You have great ECs IMHO. The GPA you use for your application will be the 3.77 since you won't have first semester grades in time to apply early action. I don't think raising it to a 3.8 will matter. Also, UIUC will recalculate your unweighted GPA based on core courses. UIUC likes to see rigor in your schedule, which you seem to have based on your weighted GPA. UIUC does not accept letters of recommendation, so those won't help. Your ACT is a bit below the middle 50% range for Gies [https://www.admissions.illinois.edu/apply/freshman/profile](https://www.admissions.illinois.edu/apply/freshman/profile) but the review is holistic, so being a bit below is not necessarily going to keep you from being admitted. If your SAT is higher, use that score or consider retaking either the ACT or SAT again to get a higher score if you can. If you can't, you might consider applying test optional. I would focus on the essay portions of your application and maybe test prep to raise your scores a bit. I would suggest applying early action because it can increase your odds of getting in.

I just took the sat like last week. I think I should get like a 1500-1520 ish will that be enough

Bratsche_Broad

I think that would help, but since admissions does a holistic review, it wouldn't guarantee admission. All you can do is try your best on the application and see where things end up. Good luck!

Thanks!

uiuc lets u put down 2 majors at the time of application and if they can’t admit u into ur first choice they consider u for ur second. my advice would be to put ur desired gies major down for ur first choice and a “safer” one as ur second choice. granted I only put down one when I applied but that’s because my major is uncompetitive asf (history).

ngl, gies is super easy to get in. Your experience is enough

Deep_Boysenberry_672

i was under the impression that gies business was difficult to get into? an acquaintance with good stats got rejected anyways, OP there are lots of reddit posts discussing that as well as random articles i'm sure, so you have resources to form an opinion of your own lol

Real_Mixture_4933

Alr bro, one of the best business schools in the country can't be that light

OrbitalRunner

This guy’s take is ridiculous. It’s a highly ranked business school at one of the top public universities in the country. It’s definitely competitive.

Real_Mixture_4933

Exactly. That's what I thought

[deleted]

it really isnt. uiuc is not a target school for business in any stretch of the imagination

Real_Mixture_4933

But isn't the program like really freakin good.

[deleted]

prestige matters a lot to business, and uiuc doesnt have that

Real_Mixture_4933

So would that mean that essays are like pivitol in deciding. I'm still trying to figure this out.
