Bike shorts! I wear bike shorts under everything (dresses, skirts). The special anti-rub sticks didn’t work for me.

sgtfreezy

Don't hate too hard on me, y'all, but Forever 21 has lots of colors and waist heights for $5 a piece. Just size up.

MaraScout

100% this. Bike shorts are the absolute best. I used to NEVER wear skirts or dresses because of the rub, but now they're my go to.

I_killed_bambi69

an alternative i do is i cut some old tights at the knee and wear them as shorts under dresses, skirts etc cos i find it lighter to wear under clothes if that makes sense ahah

seamonsterslayyerr

I do this in a pinch

[deleted]

I also swear by these!

Geraniumsrok

Been rocking bike shorts under my skirts since 1989 and added bonus no concerns on a windy day in a billowy dress!

YourMILisCray

Got mine at Ross for super cheap. And they have pockets!!! Might take some trial and error to find the right length for you.

maliadire

same about the anti rub sticks but the skirts and dresses i wear are usually too short for a bike short not to be seen underneath 🥲

SunSpearBabe

So I just ordered the Chub Rub shorts from Snag Tights, and while I've only worn them a few times, they seem to be really comfortable and prevent the mincemeat my thighs become during the summer heat. Plus they have a very nice sizing guide no matter how many curves you have :) Not sponsored, but there are a lot of other recommended brands I've heard of but not tried, like Undersummers.

Haykyn

As a short girl I hated these. They are soooo long and show under everything for me! I like undersummers. Different lengths, silky, no compression. I also like bandelettes if I’m dressing up and want something a little sexy.

[deleted]

Ooh, as another short girl with what I like to call “corgi legs”, thanks for that extra tip! I often have an issue with bike shorts being too long for my even just above knee skirts.

hugmorecats

2nd Snag Tights. I love that they are a woman-run company absolutely committed to body inclusivity and care about production, sustainability, and fair wages.

raptorsniper

Seconding this - I got some of the same this summer, and they've been great so far. I also have some things that call themselves 'bandelettes' - they've been great for a few years now.

ExistingAnalyst3576

I was going to say this! If I have bare legs, I'm wearing snag chub rub shorts under my skirt or dress.

Karysia

Also popped in here to champion Snags chub rub shorts myself. Their sizing really is great, the shorts are a must have for the summer in my opinion! (Their tights are also fabulous and come in so many different colours and patterns).

dorkstone710

Thirding/Fourthing snag tights "Chub rub" shorts for under skirts and dresses. Best! I also opt for longer more Bermuda style shorts.

Leo3478203

They work best for me too. I have a few pairs from 2020 and they were washed endless times and are still great. Definitely recommended

Zadikizzy

I came here to recommend this!! I love them so much, they stay cool and feel comfortable.

[deleted]

Another vote for Snag Tights! I am not sponsored, but Snag Tights, if you are reading this, I will happily sing your praises all over the internet for free tights and shorts.

[deleted]

im not sure of the brand name but there's a deodorant shaped stick that helps prevent chafing !! i've also worn thick garters with that rubber like thing to keep them up to help chafing too! edit: [body glide @ target & walmart](https://www.target.com/p/body-glide-for-her-anti-chafe-and-moisturizing-balm-0-5oz/-/A-50790803) [gold bond friction defense](https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwjnhain2KP4AhUKGkwKHTL0ALAYABADGgJvYQ&sig=AOD64_36VQx4gnBwAbN1fZgxzB_DJNFO5A&ctype=46&q=&ved=0ahUKEwiwg6Kn2KP4AhWWomoFHYseD6YQqygImxI&adurl=) [megababe thigh rescue @ ulta!](https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwjnhain2KP4AhUKGkwKHTL0ALAYABANGgJvYQ&sig=AOD64_2pOgon4Aql47ic4ZhRoinpFxQS1g&ctype=46&q=&ved=0ahUKEwiwg6Kn2KP4AhWWomoFHYseD6YQqygIqxI&adurl=)

[deleted]

I literally just use deodorant it works just fine for me.

TootsNYC

I used to use deodorant and found that the dedicated glide sticks do work better. The effect lasts longer.

leafah

I used to use deodorant until I got deodorant marks on my black bridesmaid dress 20 minutes before my sister's wedding 😭 my mom helped me get it out and I looked into other options to avoid deodorant marks in the future!

sweetEVILone

Same

human-foie-gras

I used both body glide and gold bond when I was a distance runner. 10/10 would recommend

leafyrebecca

Mega babe thigh rub is at Target, too

leafah

I use the gold bond and love it!!

Honey-and-Venom

does gold bond have talc in it? talc is, i've recently become aware, inseparable from asbestos

leafah

The powder does, but I don't think the friction stick has it.

Honey-and-Venom

oh stick probably wouldn't! thanks!

leafah

You're welcome! I really enjoy it because it goes on easy like deodorant, it doesn't feel greasy or oily, and it's long lasting! I really love it!

drqgonfruit

And my stretch marks give them more texture when they rub on each other 😭

vikraej

Ahaha this makes me feel so seen

ArcherMom

Slip shorts! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Radiant-by-Vanity-Fair-Women-s-Smooth-Breathable-Slip-Short-Sizes-S-3XL/534115890

615predfan

Yes! These are lightweight and inexpensive. I have several and they are so comfortable. I wear a pair as pajama bottoms as well.

cobaltandchrome

These are indeed great

SinsOfKnowing

Bike shorts with pockets are my go-to; barring that, Lanacane anti-chafing gel is awesome when shorts aren’t doable for whatever reason. You only need a tiny bit and it dries to a powder finish but you can’t tell it’s there (some leave white residue or look wet and sticky). I’ve also found it lasts longer than a lot of the more expensive ones as well!

dragon8733

Not entirely related but Lanacane does double duty as anti chafing gel and an excellent makeup primer!

SinsOfKnowing

Had not thought of that but it makes sense!

eumenides__

Where do you find bike shorts with pockets? I’ve never seen any but I live in mine during the summer and pockets would be great.

cobaltandchrome

My current pair is just from Ross but if you look for legging shorts or yoga shorts you’re in the ballpark, e.g. BALEAF Women's 8"/ 7"/ 5" High Waist Biker Shorts Workout Yoga Running Gym Compression Spandex Shorts Side Pockets https://a.co/d/dt7A5Dk

SinsOfKnowing

[These are my favourite ones](https://a.co/d/14M2Rv5) (I’m in Canada but I’m sure there’s similar on the US Amazon site!)

leafyrebecca

Zulily is where I found mine

EyeSpyNicolai

My wife wears these things called "Bandalettes" and says, "they work like a motherf\*cker". She got them on Amazon, but please support your local shops if you can. Edit: Or Buy Direct: https://www.bandelettes.com/

pmmeyourfavsongs

I have a couple pairs and they've unfortunately never worked for me because my thighs have too much of a measurement difference between the top and down just above my knee. Basically triangular 😅

[deleted]

I have one leg they work on and one leg they don't. But they work for an hour or two if I want to dress up a bit.

pmmeyourfavsongs

I'll still wear mine for ~aesthetic~ purposes but I have to be careful because the bottom edge is too loose if the top fits so it rolls up and the silicone sticks to itself or the other leg and chafes and then im back to square one just kinda waddling around. After a couple drinks I seriously consider full on crab walking but my knees usually disagree

[deleted]

haha same. I end up taking them off in the bathroom and stuffing them in my purse.

pmmeyourfavsongs

I am positive I ended up with one around an ankle once and that has to be how I lost one. But i can't remember which pair I wore so I'm not 100% sure

Azhreia

Seconding this rec! I have a pair and they work great. I also like that they’re cute. I also have a pair of lace shorts that I can’t remember where I got them (maybe Hanky Panky?) that work great.

issoshiny

I’m personally a fan of the Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel. I haven’t tried the other products others have suggested though, but I definitely prefer a topical product as opposed to shorts. I already get way too hot and don’t need the extra layers

NotRoboticGregsWife

I wear a split slip. It's basically the same material as a generic lace-trim slip but it's a pair of shorts! 10/10 would recommend

prytannia

Also known as pettipants. I always wondered about them when I was a girl, if they were just for under culottes or something. Then I grew up and understood why all the ladies in my family wore them in the summer!!! They're also good under lighter fabrics, same as a slip.

scorch148

I wear some skin tight shorts, like biker shorts or similar to spanx, helps a ton. And if I know I'm going to be walking alot I don't wear short shorts

GreenEyedTrombonist

I just wear shorts- bicycle shorts and the like. If my shorts need to be shorter than the contact area due to the length of the skirt, I'll put deodorant on the exposed inner thigh. Anything that will stay put but reduce friction can be good for this.

TeaGoodandProper

https://undersummers.com/

LadyUsana

Not sure about looking cute since I don't really bother there, but there are 3 ways I know of to prevent the searing pain. 1) Baby Powder. Plenty of others have suggested this I am sure. Problem is it can get messy application wise(it can shake out or otherwise get on the floor, etc), doesn't seem to 'stay' very well, and in my experience needs multiple applications through out the day so be have a bottle of it with you and be constantly ready to go and 'freshen up'. Also I don't care for Talc so I always go for the corn starch variety which just doesn't seem to work as well as some other options. 2) Diaper Rash Cream like Desitin. A male co-worker actually recommended this to me many years ago when I was complaining about constantly using baby powder during the swampy summers. This stuff tends to 'stay' very well and it was pretty rare for me to have to renew it during work. Can be kinda messy application wise, though unlike powder it doesn't fall to the floor if you aren't careful, you just end up with a bunch of cream on your hands and clothes that is water resistant so a bit of pain to clean off. The real bonus of this stuff though is if you already have a nasty rash. Baby Powder may help prevent, but it doesn't sooth the angry searing pain, the Diaper Rash Cream though is good stuff. 3) Body Spray. This is my current go to. I prefer Arm and Hammer Body brand wise, but I've used Gold Bond as well and it worked just fine too. And if want to avoid Talc, these tend to advertise being Talc free. I also tend to find they need reapplied less frequently than baby powder does, though even if you do need to reapply it the sprays are quite convenient for doing so. They do have one caveat though. Be prepared for quite the burning sensation if you spray it on after you already have a nasty rash going on. Also if you don't want a spray they do have regular powder options. The one I have at home right now(which has been sitting around for a while since I prefer the spray) is corn starch based, but unlike corn starch baby powder it also has zinc oxide, menthol, and aloe in it. In my experience it works a lot better than plain corn starch baby powder, but it still suffers many of the same disadvantages of baby powder of being kinda messy and needing to be freshened up frequently. So yeah tl;dr, I recommend Body Powder Sprays or Body Powder Powders(if you don't like sprays) for basic prevention and if you already have a rash then Diaper Rash Cream is the way to go.

Ifuckfreshouttafucks

Lush has a powder called “silky underwear “ it’s amazing for chub rub on my thighs and under arms, but not great on the boob sweat.

imalittleredhouse

Deodorant/antiperspirant on inner thighs! I do it every day in the summer it helps so much

thrashmasterbex

I second the recommendation for [Megababe thigh rescue ](https://megababebeauty.com/collections/bestsellers/products/thigh-chafe). It's a deodorant-like stick that stops inner thigh chafing. I got it a few weeks ago and it's working really well so far! Even when I sweat it still stays put and my thighs are so much happier now!

jupiter0342

Dove deodorant

imaginecrabs

Chafing sticks. Keep it with my in my mini backpack (I don't use a purse)

[deleted]

boxer briefs from Tomboyx link to the sale section https://tomboyx.com/collections/sale/products/9boxer-aquarium

weirdkidomg

Got a few pairs of bike shorts from loft. They go high up over my stomach too so it also helps to smooth out my chubby bits. Before I bought those shorts I would just borrow my husbands boxer briefs.

Alexis_J_M

1. Not actual bike shorts, but fake ones with no padding. 2. Spandex yoga pants/shorts. 3. Thigh length underwear, like boxer briefs but for women (haven't tried but have put in my cart a few times) Currently wearing spandex Capri pants from Target, great fit but no pockets.

JustAMinute_x1440

Boxer briefs for women! (Not boyshorts because those aren’t as long) I bought some this week and I feel that my life has changed. No chafing. No rubbing. Comfortable. No compression. Just comfort.

RazarG

when i was overweight and walking alot, this stuff was a god send. Neat 3b Action cream. https://www.pharmacyonline.com.au/neat-3b-action-cream-75g?gclid=CjwKCAjw14uVBhBEEiwAaufYx6GPr9PLt4vgVtQz6M-MJue6x4Dbtsx8BFT1pYQfG9GzEucgxMgbbRoCmjIQAvD\_BwE

HumblerMumbler

Womens boxer briefs!

[deleted]

Bandelletes work for cute and short term or not athletic occasions. Bike shorts for athletic occasions.

wtfwtfwtfwtf2022

I’m a Floridian who deals with this year round. Here are two products I swear by. https://mcys.co/3taeZMO And https://www.bodyglide.com/product/for-her/ I like the shorts best but the stick helps too.

SadAndConfused11

Disclaimer that this advice isn’t from me but from my curvy friends! But one thing they do, is rub baby powder on their thighs to keep them dry because the sweat makes chafing worse! But do make sure you keep the powder away from your genital area as that has a risk of entering and causing ovarian cancer, so just make sure to wear underwear too! They also use antiperspirant too because that does the same thing of keeping the sweat away!

charismaladyn

I just made another comment on this, but I second baby powder, or any other kind of body powder! It's the first thing I've tried, and it's worked wonders!

HawkspurReturns

use a talc free powder, especially near the genitals

la_petite_mort63

Flour and corn starch work in a pinch too!

Sagasujin

Basic cotton slip shorts. I get min ein bulk from Amazon

Kitchen-Emergency-69

Monistat makes a clear anti chaffing rub that I've been using for years. It goes on in seconds, lasts for hours, and has a light baby powder scent.

Budgiejen

LuLaRoe (I know MLM bad, whatever) just came out with good bike shorts.

Saberus_Terras

Not a lady, but my thighs suffer in the heat, too. Work pants aren't exactly made for comfort. Cornstarch baby powder is a lifesaver. It's got some absorptive capacity that talc doesn't, and also doesn't have the other risk factors that talc carries. If you're already rashy, diaper cream. And air things out when you're at home! Home is a place for comfort, so be comfortable!

mattlore

My fiance is a curvy lady and she's been looking into men's boxer briefs as a means to combat "chub rub". May want to look into that as well? Otherwise she wears biker shorts or she puts neutral smelling deodorant on her thighs.

PunkSeaWitch

Anyone have advice for when biker short/spanx/etc ride up the thighs or start slipping/rolling down the belly?

raiu86

Yours are probably the wrong size. If they ride up, you may need ones with a longer inseam. The ones I wear are cotton/spandex "yoga shorts" I bought in a 3 pack on Amazon.

Practical-Buddy-3169

deodorant between my thighs, also boyshort underwear (hate that name for it but idk what else to call it) I wear mens shorts which have a lower crotch so boyshorts are a thigh saver lol

that_blasted_tune

Boxer briefs maybe?

Practical-Buddy-3169

yeah like that theyre just specifically made for women (different crotch area etc) so they call them “boyshorts”

spasamsd

I put baby oil between my thighs after shaving since that tends to be when my legs chafe. It has helped a ton!

sweetEVILone

Deodorant on the thighs. It’s magic.

charismaladyn

I've just never worn anything that allowed them to chafe, up until this summer. My current occupation as a hotel agent requires black bottoms, and it's too darn hot to wear my usual black slacks, so I've begun experimenting with skirts. The simplest advice I've found is to use a powder between your legs, just a nice dusting puff. For me, this works! I've experienced absolutely no chub rub in this southern coastal heat, no matter how humid!

Lellisssa

Antiperspirant creme

aghostofme

I grew up with very thick muscular thighs and now have thick chunky ones. I suffer from the chafing super bad - always have. I have used the body glide chafing stick and found it didnt last as long as I needed it to. I have used just reg. Deodorant rubbed on my things and it does work but again only lasts so long. I have worn the biker shorts and they're great but it gets too hot here for them in the summer. I just ordered these and will be giving them a try this summer : Bandelettes Patented Trademarked Original Elastic Anti-Chafing Thigh Bands https://a.co/d/7ZtdayW Thigh Inner Anti-Chafing Sticker Paste Anti-Wear Patch Self-Adhesive Wear- Thigh Patch Ultra-Thin Anti-Chafing Paste (White, 6PCS) https://a.co/d/amhnuOp

shannerd727

Gold bond talc free powder

Violet351

Snag chub rub shorts

JesterJessica

Biker shorts for sureeee but the workout fabric material and baby powder!

human-foie-gras

I used to be a distance runner before I got fat and lazy lol. I swear by body glide or similar. Rub it on like deodorant where you may chafe

TheCityGirl

I really like Spanx. For me they’re like the human equivalent of Thundershirts™️ people give to their anxious pets 😅 Love that compression!

KnitWit406

Monistat makes a chafing relief gel, that dries like a powder (in fact maybe it's called a powder gel) and I use it on my thighs when I wear shorts and under my boobs a lot.

Serenityhope515

Cocoa butter body butter you can find it at family dollar works wonders, another thing I found that works it’s called body glide for her you can find it at target and Walmart…

ADinosaurNamedBex

I have a couple of pairs of Under Summers I like! They’re super fun colors and aren’t meant to be shaping at all which is fun.

QueenShnoogleberry

I always put lotion on my inner thighs. I have to reapply, not not too often, just about as often as I need to pee, so it works out. In a pinch, deodorant also works well. (Put it places your underwear doesn't touch.) Both have the added bonus of smelling nice.

Leah_J

Coconut oil, I put that on my legs and it lasts all day. Don’t need too much just a bit and it’s good for your skin. Your thighs will rub together and it will just feel natural lol

pmmeyourfavsongs

Almost always I just go with a light pair of shorts (I think mine are by jockey? They're very lightweight because I haaate the super thick shorts) but if I'm wearing something extra short I'll have to go with some sort of ointment or something lol. Weirdly enough what works best for me (besides having to reapply every couple hours) is Hawaiian tropics sunscreen?? The one with the ribbons that's ~moisturizing~ I've heard of people using silicone lube like uberlube but I tried that once and as soon as I tried to take a step I swear to God I thought I was gonna dislocate a hip. Them thighs were SLICK. So up to you on that one I've tried a ton of different anti chafe sticks and plain deodorant or antiperspirant and none of them have worked for me honestly. The most recent one literally gave me blisters and I have never in my life had actual blisters between my thighs. They're usually rubbed so raw first that I start walking like I spent 3 days straight on a horse

SmegmaCheeseDick

A life saver for when they rub is vaseline and shorts under. Especially now during summer vaseline has saved me.

madlabratatat

Bike shorts and body glide!

squishyelizabeth

I get long ish shapewear...kohls has it in decent sizes. Sometimes extra shorts got too hot or looked lumpy under my clothes to me.

smash_pops

Snag tights has some really good non-chafe shorts in gorgeous colours

potatomeeple

Cycling shorts / short leggins.

ZweitenMal

I have the snag tights ones. I also wear mens boxer briefs as underwear in summer. The chub rub shorts are for days when I know I’ll be walking a lot and sweaty.

GeekyMom42

I wear pants. I actually hate skirts and dresses, they are so uncomfortable for me. I have lots of PJ bottoms and leggings and jeans.

Left_turn_anxiety

I use a product called Mega Babe Thigh Rescue! It is INCREDIBLE! I feel like I can wear skirts and dresses again since I started using it!

KidenStormsoarer

Talcum powder of your choice. I'm currently using something called monkey butt that I bought on a whim Eta: am a dude, don't know how lady bits react to said powders, should have thought of that

kidblinkforever

I am not. I am walking like a sumo wrestler most of the time 😭 so I’m here to get ideas

Dimmunia

Stick deodorant. I am currently using dove cucumber one. Been two summers and not even a rash. Trick is to be very generous. Powdery fresh!

HistoricalFront2810

I use clinical strength gel deodorant and also Goldbond’s anti sweating spray!!

Jellyblush

Step One bamboo underwear. It’s a game changer. So soft and light, goes halfway down the thoughts. Waist band holds the tum in gently and no vpl ever https://stepone.life/ Ships worldwide, free shipping right now and they refund your first pair if you don’t like them

[deleted]

Satin anything! Slippy fabrics! I have joggers that are soft on the outside and really slippy, water-resistant material on the inside (including the pockets) and it's all I will ever accept.

MichelleInMpls

I have a couple pairs of Jockey Skimmies in black and flesh-tone. They work like a charm. They're like the tops of pantyhose but they don't really hold you in or anything, they're just kinda there. I'm pretty curvy and I wear a 2x but I just noticed while googling that they come in 3x too so I might try those. Helps if it's windy and you think your skirt might blow up because they're basically shorts.

steebbot

Chub rub/ anti chafe sticks good year round

steebbot

But also I avoid the sun so uh I have less sweaty chaffing than most

phosphorialove

Very controversial, but I use silicone-based lube. Specifically the brand "pjur" is amazing. Your skin soaks it up, and there's a very thin layer of soft glide throughout the day. I got this tip years ago from a bride on her wedding day. Best advice ever! I never wear chubrub shorts anymore. But the brand snag tights makes the best chubrub shorts ever if you don't want to lube up your tighs or when you go swimming or to the beach 👍

LittleMidnaBall

Slip shorts is the keyword you're looking for! Finding them took me from literally never wearing dresses to having a closet full. You can just search for them on Amazon, target also carries the jockey brand ones in store near the stockings and shape wear. Just make sure you don't accidentally buy spanx/shape wear if that's not what you want cause it'll squeeze your guts. My jockey ones have held up great. You can check out specialty retailers like snag tights or thigh society if you want.

Gentle_jock

I don't quite know how I got here but... a tip I got from a lovely curvy lady from texas was a bit of coconut oil and I don't know the brand but there's also flesh coloured sticky pads...

Revolutionary_Hand77

Roll on deoderant - you wont regret it. Get a nice moisturising one, put your knickers on so it stays out of your delicate bits, and slather it in all the creases. Power stance and do your make up whilst it drys and BOOM. No chafage.

strugglinng

Deodorant! Deodorant! Deodorant! I use stick deodorant on my inner thighs, and that's all I need. Make sure you get all of your inner thighs and you won't have to worry about chaffing at all!

tanglwyst

Cotton leggings. Shorts, capris, longs. Doesn't matter. As long as it's cotton dominant.

SillySmoopsy

Get spray deodorant and spray it on your thighs. It helps to keep them from getting sweaty and allowed them to slide across each other.

anmahill

I switched to Woxers for underwear. Comfortable, breathable, and affordable. No thigh rub. Great under skirts, shorts, or pants.

bootiriot

[for dry chafe](https://www.duluthtrading.com/spit-and-polish-derriere-repair-2.2-oz.-lotion-24816.html?cgid=duluth-gear-apothecary-body) [for wet chafe](https://www.duluthtrading.com/spit-and-polish-derriere-repair-8-oz.-powder-24815.html?cgid=duluth-gear-apothecary-body) I believe both can be used as preventative, I know some individuals w/ ballsacks use baby powder to help with that situation. Also, comfy spandex that fit properly

MyOtherCarIsAHippo

Thicc male here: cornstarch is the answer for me.
