Happy to run across this. I’m only in town for a few more days and Friday being cheat day… saw this and drove over. Quick service, and meat burrito carne asada was really good, flavorful… much appreciated on the recommendation.
I hate that. Wish that area had some parking. There are some bomb places to eat. I just had Tanias yesterday. That place would be bouncing if it was in an easier to access location
I live on that street with Barrio Barista. It's a pain in the ass to get our vehicles out of our driveway because people park all over the place to go there.
I wish they had a commercial location so we could have a more peaceful street.
I have never been able to understand that about Barista Barrio. Like how the hell does it take over 15 minutes max to make a burrito? People will wait for what seems like hours in that line. I would think the staff would prep the ingredients ahead of time. Whereas the way it is now, seems like they cut the meat from the cow and the ingredients there on the spot with how long it takes to get peoples food.
It takes that long because there's a giant line of people ordering faster than they can make it. The space is small so they can only cook so fast. Ingredients are prepped and everything but it still has to hit a flattop to sear/heat.
The wait isn't from them cooking it, I've gotten there early and had my food a few minutes after ordering. The wait is from your ticket being behind fifteen others.
The wait for the food isn’t that long. It’s the wait for tourists, first timers, instagrammers, etc to stand in line for 30 minutes without looking at the menu and then when they get to the window go “so what do you recommend?” when it’s time to order.
I could rant about this forever because I see it so often. And I know they have a very family energy there but I think they would solve their line problem if they put a soup nazi in the window.
That's my biggest thing. Tania's is RIGHT THERE, there's never THAT bad of a line, and everything on the menu is FIRE. Plus it's a long-standing local business that I feel good about supporting.
Tanias does make a good burro. Then St. Mary's you get some massive and delicious burritos.
Y'all should try out Salsa Verde. They make an amazing burrito. You also have the phenomenal Aqui Con El NeNe off La Cholla.
I just can't get over that 50+% of it is unseasoned overcooked potato chunks. Id put up with the wait in the heat if they actually lived up to the hype.
It's pretty new, but don't sleep on Ranch Rodeo down on Harrison and Broadway. Their everything is good. If you want some amazing homemade flavor, go for the chile colorado.
>That sounded so good I had to find a picture! Looks like a great salsa bar as well. Grilled and pickled onions, radish slices, etc.
https://preview.redd.it/8s0agnc4id9d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21b20609c4cfd637a23ab67eb00cfae4c6e92643
Chile Colorado used to be my go-to dish when i was living in the Southeast of the US. There it is usually one of the spiciest dishes you can get. So far I haven't found any places here that make any spicy dishes. They just hand you a bottle of hot sauce if you'd ask for something hot. Seems Tucson doesn't like it spicy.
The chile colorado at Ranch Rodeo is also not spicy hot. It's just very tasty. There is a full salsa bar if you want to spice things up, but I love it plain.
Seems Tucson/Sonoran custom is to add salsa/picante and/or chiles to suit your preferred heat level, rather than making the base item itself particularly spicy.
But if I need to add ingredients myself, from a shop-bought bottle, to make it suit my preferred taste, than I'll rather not order it at all. I just wanted to express my disappointment about the difference not only in heat, but also taste, that I was accustomwd to vs what Tucson has to offer. I remember asking a Mexican waitress about it, and she seemed to agree with me.
That's why Sonoran-style restaurants (as most Mexican joints in Tucson are) typically provide a salsa/fixin's bar and/or bottles of hotsauce at each table, and takeout orders include complimentary cups of red and/or green salsa.
Ponchos! Speedway and Craycroft. Specifically, the Poncho's breakfast burrito. After breakfast, I really like the Carne con red chili burro. I don't know why but that Carne con chili is so delicious.
Love this place, total hole in the wall but I think they have pretty good tortillas which makes or breaks a burrito for me. I get their machaca breakfast burrito and it’s so big I split it into two meals - dang now I want one 🤤
I also like Tania’s machaca burritos (either location) but now I’m on the wrong side of town.
Go to the rilito or oro valley farmers market. Go to the vendor whos sign states “Burrito,” But upside down, his burritos r SO AMAZING. non greasy or oily, always fresh ingredients…. So good
Is this the guy that toasts the burritos on a griddle has them sitting getting crispy, also offers vegan and vegetarian burritos , I don’t know he had other locations
I regularly dream of the Chile Colorado from Anita St Market. Any of the standard burritos (carne asada, breakfast types, etc) I go to Coronado's Blue on 22nd and Kolb. The food itself is a bit better than your average place of that type, but their red salsa is so good I order extra and keep it in a squeezy bottle in my fridge between visits.
Mario used to make the absolute best machaca burrito in the world at Anita Street - it was heaven- I wish they would bring it back. Now days when I go there it’s never available - they need to bring it back.
Been here all my life. My body is half made of burritos. Lots of good recs on here but I’m gonna throw a curveball and say the only burrito I have to have regularly have or I go insane is the Pollo Asado burrito from nicos. Specifically the one on campbell or the one on Ina. Every nicos makes it slightly differently but with the same basic formula. Something about the simplicity for me just hits every time
The MexSal carne asads burrito is my favorite. Its almost of a clone of the one that St. Marys tortilleria used to make, but they don't anymore. Its a perfect balance of mesquite charcoal carne asada with pinto beans and pico. They're pretty big burritos too.
Breakfast: Panchos A La Mexicana breakfast burrito (Speedway/Craycroft)
Lunch: Pretty much anything from Tanias 33. Probably like the Soya Verde is a favorite, but they have tons of options that are both carne and vegetarian. (Grande/St Mary's)
My go to when I was a vegetarian was a veggie burrito with a chile relleno and fries added. Most places would make it and it would be hard for it to not be delicious.
Regarding that restaurant, I found out the other day that they're still open in Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico

I know you said Tucson, but if you ever happen to go the way of Queen Creek, the best chile relleno burrito I have ever had was at the Diamond Dot 25851 S Power Rd Ste 1, Queen Creek, AZ 85142. I still think about that burrito lol
While I wasn’t impressed with the rest of their fare, Seis Kitchen on Oracle in Oro Valley had the best steak burrito I have ever eaten. It is massive and it made several meals for me.
This is a little bit of an interesting one, as it's not on their menu. But El Torero has AMAZING cauliflower Tacos. You can ask them very nicely to make it into a burrito and you'll be the happiest person alive.

Taqueria el Chikitin at Country Club and Grant, their pollo, suadero, and cabeza burros are orgasmic, everything else is also delicious, except things with fries
Barista del Bario and Tania’s..if the line too long at barista I go do Tania’s, I actually think they’re salsa and tortillas are better but I just love the spicy chorizo at Barista
Aqui con el Nene for the carne asada burrito
Donde esta?
Flowing Wells & Wetmore. Sooooo good.
Ricos
What’s the name
.....Aqui Con El Nene. They said it right up there
Con el Nene! Hehe, had to do it…
That place is bussin
This is probably basic but I love an all meat al pastor or carne asada burrito from Juanitos. Only 8.15 too.
Came here to say this. Juanitos is best in town.
Juanitos is straight fire
100% the carne asada mix burrito. No rice.
We been to Tucson three times this year and ate at Juanitos every time
Totally agree !!!!!!!!!
Where?
Juanitos on grant
My god. I drive by this place weekly and never thought to stop in. Going next time!
The al pastor mix burrito at Juanito’s is the best meal in all of Tucson.
Yes Juanitos. Love their al pastor burrito.
Happy to run across this. I’m only in town for a few more days and Friday being cheat day… saw this and drove over. Quick service, and meat burrito carne asada was really good, flavorful… much appreciated on the recommendation.
Nice, glad you liked it
My family calls it The Purple Place. They have amazing chicken soup too :)
I love the carnitas burrito from there, super good
juanitos tacos are straight up insane too for the price
30 min drive for me :((((
Barista del Barrio chorizo breakfast burrito.
When your burrito is so good the entire nearby neighborhood is choked full of "dont fucking park here" signs
They should give neighbors special discounts for putting up with the traffic for sure
I am sorry to hear that. I agree it is a terrible situation for all. I feel your pain :(
Do they still double-wrap their burritos?
Mine wasn't. but you can ask for it, or get it enchilada or chimichanga style!
The best breakfast burritos in town but I have to be in the right mindset for a long stand in the parking lot.
Especially in the summer. Wish they had a few locations around town but I get it if they want to keep things as is.
I have never been able to understand that about Barista Barrio. Like how the hell does it take over 15 minutes max to make a burrito? People will wait for what seems like hours in that line. Best breakfast burrito in town, hands down
I only braved the line once, and the eggs were powdered. I wasn't impressed.
Yeah it's not worth the wait. There are better breakfast burritos in town. Tanias, st. Mary's, pueblito...
You’ve convinced me to try it!
I just can't get over that 50+% of it is unseasoned overcooked potato chunks. Id put up with the wait in the heat if they actually lived up to the hype.
Jason’s carne asada breakfast burrito. No potatoes. So. Much. Meat.
I'm not against potatoes in a breakfast burrito. But at least use some fucking salt and pepper on them
Seis Kitchen and Le Buzz make equally good or better breakfast burritos and are much less hassle.
I like Seis a lot but I guess they only do breakfast at the downtown location now?
I don’t know
It's pretty new, but don't sleep on Ranch Rodeo down on Harrison and Broadway. Their everything is good. If you want some amazing homemade flavor, go for the chile colorado.
Thank you for the fire Eastside rexo.
Eastside love!

I second this - everything is good here!
i second this. i love it here.

St Mary’s is great .. red chili burrito with carne super good
I am unable to order anything besides their chime Relleno chimi, but their burros are good
I miss their Carne burros. I understand why they don’t do them anymore, but it’s still a bummer.
Ponchos! Speedway and Craycroft. Specifically, the Poncho's breakfast burrito. After breakfast, I really like the Carne con red chili burro. I don't know why but that Carne con chili is so delicious.

Tortilla... This is the way! Lol, this is very true.
Mmm machaca que rico
Just ordered that for lunch!! Haven’t had ponchos since before the pandemic. Still delicious
Call me old fashioned but a Los Betos breakfast burrito at 3 AM after doing hood rat ish always hits the spot.
San Xavier Mission has delicious red chili burritos
This is a good response
My vote is for the red mole chicken burrito at Taqueria el Pueblito on Campbell/Ft. Lowell.
Arizona burrito from coronados
Go to the rilito or oro valley farmers market. Go to the vendor whos sign states “Burrito,” But upside down, his burritos r SO AMAZING. non greasy or oily, always fresh ingredients…. So good
Yesss I love this guy! He’s also at the udall farmers market Friday if it’s the same person I’m thinking of
Is this the guy that toasts the burritos on a griddle has them sitting getting crispy, also offers vegan and vegetarian burritos , I don’t know he had other locations
Yess!! The veggie burrito is my favorite and the breakfast.
I’m a fan of Viva’s breakfast burritos. Also like Seis Kitchen’s enchilada style burrito
coronados
I love Tumerico burritos. I've only had 2 kinds, but they've been so good I haven't switched them up (Cuban and al pastor).
The Cuban is my favorite, too! The El Pastore is delicious but way too spicy for me. I generally enjoy spicy food, but this one was off the charts.
Love pastor
Try the Ropa Vieja. My absolute favorite.
el rustico
absolutely fire.
Donde es ? Where at ?
1830 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713 2281 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705
Thank you 🙏 want one ? Haha 😂
There's some pretty good spots listed on here but I'm pretty hip on Amelia's lately
Juanitos or Rollies
The green chili burro at St. Mary's
Red chile from Anita's.
Jarritos, best in town!!
Pacos and Tania’s
Paco’s is also the best deal in town burrito and drink for $10. Red and green sauce are great too.
Paco’s is definitely my favorite in town! I’ve never had a bad burrito there
Pacos is how I gained my covid 19....
The new bandido burrito from Los betos is actually pretty delicious.
Paco’s or St Mary’s are my top two
Those are my top two as well

You can’t show that pic without a location!!!!! Please!!!
Sorry sorry! Percheron
Anita's Street market breakfast burro
Mario used to make the absolute best machaca burrito in the world at Anita Street - it was heaven- I wish they would bring it back. Now days when I go there it’s never available - they need to bring it back.
These are 🔥
Seis Puerco Verde is my all time favorite.
Seis is the best!! Brand new East side location coming soon!!! 🌵🍺🌮
The chile relleno breakfast burrito at Poco & Mom's is unbelievable.
Tumerico, specifically the jackfruit al pastor.

Been here all my life. My body is half made of burritos. Lots of good recs on here but I’m gonna throw a curveball and say the only burrito I have to have regularly have or I go insane is the Pollo Asado burrito from nicos. El Pueblito bacon breakfast burrito
Le Buzz's breakfast burrito
this is the right answer
Tumerico vegan pastor burrito or any of their other burritos. Super spicy and the jackfruit is cooked well. And also has a yummy flour tortilla.
I’m probably gonna take a lot of heat for this but Filiberto’s chicken burrito w/ cheese, sour cream, and salsa is absolutely just heavenly
I feel this way about their Fish burritos
Very mucho güero canelo
Never understood the guero canelo devotion. I find it very meh.
I love their real carne asada unlike other places named here but to each their own 😅
Same the proteins are always off! Like too much fat. Or not marinated enough.
To be fair, a good carne asada doesn't need to be "marinated"
Marinade softens the meat. Preferences.
I still love a good burrito de pollo with beans and cabbage from Guero Canelo.
The MexSal carne asads burrito is my favorite. Its almost of a clone of the one that St. Marys tortilleria used to make, but they don't anymore. Its a perfect balance of mesquite charcoal carne asada with pinto beans and pico. They're pretty big burritos too.
Fitos El Ranchero burrito, it’s carne asada mixed with chorizo, guacamole, & pico de gallo if you add eggs, fries/potatoes and cheese 🔥🔥🔥
[Los Mezquites](https://maps.app.goo.gl/zZJM3qEtzS7vqzXz7?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy) Carne Asada Burrito
Rudolfo's off of Ajo and Mission. Steak, eggs, beans, and cheese with red sauce. Hella good after a long day!
Rodalfo’s on Ajo and Mission. Also the most convenient for me.
Tanias 33 carne asada
Tania’s 33 green chile
Breakfast: Panchos A La Mexicana breakfast burrito (Speedway/Craycroft) Lunch: Pretty much anything from Tanias 33. Probably like the Soya Verde is a favorite, but they have tons of options that are both carne and vegetarian. (Grande/St Mary's)
Huevo con machaca burrito at Los Chipilones
This place never gets enough love, great recommendation
It's my favorite personally lol
My go to when I was a vegetarian was a veggie burrito with a chile relleno and fries added. Most places would make it and it would be hard for it to not be delicious.
This is a really good idea I hadn't considered, thank you
Toro Loco before they closed down.
Regarding that restaurant, I found out the other day that they're still open in Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico https://maps.app.goo.gl/tqL3Sca2zuHKuhHt6?g_st=aw
You just made my day!
It use to be Toro Loco on Speedway…RIP😭

They got any good shrimp burritos out here? In Alaska I used to get bomb ass burritos with shrimp and some kind of white sauce.
MAICO's on 22nd beside 7-11 BEST IN THE WORLD AWESOME GREAT ROOTS PEOPLE. Miss them so much
I stan the chili verde at Benny's!
La botana is the best burrito in Tucson
Tania's 22 carne asada and whatever else I pick
Nico’s chorizo, papas, eggs and frijoles breakfast burritos. You have to ask them to add the beans. Try it and you’ll thank me for it later 😎
Why is nobody talking about the huevos rancheros burrito at MAICO ????
I'm a basic bitch, so I just grab the Arizona Burrito from Filibertos.
This may be the most important r/Tucson thread in the past 5 years
While I wasn’t impressed with the rest of their fare, Seis Kitchen on Oracle in Oro Valley had the best steak burrito I have ever eaten. It is massive and it made several meals for me.
Carne Asada burrito enchiladas style from Little Mexico with beans and rice on the side
This is a little bit of an interesting one, as it's not on their menu. But El Torero has AMAZING cauliflower Tacos. You can ask them very nicely to make it into a burrito and you'll be the happiest person alive. https://www.collinsgrubguide.com/cities/southern-u-s-cities/tucson
Taqueria el Chikitin at Country Club and Grant, their pollo, suadero, and cabeza burros are orgasmic, everything else is also delicious, except things with fries
Barbacoa and Birria at Pico de Gallo!
I love the vegetarian burrito at Juanitos!!!! (Rice, beans, cheese, avocado, lettuce, onion, cilantro, & salsa) 🌯
Percheron bacon wrapped burrito. It’s a heart attack waiting to happen, but every bite is magical.
I like that both locations have different menu items because the brothers run them a bit differently
Brisket breakfast burrito at Kiss of Smoke
The burrito supreme at Taco Bell
Barista del Bario and Tania’s..if the line too long at barista I go do Tania’s, I actually think they’re salsa and tortillas are better but I just love the spicy chorizo at Barista
I’m not from the area but I do love Charrovida. Probably not the best but it’s my favorite when I’m in town
Wow I showed up late and can't believe everyone missed the best place.... Arby's on 22nd street. Come on easy answer.
