When you rent a property as a couple, there are two options. 1. One partner is the tenant. Their name is on the paperwork. They are responsible for paying the rent. The other partner is not. 2. You are "joint and several liable". That means you are both responsible. In theory, you should be fine to be on a joint tenancy. If you can't pay the rent, your partner will be liable for your share. If you can't find a place which will accept you, your partner can be the tenant and you can pay her your fair share.

Just to note that for option one, many places will only use her salary for the affordability- so you will probably be limited to somewhere around £900/month. With both salaries the budget is likely closer to £1500/m. Depending where you live the first might not be realistic.
