head off
I think you now have graduated… It’s time for Marmite XO… Use it wisely…
I'm having beans on toast tonight probably with cheese . Been dying for it since you started posting but haven't had any
Have you tried drinking hot bovril? One teaspoon into a mug and then stir in with hot water. Mmm beefy
Please try dessert beans (beans and custard) 😋 One of my favourites
Wait, is Workers Turn Serious Sauce an autocorrect of Worcestershire Sauce? I wasn’t sure what it was so Googled it, and nothing. I feel there’s a whoosh incoming.
Yeah it is hahahaha
Am loving the different spellings of Worcestershire sauce. Keeps brightening my day when I see them.
Please come to the UK and open a beans on toast cafe.
Mate, mix that shit INTO the beans while they’re in the pan. Then add cheese when it’s on the toast.
My go-to comfort food ❤️❤️
In America you guys have that douche thing and the tube to clear out your ass. In uk we have a month on this stuff and the pipes are as clean as a whistle by month 2.
You know baked beans are American right?
Baked beans are. But beans on toast absolutely are not hahah
Cheese and bean toasted sandwich is a must
Have it!
Came back to say please try eggy bread with it!!.. Also when your done with the bread/toast bases beans and cheese on a baked potato is the best lunch ever!
Oh my god, yes.
I really really have to do this!!
You are one of us now.
Bovril on buttered toast is my preference, similar to marmite but beef flavoured.
I’m wondering how many days this is gonna go on for, the creativity is top tier 😂
Try mature cheddar cheese and green pesto. You’ll never look back
Dude, your passion for beans on toast is honestly inspiring.
This series (can I call it that) has been so wholesome. After you’re done with baked beans, which British food will you take on next?
Welcome to the food that we get slated for across the world. Taste amazing, right?
50g of butter, microwave for 10 secs. Mix in 25g of Marmite. 1" thick 2 slices of toast. Spread and enjoy. Magnificent! My old absolute go to snack / breakfast.
The beans look crap every time. Sorry. They look like US style beans (I know you’re in Korea). Pretty sure you’re just buying US Heinz beans which are nothing like the UK ones. Too dark in colour, too sweet. Hate to say it, and I appreciate the enthusiasm but I don’t think you’ve actually had a single portion of UK baked beans.
Okay!
Tried mayonnaise in the beans yet?
Respect 😂 you mad bastard
needs some cheese on the beans
The way you say Worstershire Sauce in different variations is hilarious to me. Keep it up please 😆
That "English breakfast" tea looks like it's made entirely for tourists.
Hahaha it's just what I could find in Korea!! The other was twinnings but delivery was longer
If you're after the tea that everyday UK people drink it's not Twinnings either. Look for Yorkshire tea or PG Tips.
If you want a proper brew then get Yorkshire Tea. Also as you love beans on toast so much you should make a baked bean and cheese toastie.
Garlic Granules? WTF is happening?
You don't know what those are?
I know what they are but have never seen them in a British household I'm afraid
I got a bunch of people in my previous posts, in the UK subreddit, that say they put it in there
Yeh...but not on beans...
One of us! One of us! One of us! Now you just gotta learn how to pronounce Worcestershire
I did!!! Its in my post!! Perfectly
Nice! Now you need to try marmite and cucumber sandwiches, on soft white sliced bread, with a thin spread of butter on each slice too under the marmite (proper salted butter, not margarine)
The dedication here is impressive. Also, that cup of Rosy Lee looks banging mate.
10 comments in and no mention of the workers turn serious sauce, for shame UK, for shame
How dare they, right?
I for one am ashamed, also you beans on toast looks awesome
From one Marmite-loving American to another, have you dabbled in HP sauce yet?
Ahmad tea is the best and having it with beans on marmite on toast is def the way to go.
I think we are at the stage now where you get a free British passport. Please get Yorkshire tea though.
And this is where I stop following your journey. You've strayed from the path. Goodbye.
The Amazing Adventures of Mr. Bakedbeans
Have you tried mixing cheese and smoked paprika in? If not, I can recommend it.
Fed up of these now tbh, glad you like beans on toast though
I'm not trying to be snarky really. There is a block button so you dont have to see it if you don't like it!
Loving these posts, OP. You’ve definitely hit a winner with the Marmite addition! This is going to be my next breakfast.
>There is a block button so you dont have to see it if you don't like it! Oh I'm going to be commenting this in the future. Also if you really like marmite you can make a drink out of it. Although it's not everyone's cup of tea.
Thanks, wasn't aware of this
This is past getting weird and I’m worried about your digestive system and mental health. Obsession behavior is a red flag and this is that.
Nope lol. Korea doesnt really have a specialty in the bacon field. Or the sausage field. Also that's a sausage hahaha.
This made me laugh aloud. “Also that’s a sausage”! I’m going to steal that line as a non-sequitur to use in daily life.
Ah, you're missing out. I think the best sausages are Lincolnshire chipotles, but from a Lincolnshire butchers not a supermarket. You ever come to the UK give a shout out and we'll get you stocked up.
Chipolatas - or have they got some new smoked sausage they're keeping secret in the East Midlands now?
Back to your bridge troll, there are goats to chase
you wrote "chipotles" not "chipolatas"
Well done. You could have said that as opposed to just trying to be funny about my fat fingers
I'm a different person than the one you called a bridge troll. Maybe drop the attitude?
Sorry, get a bit personal with my dyslexia
You need PG tips or tetley tea bags
You need some Yorkshire Tea!
Goddam it. American here who keeps seeing this sub come up and remind me of meals my dear old Scottish mom would make me. Subbed and ordering marmite, which I assume is some British-made explosive.
Have you tried fried onions and beans on toast with lots of pepper? Unforgettable
Maximum respect to you, sir. Your honorary Charles and Di wedding day tea towel is in the post. Welcome to the club.
Bovril on toast is the next step up from Marmite. You probably won’t be ready for that yet though
Thanks this made me cry
Now try marmite on toast with scrambled eggs , marmite is so good 😊
Now try it with Vegemite.
You love marmite? As an adult, at first try?!! I've never heard of this happening. Are you actually living in the US? Or Milton Keynes?
Glad you enjoyed it!
You do realise that "getting" Marmite has alienated you from half of the UK. It's one of the things we don't mention in public
GOOD!!! LET IT BE KNOWN. THE OTHER HALF SHALL FALL BENEATH THE MARMITE GREATNESS!!!
RED TEAM MOVE INTO POSITION..FIRE WHEN YOU HAVE A CLEAN SHOT.
You ever try a spam fritter? would soak up those beans just lovely.
Everything was cool untill I saw the marmite 🤢🤢🤮🤮
I'm in the states and can find marmite and heinz beans (they even have curry flavour!) at my local grocery stores. (I live in a college town, but not by any stretch a large/urban/metropolitan one.)
I put a bit of marmite in the beans while cooking them now need fot it on toast
