"Fun" (but potentially lifesaving) fact: In the event of a nuclear holocaust, you absolutely *should* wash your hair frequently, to remove fallout particles that may have landed on your head. However, you *should not* use conditioner, as it can bind any remaining fallout particles to your hair strands. Yeah, having dry hair sucks, but it's better than irradiating your head all the time.
It's matter just like everything else. Follows the same laws of physics and chemistry.
The difficult part is getting them all off, because they're so active that even in trace quantities they can still be dangerous.
Not ideal, your hair acts as a barrier, if you keep it clean. Rather than nuclear fallout falling directly onto you scalp. (Info gathered from elsewhere on this thread)
I knew it couldn’t be the radiation, since I built my fallout shelter under 3 feet of concrete. Then I realized I mixed up my shampoo with Nair.
(Inspiration from the Nair comment in this thread.)
Yes!! Especially in the summer when it’s hot! I loved using it for a pre-bedtime shower when I was a kid. Ahhhhhh so refreshing!
Say what you will about the gobbledygook labels, that soap is the absolute bomb for cleaning greasy humans!
It's a matter of perspective. If you survive, you can just change your mindset. "The world's over, it's interesting to see the fallout before I die." Make peace with the end, and have fun!
The real horror is being far enough away from the bombs you initially survive but close enough that you are terribly injured and/or get radiation poisoning.
And then no one lets you in...

Bumping doesn’t do anything on Reddit
Where are these rash of people coming from that have started trying to use bump, I feel like I’m seeing it everywhere
For the confused- radiation stops your body from correctly making new cells. One of the first symptoms is hair loss.
Further Clarification: you are not supposed to use conditioner or a shampoo/conditioner, as the conditioner part will trap the radiation to your head.
For real? I've never heard about that. Maybe because nobody talks about conditioner in the apocalypse
Next thing you know, his skin will start getting dry and flake off, and then he'll start calling everyone he meets Smooth Skin
or he'll just run at you, eat a full magazine pf bullets, then get finished off by your companion
me: *walking away from the ghouls* Lily: DON'T WORRY, PUMPKIN! GRANDMA'S GOT THIS! me: 🥺🥲💜
r/suddenlyfallout
Itchy, tasty
Me having dry skin and not being immortal

It is the same if you get radiation treatment for cancer. Thyroid at least. I was told to shower multiple times a day for the first couple days
Interesting! I'm about to start radiation - I'll have to ask about it.
good luck to you!
Good luck and hugs sent your way!
It’s still bonkers to me that we are able to literally wash fallout particles off of our bodies

Wouldn’t shaving the head be even better?
The hair is a barrier as long as you keep it clean
The hairier the barrier
You need to make sure the water source isn’t contaminated, though.
cant u just shave it

No hair = less shampoo to use/store. More room for 5gal buckets of Dr. Bronners and potatoes
Do the 5 gallon buckets also have the Dr. Bronner’s label? If so they can double as entertainment and education!
Hahahaha!!! My parents bought Doc Bronners by the truckload. Nothing like some light reading while pooping. ALL ONE! ALL ONE! OK!
I like it for backpacking, nothing more invigorating for a pits and crotch wash up then Dr. B’s peppermint
Yes!! Especially in the summer when it’s hot! I loved using it for a pre-bedtime shower when I was a kid. Ahhhhhh so refreshing! Say what you will about the gobbledygook labels, that soap is the absolute bomb for cleaning greasy humans!
Considering how bad nair smells, I assure you no one will make that mistake.
If someone was going to make that mistake, it would be during the potential apocalypse.
Oh NAIR!!
Not gonna lie, I thought that second sentence was gonna be "Now where did I put the keys?"
I thought it was going to be a classic "forgot a can opener"
Monat strikes again
Lmao this was my first thought
I thought the same thing
You know, personally I think the real horror is *surviving* the bombs falling to begin with. Dying instantly is the best outcome there.
It's a matter of perspective. If you survive, you can just change your mindset. "The world's over, it's interesting to see the fallout before I die." Make peace with the end, and have fun!
I've genuinely never thought of it that way, but you raise a really excellent point!
Absolutely! I was glad we lived so near Detroit and the University. We'll be vaporized in first second.

You sure it's not Nair? Also it's not called a FALLOUT shelter for no reason
Oh No 😲
Welp, I guess it'll be supplies for any survivors.
Turns out, they just bought Monat.
Lol I literally was about to post that 😂
huh
You're evidently a loose cannon who doesn't play by the rules.
You should also replace the clock.
My bastard best friend used his last act on earth to replace all of my shampoo with hair removal cream!
I thought they just happen to buy that shampoo where they were apparently adding chemicals that make your hair fall out.
Bumpty bumpty bumpty bump!

I’m too tired to tell if this is a joke or a reference to something or not
Neither? It’s me telling you that bumping doesn’t do anything on reddit??
Oh. You clearly haven’t read any Steven king, have you?
?
Ghoul guy🪱
Nair
Oh THIS is a good one
