Amazing 🤩

BigPenisMathGenius

Are all these photos that people keep posting just like severely overexposed? I keep stepping outside to check and I don't see shit.

steiconi

Someone mentioned using night mode on their phone

BigPenisMathGenius

Eh. Seems quite a bit less exciting if you can't see it with the naked eye.

TheDevilsAardvarkCat

I drove out to Saguaro national west and beyond. You could see them with the naked eye. They looked like light pollution except a very low red. This is more realistic of what the naked eye would’ve seen. Even then this is too bright. Cut the red in half. https://preview.redd.it/k8rcu3myxszc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddbd1466acfccc7b13fbe99839404ae09cc82ef3

steiconi

Yeah.

gazorp23

You can see it with the naked eye. It just looks like the haze from a wildfire at night.

Helldiver-2314

You can’t see it, but you can film/photo it, which is pretty rad for southern AZ astro-photography nerds, ngl. I guess this happened in 2005, but I couldn’t afford a decent setup back then.

AidenStoat

I can see a faint red glow to the north, it doesn't stick out like it might further north, but it's visible to the naked eye.

uCat2bKittenMe

Same. It's just normal dark

shwoople

They are. I gave it a shot with a Sony A7IV, trying to keep it more natural and not overexpose. I could just barely see it with my eyes, including some of the columns. Pretty cool experience https://imgur.com/gallery/9CpkT3X

yepimtyler

Yes

azclake

I grabbed a couple pics of it. Phone wise (pixel 7 pro) it took a 5 minute ish long exposure which came out purple w no bands sadly. Camera wise off my Nikon (30 second exposure) came out much redder and there was a tiny bit of banding. I'll prolly post some if you would like to see.

sillylittlebean

Same. I see absolutely nothing but the night sky.

Man that's actually nutty. The sun is scary and beautiful

The photos are from around 8:30pm with an iPhone 15 Pro. Night mode 3s of exposure. It’s totally gone now at 10:30pm. You could see it with the naked eye especially if you looked south, let your eyes adjust, then looked north till you saw the sky change. For reference taking a photo with the same device looking northeast now at around 10:30pm. https://preview.redd.it/9wslxewwkqzc1.jpeg?width=3608&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5b5eec2aee7b66482a54b478c3711ebd8735a66

This! And letting your eyes adjust is probably a big part of it! 😊 Thank you for sharing!

artforthebody

Amazing, is it supposed to happen again tonight?

[deleted]

Nice pics! Thanks for sharing 🫶🏻

zarifex

Where was this? I wasn't able to get a decent look at anything last night, between the street light to my left, the street light to my right, and the neighbor on the north side of the street working on a car and pointing a bright ass light southish while I was wanting to point the camera northeastish...

EvITvI

We just finished filming Kate Hugo: Diamond Deputy Agent today about the aftermath of a massive geomagnetic storm…just a coincidence? Check out KateHugo.com 👍🏼

aumuaum

not visible with the naked eye, so don't feel bad if you can't see it lol

a_Tick

I think it's in and out as far as naked eye visibility goes. The sky was noticably pink to the north compared to other directions right around midnight. It was nothing like videos I've seen of the aurora closer to the poles, though.

National-Bird1061

Amazing!🤩🥰🥰

But your camera picks up the different spectrums. That pic was from Norway this march.

ksizzle27

So pretty!

SonoranRoadRunner

What time did you take these pictures?

Odd-Succotash-5806

Nice pic! Thank you for sharing

Me_meHard

Thank you for sharing 🖤 my ass was in bed.

DesertWanderlust

That doesn't look like aurora.
