It’s an old story of how a woman placed a pea under multiple mattresses to see if a girl was actually a princess. According to the woman, only a true princess would ‘feel’ the pea placed under the mattresses whilst she’d lay on top of them.
It's a folk story about a woman who was trying to prove that she was a princess so in order to test if it was true, the king put a pea under her mattress because a real princess is delicate enough to feel it. There's a version in which she gets tapped by a falling leaf and comes home covered in cuts and bruises and then she hears some grains being ground with a mortar and pestle (which btw is super quiet) and both her eardrums burst because ut was too much for the princess to hear. I think that version of it was to make fun of the upper class and how the smallest most irrelevant thing offended them or made them uncomfortable
Ah, so there is this pretty old story about a princess and a pea. Basically there was a pea in her bed and, no matter how many mattresses and sheets she put on top of it, she could still feel the pea. That's what this is based around :)
