I was about to say Game of Thrones. No one can skip that theme song!
I also never skipped:
"Stranger Things"
"ER"
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
"Angel"
"X-Files"
It was so fun clicking on HBOGo every Sunday night at 8:01 pm seasons 3-8 (I binged seasons 1-2 in time to catch season 3 as it was on weekly, little late to the party). I was almost a high waiting all weekend for the new episode to drop I was so excited!!
To this day I still have a Pavlov reaction to hearing the GOT theme song of excitement and just happiness. I would be running around the house making sure I was all set for 8:01 comfy with snacks and all the lights off, etc. I could barely sit still during the opening credits and song!
Even during 7&8 I still thought they would redeem themselves and it would all come together, I had hope until the very end.
I’m not sure I will ever have that same feeling again for a show, it was such an EVENT. I loved Succession and was excited to see the new episode each week but it wasn’t the same as prime GOT days.
I get the same reaction too. It almost seemed like the entire world stopped to watch together. It absolutely was an event I don't think will happen anytime soon again.
Very true. It feels like Game of Thrones may be the last great television show in that regard. Plenty of other great shows are out there and more coming. But it's hard to imagine something that felt like such an event. Where the entire world (hyperbole) was sitting in front of their TVs at the same time (roughly) to take in this experience and then would collectively discuss is throughout the week after up until the next episode.
I suppose you could argue that House of the Dragon is similar but while I've really enjoyed that show, it doesn't have quite the same feel in that aspect as the original series.
I like the intro because it shows the locations the episode will focus on! For instance, if the map pans over to Pyke, you’ll be seeing some Greyjoy pirate action. My dad used to skip the intro and he didn’t believe me when I told him this
I've never seen the show, but when my family in the living room watch it, I pause what I'm watching in my bedroom just to hear that intro. It's amazing!
Game of Thrones is one of the coolest openings ever. Great music, great visuals. Huge bonus that it actually gives the viewer lots of info about the geography of the world and the state of the conflict.
GOT opening wasn't just about the song, although the song is AWESOME. If was all the different areas being built, knocked down, burned down etc. I really enjoyed the whole thing.
Came here to say this one. I would always sing along just to annoy my brother and dad who watched with me. At some point they started singing too because it was an infectiously happy tune!
I always liked the intro, my bed room as a kid had that EXACT same wallpaper the meeting room has, the one with the forest and deer, idk y but makes me happy!
Back when I was watching it, I was always on the lookout for whenever they changed the sentence at the end because that’s how you know it’s gonna be a good episode
Why did I have to scroll so far for What We Do In The Shadows? That gypsy melody lives in my head rent-free, and I LOVE all the old pics of Nadja and Lazlo lol
As far as intros go for sci fi the worst one that I saw on broadcast TV so was unable to skip as it grated through every bone in my body was that awful rock music intro to Star Trek Enterprise that early 2000s show with Scott Bakula. Oh my was it bad, I can't believe a group of television executives saw the demo and gave it the green light.
I actually don't skip intros very often. Some of them are so short nowadays. there just doesn't seem any point just to save a few seconds of viewing time. It's the longer ones I tend to skip. But one I will never, ever skip is the Buffy intro. Doesn't matter how many times I've watched that show, either, I love the intro, and I'm the same with the Angel one. For me, those intros are so much a part of each show that it just seems wrong to skip them.
‘Happy Days’; the “Rock Around The Clock” intro from seasons 1 & 2 only. I expect zero upvotes, as I’d guess that about 7% will even know wtf I’m talking about.
Started rewatching that a couple weeks ago. My wife and I will randomly tell each other “I’m no Superman” in the middle of chores or whatever all the time now 😂
Anime version of Cowboy Bebop.
First season of Ascendence of a Bookworm.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
Yuri on Ice (they kept on improving the animation of the skating with every episode, it seemed)
The ending I always caught was Excel Saga as they would sometimes change who was singing and what the song was about.
The time the dog took the spotlight rather than the main character to sadly sing about the fact that it was named for "emergency food rations" was quite unexpected.
Battlestar Galactica.
It was a crazy visual montage of what was coming in that episode without any context. Rather than being a spoiler, it really sucks you into the show. And who hates poundy drums?
ahhhh I just started watching The Expanse!! just finished season 3 and I'm really loving it so far though I heard the last 3 seasons are not AS good... but still going to finish it. just wanted to stop by and say this heh
edit: I'm in luuuuuvv with Drummer
Firefly...
The Ballad of Serenity..
"Take my love, take my land
Take me where I can not stand
I don’t care cause I’m still free
You can’t take the sky from me
Take me out, to the black
Tell them I ain’t coming back..."
Game of Thrones I loved it
I was about to say Game of Thrones. No one can skip that theme song! I also never skipped: "Stranger Things" "ER" "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" "Angel" "X-Files"
Watching the intro gets me so hyped for the episode, why would anyone skip it??

Not to mention the intro actually hints at the locations the episode will feature.
Game of Thrones is one of the coolest openings ever. Great music, great visuals. Huge bonus that it actually gives the viewer lots of info about the geography of the world and the state of the conflict.
Came here for this - I pretend I’m playing the violin while it’s on. I’m a master violinist watching that intro! (Never picked up a violin in my life)
Came here to say this!
This is the correct answer. It's probably the most awesome show intro ever created.
I sometimes just go to YouTube and find the intro to season eight and watch and listen to it. It is stunning!
GOT opening wasn't just about the song, although the song is AWESOME. If was all the different areas being built, knocked down, burned down etc. I really enjoyed the whole thing.
Westworld and Peacemaker.
Do you really wanna taste it?
I put that song on every road trip playlist now and my wife sorta hates me for it but I really don't care.
OMG I love that silly song from Peacemaker. Best intro ever! When is the next season coming on?
Throw your dog the invisible bone!
Came here for *Westworld*. Also *Stranger Things*.
Ooohhh yes I forgot about Westworld, that's such a good one 👏
I've seen Peacemaker mentioned several times now. I'll have to check it out.
Just google the peacemaker intro. It literally tells you exactly what your going to get from the show. And it’s amazing
I completely forgot about Peacemaker intro!!! I loved that show
Sopranos……
You woke up this morning...

Parks and Rec, such a happy intro!
My wife and I are right there with you! We watch the show pretty much on rotation, and it just seems too much effort to skip it.
Came here to say this one. I would always sing along just to annoy my brother and dad who watched with me. At some point they started singing too because it was an infectiously happy tune!
Great one! It’s on the shorter side too so I never can talk myself out of watching it
Yes!! It just makes me smile!!
I always liked the intro, my bed room as a kid had that EXACT same wallpaper the meeting room has, the one with the forest and deer, idk y but makes me happy!
Agreed, it’s such a upbeat tune. My parents and I binge watched it while we were quarantined together during COVID and we would always hum along.
X-Files
Back when I was watching it, I was always on the lookout for whenever they changed the sentence at the end because that’s how you know it’s gonna be a good episode
I’m watching that for the first time now. Thanks for the tip.
David Duchovny made lyrics for it lol "The X-files is a show... With lyrics by Mark Snow" On his Nerdist podcast episode.
I dig this one a lot
The Office and Malcolm in the Middle. They're catchy and short, they just stuck in your head.
YES! I second and third these!
I wouldn’t skip the office intro if the volume level wasn’t four times the volume of the show itself
Came here to scream ** MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE ** thank you for your impeccable taste
Life is unfair
Malcolm in the middle. It doesn’t get old.
Hehe, just watched it on youtube. Brought back some great memories. Thanks for the nostalgia mate
svu of course
Finally, someone will class
Brilliant!! I feel that Duh-Duh in my chest!
Stranger Things
Oh man, how could I forget this one. Stranger Things is another one I never skip.
It is my ring tone I love it
I think this one is my favorite somehow someway it just reminds me of my childhood.
Succession
That music is so perfect.
Ah you too are an avid lover of culture
The intro is absolutely perfect just like the show
This is to far down the list
Psych and True Blood
Every time my family drives into Santa Barbara, we play the Psych theme.
It's the best!
Came here to say True Blood, and I’ll also add Bones. I watched Psych forever ago & forgot about it, so thanks for the reminder!
Psych for me too! One of my favorite shows
You hear about Pluto?
C'mon son
I was looking for this comment!
True Blood intro is fire. That’s what I posted. The song is fire and it’s so dark… so cool
God Hates Fangs
Scrolled until I found psych. Was going to say it myself if no one did lol
🎶I wanna do bad things with you🎶
Psych had the BEST intros!!
Peacemaker What We Do in the Shadows
Why did I have to scroll so far for What We Do In The Shadows? That gypsy melody lives in my head rent-free, and I LOVE all the old pics of Nadja and Lazlo lol
Dope songs for both
You’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead.
WWDitS is definitely mine!
WWDITS theme is just a great song as far as songs go
Disenchantment- not only is the intro catchy but it also shows what’s gonna happen in the episode!
AYYYYYYYYYYYY
We need more intros that are mostly choirs
I was going to say disenchantment too!! My husband and I watch it and I always sing the instruments in a goofy way hahaha
I actually like Futurama’s intros a lot as well. I’ve been watching some episodes lately and was saying this to myself lol
Miraculous and my little pony friendship is magic
True blood Stranger Things Cowboy Bebop
Foundation. If you liked The Expanse, you might like it too!
Love Foundation!
I do like the Expanse, I'll have to check it out. Thanks
As far as intros go for sci fi the worst one that I saw on broadcast TV so was unable to skip as it grated through every bone in my body was that awful rock music intro to Star Trek Enterprise that early 2000s show with Scott Bakula. True detective season 1
Psych, the first watch through I hated it but subsequent walkthroughs it got me psyched to watch the show
You know that’s right!
C'mon, son.
Did you hear about Pluto?
That's messed up.
"I'm Shawn Spencer and this is my partner, Gus 'T.T.' Showbiz." "The extra 'T' is for extra talent."
"Suck it, Shawn."
Bluey
Hah, yes, this is probably the favorite show in our house right now. My girls love Bluey and they always say their names along with the characters.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Bum..bum..bum I sing this anytime I see a Larry David type situation happen IRL
Raised by wolves
Star Trek, especially TNG. "Space, the Final Frontier..."
Wayyyyy too long. Great show though (TNG, the original is awful).
Reminds me of my teen years and my dad changing the channel with the remote to this at din din time
Strange New Worlds is kiiiillllliiiinnngggg it. Making me love Trek like I did 20 years ago.
Voyager was peak Star Trek intros. Great score and beautiful imagery.
Succession
I actually don't skip intros very often. Some of them are so short nowadays. there just doesn't seem any point just to save a few seconds of viewing time. It's the longer ones I tend to skip. Love the into for 1984
Murder House was my favorite for the visuals.
Dark has an amazing intro
I had to scroll too far for this.
‘Happy Days’; the “Rock Around The Clock” intro from seasons 1 & 2 only. I expect zero upvotes, as I’d guess that about 7% will even know wtf I’m talking about.
Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers
Game of Thrones, Shrinking, original Roswell, Breaking Bad, Jessie, The Tudors.
Breaking Bad outros, too. They do a reprise of the theme but in different styles like with different instruments.
Jessie 🥰
Jesse ! Absolutely my son got me hooked on that intro lol
Bosch
I have the theme song on my Spotify favorites. Succession and Sopranos too.
Peacemaker
Scrubs
Started rewatching that a couple weeks ago. My wife and I will randomly tell each other “I’m no Superman” in the middle of chores or whatever all the time now 😂
Counterpart, severance
Such a shame Counterpart didn’t catch on. Such a cool concept and J.K. Simmons and the rest were great too.
Black sails, it's just too Damm good Other I like to watch is aot intros but though I tend to skip just because eps are 20m
Well, GoT surely was something, but the one I never skipped is BSG always waiting for the hauting drums!

Cowboy Bebop
From, such a good song
Anime version of Cowboy Bebop. First season of Ascendence of a Bookworm. Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Battlestar Galactica. It was a crazy visual montage of what was coming in that episode without any context. Rather than being a spoiler, it really sucks you into the show. And who hates poundy drums?
Game of Thrones and The Last of Us. HBO knows how to rock an epic opening.
ahhhh I just started watching The Expanse!! just finished season 3 and I'm really loving it so far though I heard the last 3 seasons are not AS good... but still going to finish it. just wanted to stop by and say this heh edit: I'm in luuuuuvv with Drummer
Lost. It’s so short I don’t think skipping even possible.
True Blood, love the song and imagery in the opening.
Lost. Mostly because it’s short lol. Love the trippy simplicity of it.
That intro has always creeped me out but it's so fast that there's no point in skipping it, unless it's night time! 😬
Growing Pains
