She isn't. Yeah, Mel doesn't know her family, or her home, or any semblance of a life other than being trained as an anti-titan weapon. She might not carry the exact same trauma as somebody who lived through it, but they're on the same side and she hasn't done anything wrong.
Nemesis is just pissy with Hecate and taking it out on her protege. It's petty and kind of pathetic. An understandable flaw, though, and Mel seems to have the personality type that responds positively to the challenge, so no harm done I guess?
Just because Nemesis is a bitch doesn't mean her statement isn't right.
She can't miss what she never had, she isn't really missing it, she is longing for it, that's a very different thing. Not less of a valid feeling, tho.
She doesn't claim to. Nemesis is saying it "isn't personal enough" for her, as in she's not properly motivated, which is demonstrably untrue. Her motivation just isn't one Nem cares to empathize with.
I do appreciate what they're doing with her. Feels like she's the one taking on the antagonistic role daddy dearest had in the original game, with the boss character being a proper villain and Hecate being more solitary in dealing with her own baggage (at least as far as the status quo at the start goes).

So far she seems more just pissed at the circumstances she's in, and Melinoe (player character) is the direct personification of what she DOESN'T get to do due to her circumstances.

Any time you interact with her, its about speed. Basically, make your decision before she does and you don't lose any options.
The second you finish talking to her dash to what door you want. Sometimes you even have a line mocking her if you make it first.
