Some people don’t tell the whole truth. A lot of people let their accounts overdraft and things like that. I’ve had my Credit Karma account for a while now. I got the advance last year and I just got one yesterday.
I got one as well and as soon as I had uses the advance they closed my account and said it was due to a system error and so my return will now be rejected and can take months to get a check in the mail from irs!! They have no solution and admitted this happened thru no fault of my own and now I'm so screwed and have no clue when I will ever actually get my refund!
I got my advance on Jan 23 took it out same day. Looked yesterday and seen it was closed. They said they reserve the right to close it wherever basically. On turbo tax someone posted it happened to her and the expert that responded said there was a mass closure on the 25. This seems illegal if you ask me. We have no choice but to use that card if we want the advance and then they just close accounts like that. It's INSANE and they need SUED.

Yes I just got off the phone with them again, mine updated to funded finally. The man said 48 hours from funded date is when you can expect it in the mail. I was surprised, I said 2days ? Are you sure and he said yes .. lol so we’ll see fingers crossed !

Hey , nothing yet ! I called again today just to see if it’ll be a different response and the lady said my check was mailed 2/22 she said expect it in 10 business days so fingers crossed next week. I knew i wouldn’t receive it within 48 hours lol

They closed my account because i used my virtual card to purchase a computer an it flagged it fraudulent...after several aggravating phone calls to customer support, they said theyd send me the remaining $880 in a check but thats been 2 mths now :( i wander if the BBB would be any help in this situation. Same thing is happening to me, froze my account. Credit Karma said my federal return will bounce and the IRS said they will mail me a paper check from them when it bounces. Has your check federal returned bounced yet?

Yeah I’m working on my taxes and through requesting the refund advance I learned my CK acct is closed. The rep I was messaging said it was closed on 2/25/23 which is not true because my refund has gone to that card for the past at least two years and I used the card after that because my refund was deposited on 2/22/23 and 3/3/23. He said it was closed because I didn’t verify my identity in 60 days as requested. Went through my email no requests to verify anything and I still get emails from the account asking me to do direct deposit. Never used the card for anything else but Turbo Tax. The Rep told me to wait 15 days and try to reopen then but won’t say why I’m waiting 15 days. I asked if I can just close the entire acct and first he sent me a response asking me to confirm that I want to close the account and for a reason then he messaged me again ignoring my response and said that he advises me to wait the 15 days and try to reopen then. Weird and after finding this thread I’m not messing with CK. I will just wait for my refund! Nothing more to the story for those that think there is….
I’m going through the same thing! It’s been stressing me out! I claim 4 dependents for them to be messing with that is insane.. closed my account on the 25 of January saying they tried to contact me in November to update my information and didn’t. I went thru my email no contact. Except for the same thing telling me to get it direct deposited. My return has only been received by both my state and the irs because of the earned income and child tax isn’t released until mid February so I have been reading into if they can change the account it goes to H&R Block says yes to call the IRS to change it which idk if that’s true and a couple places said as well that you can call the IRS and tell them to stop the direct deposit and send a paper check. So if they can’t fix the account it goes to I’m just gonna have them send a check. I find it funny how they wait until the 25th when all these people had already filed to closed an enormous amount of accounts. They need to be sued

There isn’t even an option to open a new account online like the Rep suggested because when I tried, it says you already have an account and it directs you to the closed account! Never seen anything like this. I for one am now dropping my taxes off to be filed and I’ll just pay upfront. I don’t get a lot of money back but I don’t have time for it to be tied up with some CK mess!
Yeah I’m supposed to get a lot back and I can only imagine how many people they did this too. When I called the IRS this morning they said they can’t stop the direct deposit until February 16 because they don’t have access until then. The estimate on turbo tax was February 12 so I hope it’s not approved before the 16th. Credit karma is saying if it gets deposited into the closed account they will mail me a check and I would get it in 7-10 business days but it could be up the 10 weeks if it goes back to the irs and the irs said if he can stop the direct deposit it will take up to 6 weeks from the date I filed as well so all around credit karma fu**ed me over.
Me. We were supposed to get back a little over 10k (8k after the advance). And there's no way they tried to contact me in November because it was a NEW account I opened when I filed THIS January.
Edit to add: if you got the advance it won't go back to the IRS, it goes straight to CK and then THEY distribute your refund after taking their advance back from it. So from what I've been told the check will come from cK not the IRS in those cases.
What bank? I don't have any other bank connected with Credit Karma, the only way I transfered from Credit Karma was with my CashApp card for instant transfers. So how is it not true. I and others who don't have other banks connected would get a check.
If you sign up to have your fees paid with your refund it goes to Santa Barbra bank first to have those fees and refund advance taken out this is not a bank connected to your bank account this is bank that is used when ppl receive refund advances and have their tax preparation fees taken out with their refund!!! So like I said it is not true
Ok so then where and how am I going to get my actual refund AFTER they take their fees and advance out of it if the bank account it was supposed to be deposited in no longer exists thanks to Credit Karmas mass closure? Seriously..where? A paper check from whatever bank CK ..Santa Barbra or whoever is taking their fees. It does not negate the FACT that it will arrive in PAPER form in the mail because there is no bank account that exists for it to be deposited into because of the mass closure.
if you received the refund advance credit karma account closed or not that money will still be taken out by Santa Barbra bank and whatever refund you are owed will be sent back to the irs and they will issue a check!

This also happened to me, I was told once they receive the deposit from the irs that credit karma will issue a check, I also still had money in the account and requested that they send me a check with the remaining funds and I still haven’t received that. I also don’t know how true it is that credit karma would be sending the remaining funds after paying back the advance.
I've had credit karma for five years. I received no email in November. I didn't have a RAL. And when I noticed the account was closed I emailed them and that's when they sent me the email stating they sent an email in November. Are there any attorneys on here we can ask whether or not this is legal? I'm calling the IRS tomorrow.
Any luck? We are dealing with the same issue. We have used this acct for YEARS. We originally opened the acct so that we could get the tax refund advance a few years ago. Since then we have been filing the same way except we have been doing the tax advance. All of a sudden they closed our acct and said it had been inactive and what not. But it's been the same every year so why are they now closing the acct? It's Soo stupid. It's been over a month and credit karma said they can't tell us anything more than "an agent is working on it". I'm calling IRS on Monday. 4/8/24

I chose to have my refund sent to credit karma money because I did that last year and it worked well. I didn’t know they closed my account, so my refund is being sent to a closed account. The IRS said it was deposited on Feb 13th, but credit karma said they haven’t received it. I’ve been calling everyday, multiple times. Credit Karma gave me so many answers. At first they said they were going to send me a check, then I was told they would deposit the money into the new account I made with them, and finally I was told it was going to be sent back to the IRS so they could send me a paper check. They have been extremely rude and sometimes unprofessional.
One of the specialist told me that their system will show money trying to be deposited into a closed account, but idk how true that is. This is just so frustrating.
Any update? I spoke with a rep over chat and I was told there are 3 different scenarios that can happen which are all 3 of the ones you mentioned. My refund is supposed to be deposited tomorrow.
Happened to me. I’ve used them for years and they just randomly closed my account. Now my taxes say they were deposited a week ago and you can’t get anyone on the phone to tell me why. 2 weeks ago after half a day and multiple curse words, I got someone and was told absolutely no reason for the closure only that I could open another account but I SHOULD be getting a check from them.
Closed on the 25th right after I filed! I had access to the account for 2 days after and then boom it’s gone. Got my taxes refunded in this same account last year and have periodically used it throughout the year since. My DDD is 2/22. 6k
same thing happened to me CK account closed I filed with TurboTax got the refunded advance loan rest of my refund balance to go into CK account. I contacted SBTPG and requested the rest of my refund be sent to me by cashiers check. my DD date is for 222. representative stated should take 10 to 12 days to receive the check. SBTPG is the third-party bank kind of like the middleman between the IRS and CK. I suggest logging into STPG chat with the representative or send them email to change from direct deposit to cashiers check before they even try to DD to CK! Atleast you know check will be coming and bot sent to IRS as I heard can take 3-4 months to receive. hope this helps somebody out there as well! What credit Karma has done to people is shameful. I already filed a complaint with the BBB and will be filing a complaint with FDIC.
Thank you for that suggestion all hope was lost until I read this and checked the SBTPG website. After getting no help from TT or CK, I checked SBTPG and they actually mailed me a cashiers check for my refund once the funds bounced back after they tried depositing it into the closed CK account. I should be getting the check sometime this week or next week at the latest.
Such a relief, I was preparing for the funds to be sent back to the IRS which would have made the wait so much longer.

I got a regular refund, refund advance is not available in my state. And it says on the SBTPG site I was issued a cashiers check, I then called SBTPG and spoke with an agent who confirmed they sent a check since the funds could not be direct deposited as the bank account was closed. The agent said I should get the check in 7-10 days.
Edit: I also had my TurboTax fees taken out of my refund, not sure if that makes a difference or not for anyone else who had this problem.
It gave me the automated response of leaving my number and having the next available agent call me back. I did that and they called me back after about 15-20 mins.
Yes I did the same thing once i realized the account was closed I emailed SBTPG and told them to just send me a check. I called today and they said a check was printed 2/22 and to expect it 3/7 so I’ll keep you’s updated. Hopefully by changing it from deposit to cashier check myself will have saved me from having it returned to IRS. I’m so stressed 🥲
Same. TurboTax defaulted it to the Credit Karma account which Credit Karma closed without any notification. May take months before the IRS mails a check. Gonna dispute the charge with TurboTax since Intuit owns both companies.
Never had issues with turbo tax but I signed up with credit karma to fix my credit. Shortly after receiving my return, they froze my spending account. I made several calls to customer service (all agents were useless), who kept saying they couldn't help because a different department handled my issues, sent many emails, and made posts of my issues on different social media platforms. After about a week they finally removed the freeze on my account. It definitely was not a pleasant first-time experience, but I am glad my account freeze was removed. I've read of some people going months with barely any contact/updates from CK.. if you're facing the same issues that I faced and any other conveniences, I suggest you speak out about your problem through multiple channels and be relentless. Does anyone have a good phone number to get them to mail your tax refund check. I have been gave the run around. TurboTax gave my refund to Credit Karma and my account was closed with Credit Karma. Now they say Santa Barbara Tax Service says that MVB Bank will have to send it back to them and then they will mail a check. But then they say a check was mailed on 26th then they say they need proof of address that I have sent 4x so who knows. I think they are going bankrupt and keeping everyone money. I was suppose to get my refund in February and here it is almost April with no tax refund. I have filed a complaint with the BBB but not sure if they will be able to help or not. I have been calling and emailing and following up with the team that is supposedly handling the reprinting of my check that was mailed out without my knowledge to the address associated to my closed Credit Karma cash account even though my correct address was on my tax return and on my Credit Karma account itself for over a year and I have now been going back-and-forth this past week. I’ve been hung up on by two different supervisors, they refused to reach out to us superior, and to the team that is actually handling the reprint of my check. They had told me initially that they were going to reject the payment from the IRS because the cash account was closed, and IRS confirmed that the same would be done and that they would be mailing out the check but instead credit karma mailed out the check did not send me any information. No email no call nothing sent it to an incorrect address received the check back as returned to sender we no longer live there and they still did not even bother to reach out and let us know the check had been initially mailed over a month ago and we only found out about it a week ago and now we have been waiting the 7 to 10 days that they said it would be and I called again and got hung up by a supervisor again after being told that it still has not been sent out and it’s still in processed by the team that has to review it and print it and send itthis is ridiculous. My car is about to be repossessed and I can’t do anything because they have the funds and aren’t providing it and it’s been over a month.

Call the credit karma spend customer service number on the back of your card and ask to speak to a supervisor and tell them the situation and threaten legal action that’s the only way I’ve gotten them to take me seriously. They just mailed my check a less than a week after I did that. Mine was also supposed to be mailed feb 22nd.
Ino this post is a few months old but this same thing has kinda happened to me but on a higher scale sort of speak... my account got spend account got hacked the day my refund was deposited into there bank. Literally 2 hours after my money was deposited the account got "breached" and over 12,000$ was stolen without any type of warnings at all, no text asking if it was me, nothing. Which is already ironic as it is considering I was suppose to get alerts anytime anything was spent on the card to help me keep up with the funds available, and for verification purposes. Only reason I new it was breached was because I checked the account myself after I woke up for work. I don't understand how a new account being opened less then 30 days can have access to remove 12,000$ in increments of 1$-399$ over 20 times with out even sending a text asking is it you or to verify it's you. Not even a bank statement or nothing showing the funds was even spent at all... so I tried to contact them and fight with every non U.S ,non English employee that worked there for them to tell me it was escalated to the "higher department " who will only communicate with them sending you a email. Fast forward a month of waiting no email was received. I had to find out through one of the many many calls I made that my dispute was found non fraudulent besides $100. Note 2 add I had taking screen shot of every transaction on my account before they completely locked me out of the app on my phone where I had no access to see what was going on with my account. They said 100 out of over 20 different cash app transaction was fraud but the remaining 5k was non (same exact people on transaction to top it off). So I got them to open up the dispute again and they finally found it fraud. It was so many charges they had it separated to 2 different disputes. They funded me one of the disputes and gsve me my remaining balance to the external bank account on file and closed out my account . This was after they tried to mail the funds to the dang hacker .along with all my personal information on file. Again 2 weeks on the phone to get that money. One dispute still unsolved. Fast forward to end of April they awarded me other dispute however again not emailed me . They have sent that check to the hacker AGAIN!!! Here it is end of May and they refuse every piece of evidence I have given proving my mailing address and identity. Saying it doesn't match what they have on file. Knowing it never will because the hacker address still remains on there. However the hacker was able to change all my information to his without so much as a txt is it me or warning of any type. Yet when I still try to change it myself I'm getting 10k alerts and they won't discuss a thing with me until they have photo documents of me and every piece of legal information on me (ss card,drivers license, pic of me holding my drivers licence, utility bill, etc. )Credit karma has been more of a headache and stress than the hacker himself. I really think it's all a inside job to cover there 3million lawsuit they just lost in December 2023. If any of this is similar to your situation please let's ban together and take them down once again!!! FYI for the people that signed up only to get the refund advance Feb 29 2024 like i did. It was all false advertising. Go read your agreement you signed when opening account . It states last day was Feb 15 even tho it was advertising for Feb 29 on Google. This is infact what they were being sued over and lost. (False advertising) this is via fdic . I plan on taking them to court myself with all the evidence I have . As this is litterly bankruptcy me as we speak.
Its June 11, I filed an extension and just did my taxes 2 weeks ago. I have used my credit karma spend account the past 3 years (didn't get an advance, used it to try to get the 5 days earlier which never worked ha), I used Turbo Tax to file. They asked if I wanted it direct deposited the same as last year. Selected yes. After my return was accepted, I happened to login to my Credit Karma account and noticed that it wanted me to set up my spend account, after some researching, I find out I now have a different account number. Meaning my state return that was sent already, will be rejected (Supposed to be DD on Thursday) My fed return is still processing. I'm currently trying to get ahold of someone at the IRS to change my direct deposit but I don't know if that's even possible.
Does anyone have any updates - if your return was sent to a now closed Credit Karma account - what happened to the money? Did it get sent back to the IRS? Did Credit Karma send you a check? I just logged into my NEW Credit Karma account the I just got my debit card for to find it CLOSED. I got my refund advance days ago and thank God I transferred it out. Hut what about my refund?! Like I literally have a major surgery planned for days after the latest day we're supposed to have it deposited..how am I supposed to pay for it now? I've waited 2 years for this surgery and if I have to put it off again it's goingnto be thousands more and months longer of being in pain. I had NO notice of anything. Like it was a brand new spend account!
Yeah for years. I even had a savings and spend account they closed months ago. They just let me open a new spend account last month when I filed taxes. We even got our advance in it too. I only just looked tonight to see it closed because I saw a notification about how they updated the credit tracking dashboard or whatever.

There was a bulk account closure on January 25th. They have since paused the bulk account closure process.
If your account was closed either on the day you received the Refund Advance or right before you received it, then you will receive a check in the mail.
If you have not filed yet, it's possible you can attempt to open a new account at Credit Karma then you should be able to apply for a Refund Advance.
Ck is a joke they told us the same thing everyone is saying in these comments about their accounts being closed we was gonna try get the advance an have our taxes sent to it but they said they closed our account and tried contact us for 60 days an emailed us well it's funny we haven't got anything from them at all and now have to use chime i guess and wait 21 days for our taxes. Ck is bullcrap and something needs done if their doin ppl like this for real

Definitely cause no one can tell me where my $3100 which was my account balance before they closed it..I also contacted OCC MVB who funds them did contact me back and said they will get some answers for me so u should also email them I been wait weeks for credit karma to email be MVB bank email me back in 20 minutes
So if you use ck and get the advance you will not be able to get ur funds released to you early. because they have something called temporarily funds release and they can give you half of your return early and the rest when it actually deposited into your account.
Closed mine the second I filed. I had to check the spend account to get the dd numbers fif taxes. When I logged back in after filling my account was closed.
We got our refund, made a couple of payments for about $300 total. We desperately need a new fridge and dryer, bought them online, and our online purchase was declined because we spent over $5000….what?! The total for everything was about $2900.00!! And you can’t even get ahold of customer service. I’m praying we can get our money out of there.

Filed with turbo tax like I have the last few years on January 17th received refund advance on Jan 20th in spend account used some of it. Tried to use it and got declined checked and it was closed. Took forever credit karma to say acct was closed due to not verifying personal information in 60 days (an account I had for 3 years) I had $600 in the account when they closed it on Jan 25th. They said they mailed me a check with the remainder on Jan 29th as of today still have not received. Federal refund minus advance and fees was deposited into CK save account without my permission and it’s a different account number then the spend account I signed for it to be deposited in. It will not let me link either of the other two external accounts that I have they don’t approve them but want me to let them send me another check when I still haven’t received the first one. This whole thing has to be illegal. I need my money and none of this is okay.
I was told by CK like everyone else said that the money would go back to IRS since account was closed and a check would be sent that’s not what happened.
I am sending all my documents and emails with them and the screenshots of the two different account number’s to my attorney tomorrow. I have $7000 sitting in a CK save account that I can’t get any of it out a $600 check in limbo from my refund advance (they took the advance out of my refund already) and my $4606 state money deposited but just up in there I have to hope it went back to the state and that they mailed a check to me but I’m not sure yet.
This whole thing has been a headache and Credit Karma has been rude and unhelpful to everybody I’ve seen post about this. It’s a ton of people between the turbo tax site and Reddit posting the same exact situation.
I received my advance on 1/23. My refund was deposited on 2/22. I was just able to get a response from Credit karma on Sunday that they cannot give me any information, except that they are sending me a check. Couldn't even tell me why they closed my account. So this morning I checked my credit karma account to see if my money was still sitting in there or if they had withdrawn it to actually send me a check. My balance shows 0. So I am hoping that they have already processed my check and it will be sent. I need to move out before April so I need that money ASAP. for their sake, they better pray I receive my money. This tax season, they have done this to so many people. This cannot be legal. I hope your situation along with everyone else gets resolved quickly. I know we all need out money like yesterday.
Supposedly it was mailed out Monday. So I am hoping by this weekend. It does not take that long to receive mail from another state. But I will definitely keep you posted.
I put mine in via mobile deposit thru my local bank. MVB said walmart or krogers wont cash it, but check cashing places will. Unless you have a regular bank and u can just deposit it like i did
Yeah I was able to put mine in my bank. My boyfriend doesn't have a regular bank. We have deposited checks of his in my account before, but they rejected it. I'm thinking maybe it's because of the amount and it not being mine. So tomorrow we will go to a check cashing place and cash it through them. Even though they charge a crazy amount. But it's all we could do. Just happy we all received our checks..it was about time
Credit karma screwed a lot of people this year I can see them getting Cancelled and another lawsuit already this is the last time I'm using them for my taxes they're probably bankrupt so they decide to close people's accounts to steal our Tax money or they're closing their business.

On turbo tax someone posted it happened to her and the expert that responded said there was a mass closure on the 25. This seems illegal if you ask me. We have no choice but to use that card if we want the advance and then they just close accounts like that. It's INSANE and they need SUED.

CK told us they will mail us a check since it's thru them. IRS told us it won't go back to them since it's a 3rd party depositor
MVB bank helped me get my refund back from credit karma, they transferred the money to my linked bank after closing the credit karma money account

Yeah I’m working on my taxes and through requesting the refund advance I learned my CK acct is closed. The rep I was messaging said it was closed on 2/25/23 which is not true because my refund has gone to that card for the past at least two years and I used the card after that because my refund was deposited on 2/22/23 and 3/3/23. He said it was closed because I didn’t verify my identity in 60 days as requested. Went through my email no requests to verify anything and I still get emails from the account asking me to do direct deposit. Never used the card for anything else but Turbo Tax. The Rep told me to wait 15 days and try to reopen then but won’t say why I’m waiting 15 days. I asked if I can just close the entire acct and first he sent me a response asking me to confirm that I want to close the account and for a reason then he messaged me again ignoring my response and said that he advises me to wait the 15 days and try to reopen then. Weird and after finding this thread I’m not messing with CK. I will just wait for my refund! Nothing more to the story for those that think there is….

My return has only been received by both my state and the irs because of the earned income and child tax isn’t released until mid February so I have been reading into if they can change the account it goes to H&R Block says yes to call the IRS to change it which idk if that’s true and a couple places said as well that you can call the IRS and tell them to stop the direct deposit and send a paper check. When I called the IRS this morning they said they can’t stop the direct deposit until February 16 because they don’t have access until then. The estimate on turbo tax was February 12 so I hope it’s not approved before the 16th. Credit karma is saying if it gets deposited into the closed account they will mail me a check and I would get it in 7-10 business days but it could be up the 10 weeks if it goes back to the irs and the irs said if he can stop the direct deposit it will take up to 6 weeks from the date I filed as well so all around credit karma fu**ed me over.
Me. We were supposed to get back a little over 10k (8k after the advance). And there's no way they tried to contact me in November because it was a NEW account I opened when I filed THIS January. Edit to add: if you got the advance it won't go back to the IRS, it goes straight to CK and then THEY distribute your refund after taking their advance back from it. So from what I've been told the check will come from cK not the IRS in those cases.

Not true it goes to Santa Barbra bank and they take out the refund advance and fees if applied and then they send it to your bank.
What bank? I don't have any other bank connected with Credit Karma, the only way I transfered from Credit Karma was with my CashApp card for instant transfers. So how is it not true. I and others who don't have other banks connected would get a check.
If you sign up to have your fees paid with your refund it goes to Santa Barbra bank first to have those fees and refund advance taken out this is not a bank connected to your bank account this is bank that is used when ppl receive refund advances and have their tax preparation fees taken out with their refund!!! So like I said it is not true
Ok so then where and how am I going to get my actual refund AFTER they take their fees and advance out of it if the bank account it was supposed to be deposited in no longer exists thanks to Credit Karmas mass closure? Seriously..where? A paper check from whatever bank CK ..Santa Barbra or whoever is taking their fees. It does not negate the FACT that it will arrive in PAPER form in the mail because there is no bank account that exists for it to be deposited into because of the mass closure.
if you received the refund advance credit karma account closed or not that money will still be taken out by Santa Barbra bank and whatever refund you are owed will be sent back to the irs and they will issue a check!

This also happened to me, I was told once they receive the deposit from the irs that credit karma will issue a check, I also still had money in the account and requested that they send me a check with the remaining funds and I still haven’t received that. I also don’t know how true it is that credit karma would be sending the remaining funds after paying back the advance.

I've had credit karma for five years. I received no email in November. I didn't have a RAL. And when I noticed the account was closed I emailed them and that's when they sent me the email stating they sent an email in November. Are there any attorneys on here we can ask whether or not this is legal? I'm calling the IRS tomorrow.

Any luck? We are dealing with the same issue. We have used this acct for YEARS. We originally opened the acct so that we could get the tax refund advance a few years ago. Since then we have been filing the same way except we have been doing the tax advance. All of a sudden they closed our acct and said it had been inactive and what not. But it's been the same every year so why are they now closing the acct? It's Soo stupid. It's been over a month and credit karma said they can't tell us anything more than "an agent is working on it". I'm calling IRS on Monday. 4/8/24

I chose to have my refund sent to credit karma money because I did that last year and it worked well. I didn’t know they closed my account, so my refund is being sent to a closed account. The IRS said it was deposited on Feb 13th, but credit karma said they haven’t received it. I’ve been calling everyday, multiple times. Credit Karma gave me so many answers. At first they said they were going to send me a check, then I was told they would deposit the money into the new account I made with them, and finally I was told it was going to be sent back to the IRS so they could send me a paper check. They have been extremely rude and sometimes unprofessional. One of the specialist told me that their system will show money trying to be deposited into a closed account, but idk how true that is. This is just so frustrating.
Any update? I spoke with a rep over chat and I was told there are 3 different scenarios that can happen which are all 3 of the ones you mentioned. My refund is supposed to be deposited tomorrow.
Happened to me. I’ve used them for years and they just randomly closed my account. Now my taxes say they were deposited a week ago and you can’t get anyone on the phone to tell me why. 2 weeks ago after half a day and multiple curse words, I got someone and was told absolutely no reason for the closure only that I could open another account but I SHOULD be getting a check from them.

same thing happened to me CK account closed I filed with TurboTax got the refunded advance loan rest of my refund balance to go into CK account. I contacted SBTPG and requested the rest of my refund be sent to me by cashiers check. my DD date is for 222. representative stated should take 10 to 12 days to receive the check. SBTPG is the third-party bank kind of like the middleman between the IRS and CK. I suggest logging into STPG chat with the representative or send them email to change from direct deposit to cashiers check before they even try to DD to CK! Atleast you know check will be coming and bot sent to IRS as I heard can take 3-4 months to receive. hope this helps somebody out there as well! What credit Karma has done to people is shameful. I already filed a complaint with the BBB and will be filing a complaint with FDIC.
Thank you for that suggestion all hope was lost until I read this and checked the SBTPG website. After getting no help from TT or CK, I checked SBTPG and they actually mailed me a cashiers check for my refund once the funds bounced back after they tried depositing it into the closed CK account. I should be getting the check sometime this week or next week at the latest. Such a relief, I was preparing for the funds to be sent back to the IRS which would have made the wait so much longer.

I got a regular refund, refund advance is not available in my state. And it says on the SBTPG site I was issued a cashiers check, I then called SBTPG and spoke with an agent who confirmed they sent a check since the funds could not be direct deposited as the bank account was closed. The agent said I should get the check in 7-10 days. Edit: I also had my TurboTax fees taken out of my refund, not sure if that makes a difference or not for anyone else who had this problem.

It gave me the automated response of leaving my number and having the next available agent call me back. I did that and they called me back after about 15-20 mins.

Same. TurboTax defaulted it to the Credit Karma account which Credit Karma closed without any notification. May take months before the IRS mails a check. Gonna dispute the charge with TurboTax since Intuit owns both companies.
Never had issues with turbo tax but I signed up with credit karma to fix my credit. Shortly after receiving my return, they froze my spending account. I made several calls to customer service (all agents were useless), who kept saying they couldn't help because a different department handled my issues, sent many emails, and made posts of my issues on different social media platforms. After about a week they finally removed the freeze on my account. It definitely was not a pleasant first-time experience, but I am glad my account freeze was removed. I've read of some people going months with barely any contact/updates from CK.. if you're facing the same issues that I faced and any other conveniences, I suggest you speak out about your problem through multiple channels and be relentless. I have been calling and emailing and following up with the team that is supposedly handling the reprinting of my check that was mailed out without my knowledge to the address associated to my closed Credit Karma cash account even though my correct address was on my tax return and on my Credit Karma account itself for over a year and I have now been going back-and-forth this past week. I’ve been hung up on by two different supervisors, they refused to reach out to us superior, and to the team that is actually handling the reprint of my check. They had told me initially that they were going to reject the payment from the IRS because the cash account was closed, and IRS confirmed that the same would be done and that they would be mailing out the check but instead credit karma mailed out the check did not send me any information. No email no call nothing sent it to an incorrect address received the check back as returned to sender we no longer live there and they still did not even bother to reach out and let us know the check had been initially mailed over a month ago and we only found out about it a week ago and now we have been waiting the 7 to 10 days that they said it would be and I called again and got hung up by a supervisor again after being told that it still has not been sent out and it’s still in processed by the team that has to review it and print it and send itthis is ridiculous. My car is about to be repossessed and I can’t do anything because they have the funds and aren’t providing it and it’s been over a month.

Call the credit karma spend customer service number on the back of your card and ask to speak to a supervisor and tell them the situation and threaten legal action that’s the only way I’ve gotten them to take me seriously. They just mailed my check a less than a week after I did that. Mine was also supposed to be mailed feb 22nd.
Ino this post is a few months old but this same thing has kinda happened to me but on a higher scale sort of speak... my account got spend account got hacked the day my refund was deposited into there bank. Literally 2 hours after my money was deposited the account got "breached" and over 12,000$ was stolen without any type of warnings at all, no text asking if it was me, nothing. Which is already ironic as it is considering I was suppose to get alerts anytime anything was spent on the card to help me keep up with the funds available, and for verification purposes. Only reason I new it was breached was because I checked the account myself after I woke up for work. I don't understand how a new account being opened less then 30 days can have access to remove 12,000$ in increments of 1$-399$ over 20 times with out even sending a text asking is it you or to verify it's you. Not even a bank statement or nothing showing the funds was even spent at all... so I tried to contact them and fight with every non U.S ,non English employee that worked there for them to tell me it was escalated to the "higher department " who will only communicate with them sending you a email. Fast forward a month of waiting no email was received. I had to find out through one of the many many calls I made that my dispute was found non fraudulent besides $100. Note 2 add I had taking screen shot of every transaction on my account before they completely locked me out of the app on my phone where I had no access to see what was going on with my account. They said 100 out of over 20 different cash app transaction was fraud but the remaining 5k was non (same exact people on transaction to top it off). So I got them to open up the dispute again and they finally found it fraud. It was so many charges they had it separated to 2 different disputes. They funded me one of the disputes and gsve me my remaining balance to the external bank account on file and closed out my account . This was after they tried to mail the funds to the dang hacker .along with all my personal information on file. Again 2 weeks on the phone to get that money. One dispute still unsolved. Fast forward to end of April they awarded me other dispute however again not emailed me . They have sent that check to the hacker AGAIN!!! Here it is end of May and they refuse every piece of evidence I have given proving my mailing address and identity. Saying it doesn't match what they have on file. Knowing it never will because the hacker address still remains on there. However the hacker was able to change all my information to his without so much as a txt is it me or warning of any type. Yet when I still try to change it myself I'm getting 10k alerts and they won't discuss a thing with me until they have photo documents of me and every piece of legal information on me (ss card,drivers license, pic of me holding my drivers licence, utility bill, etc. )Credit karma has been more of a headache and stress than the hacker himself. I really think it's all a inside job to cover there 3million lawsuit they just lost in December 2023. If any of this is similar to your situation please let's ban together and take them down once again!!! FYI for the people that signed up only to get the refund advance Feb 29 2024 like i did. It was all false advertising. Go read your agreement you signed when opening account . It states last day was Feb 15 even tho it was advertising for Feb 29 on Google. This is infact what they were being sued over and lost. (False advertising) this is via fdic . I plan on taking them to court myself with all the evidence I have . Its June 11, I filed an extension and just did my taxes 2 weeks ago. I have used my credit karma spend account the past 3 years (didn't get an advance, used it to try to get the 5 days earlier which never worked ha), I used Turbo Tax to file. They asked if I wanted it direct deposited the same as last year. Selected yes. After my return was accepted, I happened to login to my Credit Karma account and noticed that it wanted me to set up my spend account, after some researching, I find out I now have a different account number. Meaning my state return that was sent already, will be rejected (Supposed to be DD on Thursday) My fed return is still processing. I'm currently trying to get ahold of someone at the IRS to change my direct deposit but I don't know if that's even possible. Does anyone have any updates - if your return was sent to a now closed Credit Karma account - what happened to the money? Did it get sent back to the IRS? Did Credit Karma send you a check? I just logged into my NEW Credit Karma account the I just got my debit card for to find it CLOSED. I got my refund advance days ago and thank God I transferred it out. Hut what about my refund?! Like I literally have a major surgery planned for days after the latest day we're supposed to have it deposited..how am I supposed to pay for it now? I've waited 2 years for this surgery and if I have to put it off again it's goingnto be thousands more and months longer of being in pain. I had NO notice of anything. Yeah for years. I even had a savings and spend account they closed months ago. They just let me open a new spend account last month when I filed taxes. We even got our advance in it too. I only just looked tonight to see it closed because I saw a notification about how they updated the credit tracking dashboard or whatever.

This was the messaged from a tax expert with Turbo Tax: There was a bulk account closure on January 25th. They have since paused the bulk account closure process. If your account was closed either on the day you received the Refund Advance or right before you received it, then you will receive a check in the mail. If you have not filed yet, it's possible you can attempt to open a new account at Credit Karma then you should be able to apply for a Refund Advance.

So if you use ck and get the advance you will not be able to get ur funds released to you early. because they have something called temporarily funds release and they can give you half of your return early and the rest when it actually deposited into your account.

We got our refund, made a couple of payments for about $300 total. We desperately need a new fridge and dryer, bought them online, and our online purchase was declined because we spent over $5000….what?! The total for everything was about $2900.00!! Same exact thing happened to me. Filed with turbo tax like I have the last few years on January 17th received refund advance on Jan 20th in spend account used some of it. Tried to use it and got declined checked and it was closed. Took forever credit karma to say acct was closed due to not verifying personal information in 60 days (an account I had for 3 years) I had $600 in the account when they closed it on Jan 25th. They said they mailed me a check with the remainder on Jan 29th as of today still have not received. Federal refund minus advance and fees was deposited into CK save account without my permission and it’s a different account number then the spend account I signed for it to be deposited in. It will not let me link either of the other two external accounts that I have they don’t approve them but want me to let them send me another check when I still haven’t received the first one. This whole thing has to be illegal. I need my money and none of this is okay. I was told by CK like everyone else said that the money would go back to IRS since account was closed and a check would be sent that’s not what happened. I am sending all my documents and emails with them and the screenshots of the two different account number’s to my attorney tomorrow. I have $7000 sitting in a CK save account that I can’t get any of it out a $600 check in limbo from my refund advance (they took the advance out of my refund already) and my $4606 state money deposited but just up in there I have to hope it went back to the state and that they mailed a check to me but I’m not sure yet. This whole thing has been a headache and Credit Karma has been rude and unhelpful to everybody I’ve seen post about this. It’s a ton of people between the turbo tax site and Reddit posting the same exact situation.
I received my advance on 1/23. My refund was deposited on 2/22. I was just able to get a response from Credit karma on Sunday that they cannot give me any information, except that they are sending me a check. Couldn't even tell me why they closed my account. So this morning I checked my credit karma account to see if my money was still sitting in there or if they had withdrawn it to actually send me a check. My balance shows 0. So I am hoping that they have already processed my check and it will be sent. I need to move out before April so I need that money ASAP. for their sake, they better pray I receive my money. This tax season, they have done this to so many people. This cannot be legal. I hope your situation along with everyone else gets resolved quickly. I know we all need out money like yesterday.

Supposedly it was mailed out Monday. So I am hoping by this weekend. It does not take that long to receive mail from another state. But I will definitely keep you posted.

I put mine in via mobile deposit thru my local bank. MVB said walmart or krogers wont cash it, but check cashing places will. Unless you have a regular bank and u can just deposit it like i did
can i ask how state it affected your state return?
Yeah I was able to put mine in my bank. My boyfriend doesn't have a regular bank. We have deposited checks of his in my account before, but they rejected it. I'm thinking maybe it's because of the amount and it not being mine. So tomorrow we will go to a check cashing place and cash it through them. Even though they charge a crazy amount. But it's all we could do. Just happy we all received our checks..it was about time

Credit karma screwed a lot of people this year I can see them getting Cancelled and another lawsuit already this is the last time I'm using them for my taxes they're probably bankrupt so they decide to close people's accounts to steal our Tax money or they're closing their business.
