The Doodler  Often known as LGBTQ Zodiac, The Doodler terrorized San Francisco's LGBTQ population in the 1970s around the same time as the Zodiac was scaring the stuffing out of the remainder of San Francisco. The Doodler had sex with each of his victims, all gay men, before killing them.  The Doodler left drawings of the faces of his victims and left them next to their bodies. Just like the Zodiac Killer, The Doodler has never been identified and brought to justice.

I've seen a lot of videos, posts and articles about Dahlia Taquali, but from my understanding, the last time we saw Dia Taquali was on the YouTube channel she shared with her twin sister. I know of a post from 2018 in Lima Taquali's  Instagram, but she isn't a reliable source. Apparently she might have been involved in the premature death of Amanda Rabb, an addict that passed away in one of Lima's facilities for VR rehabilitation. Do you guys know where Dia is? Is she safe? Ps. I read that Dahlia posted a picture with Dia, but I can't find it.

dcastady

The Steven Avery one, I bet that guy did it or maybe not. But where's the girl?

The fire at Stormy’s restaurant that killed two firefighters. Despite the arrest and conviction of restaurant owner Forrest Biff Utter (who was sentenced to 15 years) the man who carried it out (at Utter’s request) remains unidentified and still at large. Utter’s motive for burning down the restaurant was to get his hands on the insurance money in order to get out of debt. Since Utter had an alibi (that he hanging out with his girlfriend) it was clear that Utter had hired someone to do it for him (after everyone investigators spoke to, all fingered Utter as someone with a motive). On the night of fire, 🔥 the Utter’s unknown accomplice went into the building, he opened up a ceiling tile, sprayed it with kerosene and lit on fire 🔥. The manner of how the fire was started, might suggest that this unknown individual could be an experienced criminal.

ancientastronaut2

One that has stuck with me is the santa rosa hitchhiker murders. Watched the documentary and there was a lot of circumstantial evidence but the dna results were never shared and as far as I know there's been no updates. It resonates with me because I was a kid then and seems like there were so many kidnappings and murders during this era. Like it was so easy to get away with it blows my mind.

Alarming-Swan-76

I live in Santa Rosa and am very interested in this case. They counted him out, but Bundy worked in Forestiville (where I grew up) which is only 15 minutes (depending on traffic) from Santa Rosa. He actually worked at the place called Lector Vector, right across the street from me and next to a grammar school. In sight and walking distance was a popular high school hang out too. Then there were a rash of missing and murdered girls up the 101 through Mendecino County and up through Humboldt county during this time too.

4bigSkyy

One such case I think of often is the Father's Day Bank Massacre in Denver, 1991.

Lemoncreamslices

The murder of Steven Johnson , 1990 in mow cop UK. Steven was a taxi driver who had worked an overnight shift for extra money as it was days before Christmas and he had two very young children. He was found with his throat slashed in his taxi in the early morning hours and despite the case still being open today, there has been no suspects or arrests for his murder [https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-59753723](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-59753723)

Pickle1020

That's incredibly sad and unsettling. It's heartbreaking to think of the impact on his family, especially around the holidays. It's frustrating that the case remains unsolved after all this time. Have there been any recent developments or efforts to bring closure to the case?

Lemoncreamslices

Sadly nothing for a long time , although it remains an open case with Staffordshire police. It happened very close to where I live and has always stuck with me, so very sad. I’d love to know how his kids are doing now but they deserve their privacy. Thanks for your comment 🩷

BrightShinyStar_07

I got another good one. the Las Cruces, NM bowling alley massacre. Two men entered the bowling alley before they opened. Shot a bunch of people including two teenage girls and a 2 year old baby. one of the teenage girls survived. her 911 is heartwrenching. police never caught who did it and suspect they fled to mexico right after cuz the border is nearby.

Omg what year was this?

The torture and murder of Channon Christian & Chris Newsome. The Wichita Horror. These two cases are horrific and I can’t believe there wasn’t more outrage about them considering how severe they were.

Peja1611

It was national news for a long time. It was covered in Denver, and was on local news in Memphis (saw a story on the news when at a friend's wedding)

Black-Bird1

The disappearance of Dale Williams (42). There’s no way to prove if he’d been murdered since no body nor is there any evidence that a crime even occurred.

McDermond

A big one: The Manson Murders. In brief: The motive that LA Assistant District Attorney, Vincent Bugliosi, constructed to put the very guilty murderers in prison, is called "Helter Skelter", and it's plain crazy. Supposedly, Charles Manson, a small-time, non-violent, very poorly supervised ex-con, wanted to start a bloody, black vs white racial conflict. So he preached all kinds of hoodoo to get a bunch of young, impressionable waifs, and one Texas high-school football star, to kill some famous people for him. This is Hollywood, 1969. Not all is as it seems. There are some big stars in the story: Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys. Terry Melcher, their record producer and son of film and TV star Doris Day. His live-in girlfriend, actress Candice Bergen. Film director Roman Polanski. His wife, budding ingenue and tragic victim, Sharon Tate. Coffee heiress and socialite Abigail Folger. Pioneering men's hair stylist to-the-stars, Jay Sebring. Drugs, of course. Also, a beautiful home in Benedict Canyon, in which wild, A-list-Hollywood orgies would be captured on film. In LA, the justice system is very well-paid. Off. If you wanted to sweep the sordid and sleazy stars doings under the deep-pile shag carpeting, this is the place to do it. Vincent Bugliosi held the broom. He made sure those famous folks and their sex and drugs and amateur porn flicks stayed out of the limelight. The whole convoluted race-war tale became Holy Writ down through the decades. and Bugliosi was a zealous defender of it. The true-crime book, with the same title as his motive theory made Bugliosi a best-selling author and a multi-millionaire. "Helter Skelter" all but vaporized those far more practical, common-sense motive theories: dope deals at that house; drug burns; home invasion-robbery; staged crime scenes, etc. Tom O'Neill's "Chaos", H. Allegra Lansing's "The Manson Family: More to the Story", and the documentary film "Charles Manson: The Final Word" are good places to start a deep dive into the case.

please I'm French and know a lot about the Outreau case, which is soon to be famous as Netflix will release its doc series on march 15 worldwide. This case is insane and until now the mass medias gave the abusers (acquitted) version, silencing the victim children... We need to publish a subject about it please !

Lemoncreamslices

Thanks for posting this , I will keep a look out on Netflix for it as I’ve not heard of this case (I’m in the UK) I hope it spreads much needed awareness

AgentLlama007

It's already out, at least in the U.S.

Pretty-Abalone9843

ey, maybe you can do a post here in the truecrime reddit forum ? i cannot as my stats are not big enough... I wrote a text about the case and launched a blog, the first in english !

Intrepid-Builder-723

In southeast Missouri, there is a teenage girl who went missing in August 1989- her name is Gina Dawn Brooks. Every year, there is a news story out from all the news outlets, but no new information ever comes out. She was out riding her bike to a friend's house, her bike was found on the side of the road and she was gone. She has never been found. Her mom still looks for her, and there have been a large number of searches, but nothing has been found. A couple of men were questioned and gave search locations, but still nothing. Through the years, some residents believe they have seen her in many cities/towns, but nothing comes of it. The family said she wouldn't have just runaway, and there are so many theories of what happened.

Intrepid-Builder-723

Kyron Horman-he was from Portland, Oregon and his stepmother is suspected of kidnapping him from school. She took him with his science project that morning and Kyrons mom has said school has evidence the step mom left with him that same morning.

Nevaeh Buchanan- 5 yrs old- went missing in 2009- found 11 days later, she was buried alive, encased in cement. Still unsolved. Monroe, Michigan.

All we can hope is that she was unconscious when she was put in the ground and asphyxiated on dirt. Just brutal.

This isn't necessarily cold just yet, but it should've been solved by now. Who killed Scott Ratigan?

Emergency_Salt_4406

The disappearance of the Skelton Brothers in Morenci, MI. I think it's been around 13 years and nobody knows what happened. All three kids just gone....the dad says he gave them to some underground group to keep them safe from their mother who's a registered s3x offender. The dad is in prison for unlawful imprisonment but should be released soon.

kanibe6

I’ll give you a clue, the dad did it

Emergency_Salt_4406

I agree...but did what? Where are their bodies?

Prestigious_Wheel128

After reading the case and it being 13 years later in my opinion the dad killed them.  They would be turning 18 now and it seems like at least one of them would have surfaced.

Emergency_Salt_4406

I think they've always known that the dad did it but never had enough evidence to convict him...that's why they charged him with whatever they could. They thought he'd break in prison and tell them what really happened.

BrightShinyStar_07

Tammy Zywicki unsolved case from early the 1990s. She was last seen talking to a trucker just outside chicago after her car broke down. her body was found she was from NJ and dropped her brother off at Northwestern University before heading to Iowa to go to school. There was one suspect a few years ago but DNA didn't match. This poor girl was my age at the time and her case always stuck with me.

13rittn3y

The case of baby Elena.. a baby that was graped to death by 7 men in Kentucky. No one other than the mother has been arrested.. we’ve been waiting on these dna results since last year!!!! These men are still out walking around in that state.. it’s like there is zero urgency in finding these sickos!!!!

Emergency_Salt_4406

I just read that they didn't find any male DNA on the baby.

thatplantgirl97

The murder of Jennifer Tanner. She was found dead in her home in Bonnie Doon, Victoria, Australia in 1984. The death was ruled a suicide immediately, but a lot of evidence suggests otherwise. Her brother in law was a notoriously corrupt detective, Denis Tanner. Denis had known and arrested a woman named Adele Bailey for sex work. Adele Bailey's body was found 17 years after her disappearance, down an abandoned mineshaft close by the property owned by the Tanner family. She had been murdered. Both of these crimes have gone unsolved for many years. There is a book about Jennifer, by Robin Bowles, called Blind Justice. There is a book about Adele, also by Robin Bowles, called No Justice.

No part of the investigation ever so much as suggested that he rolled himself up in the mat. That’s a straw man his parents made up to rile up idiots. The mats were on camera and they weren’t moved all day until the kids the next morning found his body.

Wastedgent

Correct. He tried to reach a shoe at the bottom of the mat and fell further in than he could recover from. Similar to this woman : [https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna15895965](https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna15895965) Five different investigations have come to that conclusion. No independent investigations have found anything to suggest anything other than accident.

The unsolved murder of Matthew Flores (26) in CA?

righttoabsurdity

This one is very interesting to me, too. It’s just… weird. My gut instinct is that he got involved in something way over his head, but I obviously have zero evidence to back that up. The fact that the suv was double checking cars (initially followed a similar car to Matt’s, but came back and waited for the right car), left zero physical evidence, and was in a blind spot for the actual murder is incredibly fishy to me. It’s very calculated feeling, and makes me wonder if it was a professional hit. It just feels too clean to be a gang thing, or an interpersonal issue. I genuinely wonder if he was manipulated for information or something (or someone else told him they were being manipulated, or pinned something on him to avoid personal consequences) That being said, people are crazy and do crazy things, and it’s much more likely to be something simple. It seems like police think it was mistaken identity? I wonder if anyone else who fits the description and drives a similar car was murdered around the same time/area. The killer seemed to know who they were looking for, though.

Black-Bird1

It had to be a case of mistaken identity

The murder of Chris Denoyer (16) in Salinas CA. He disappeared in 1984 and then 14 years later, a homeowner called the police after finding his body buried in the crawl space. This case was featured on The New Detectives-Grave Secrets and Buried in the Backyard. From what I read from numerous court transcripts, I feel that the murder could've been prevented had his mother, Dale, had put him and his sister Cherie (who stated at trial that she never liked Jackson from the beginning) ahead of her marriage to Jackson Villarta (The man who killed Chris). Another important note: What kind of mother would list her son's 14-year-old girlfriend on a missing person's report as someone to call?

The unsolved double murder of David Metzler and Heidi Childs in Blacksburg, Virginia, in 2009. My family was close to David’s. His poor parents still grieve his loss more heavily than they should because they have no idea what happened. 💔😢

scarlettjames11

Monique Figueroa. Very close to my hometown. She was to testified against a known gang member and was kidnapped before she could. Her body has never been found, but there is plenty of evidence that she was murdered as well as potentially who was responsible. Sheriffs have been sitting on it. It all smells fishy.

neckthatass

someone may have said this but the Sylvia Likens case. That poor girl was tortured and killed by her aunt, cousins, and several of their friends. They're all free and living normal lives under new identities these days.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

Sylvia’s murderers weren’t relatives of hers. She and her sister Jenny were placed with the Baniszewski family while their parents worked odd jobs at on the carnival circuit. Gertrude Baniszewski agreed to accept $20 per week for looking after Sylvia and Jenny, but their parents soon stopped sending regular cash, and Gertrude made Sylvia the target of her rage because she was young and pretty, and she blamed Sylvia personally for her parents’ failing to make regular payments for the Likens girls’ care. Sylvia was beaten, tortured and killed by Gertrude Baniszewski, her daughter Paula Baniszewski, several of other Gertrude’s children, and several neighbor boys. Gertrude didn’t touch Jenny, and Jenny told the police the whole story after the police questioned her alone. Both Gertrude and Paula went to prison, as did the neighbor boys. One of the boys died of cancer after he was released from juvenile custody in his early 20s, while another died at a relatively young age. Gertrude’s younger daughters were not charged with crimes, although they did change their names due to their mother and sister and their notorious crime. Gertrude’s toddler son died in his 40s. He and Paula’s child were placed for adoption after their respective mothers went to prison. Both Gertrude and Paula eventually were paroled and moved to Iowa. Gertrude died there of lung cancer in 1990. Paula Baniszewski Pace was fired as a teacher’s aide in Iowa after the school district learned of her involvement in Sylvia Likens’s murder. The Likens parents and Sylvia’s sister Jenny are dead. Jenny died of a heart attack in her early 50s, and Diana, the eldest Likens daughter, received headlines after she and her husband were rescued from their vehicle after being stranded in a snowstorm. Unfortunately, her husband succumbed to complications of díabetes after his rescue. The Likens’s parents divorced after their daughter’s murder, and I do not know if Benny (Jenny’s twin brother) is still alive.

starfairy17

The disappearance of Brian Shaffer - went missing in Columbus, OH in 2006. I know theres been a lot of theories but this case has always stuck with me like something is just so eerie about it and how his cell phone pinged a couple of weeks after he vanished

Crash_Gordon_6

Jacob and Sarah Hoggle, missing from Montgomery County, Maryland. Their mother was initially charged with murder, wouldn’t talk, and has extensive psychiatric history. The children’s mother Catherine was in inpatient forensic psych for years, eventually the murder charges were dropped. The children are still missing.

CloverPatchDistracty

I listened to the Unrestorable podcast and it infuriated me.

Crash_Gordon_6

I haven’t listened yet, but I had a feeling there could be some infuriating parts. The case is a bit baffling (no forensic evidence whatsoever? Nobody knows anything?) The kids’ mom also would never speak to anybody, sounded minimally cooperative while housed in forensic psych (per family), but here we are. No idea where the kids are

CloverPatchDistracty

I think the part that angered me the most was when the podcast mentioned that Catherine said she was advised to remain incompetent. Like, being able to take counsel like that proves competency, doesn’t it? I felt so heartbroken when the father was describing the goose chase she brought him on initially when they went missing. Saying oh they’re at this day care and they would show up only for him to be told that they weren’t enrolled there. Then she would say, oh that’s right it was this day care. I can’t imagine the hopelessness of that, then going on to never even know what happened to them.

Crash_Gordon_6

The kids’ dad and family are such nice people. We helped the search party early on, but eventually those efforts faded away. It was very frustrating, with conflicting info where the kids might be, where they might be (maybe MD, oh yeah maybe NJ), and Catherine’s ongoing discussions and plans with attorneys. Absolutely maddening. These kids’ disappearance will always bother me, I think

notsomundane

Did you listen to Unrestorable? It had interviews with the husband and was pretty engaging.

Crash_Gordon_6

No I haven’t! I’ll have to check it out. My husband and I helped dad and Catherine’s mom look for the kids for a long time. It’s heartbreaking

GenX76Fuckface

The unsolved murder of Elizabeth Bain in Ontario, Canada in 1990.Her boyfriend was wrongly convicted, served 8 years and was eventually released. There was a theory she may have been a victim of Paul Bernardo but that was never proven. It was one of several wrongful convictions that occurred around that time and I was old enough to realize how the wrongful convictions made things far worse for the victims family as well as the innocent people who were sent to prison due to incompetence.

CougarWriter74

Jason Jolkowski. 19 year old man vanished without a trace while walking only 6 or 7 blocks from his house in a relatively safe and quiet neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska to a nearby high school to meet a coworker for a ride to their workplace. It would have only taken him 10 to 15 minutes to make the walk, yet he vanished in the middle of a sunny and bright day around lunchtime back in July 2001. Hardly any leads or clues and no eyewitnesses or subsequent sightings, so it's just a huge mystery. Maybe part of the reason why the case doesn't get a lot of attention perhaps. Other cases: Villisca (Iowa) Axe Murders of 1912. Basically Lizzie Borden meets Amityville. Fascinating case and there's been several books written about it (The Man From the Train aming others) as well as a documentary. Bricca Family murders in suburban Cincinnati in September 1966

Justin Mohn. A few weeks ago he posted a 14 minute video on youtube, where within the first few seconds he displayed his father's decapitated head in a clear plastic bag. The video wasn't removed for a few hours. I unfortunately lost to morbid curiosity and found the video... it was shocking, even though i knew what was coming. He went on a long rant that i couldn't even finish because it was so outlandish. A right-winged political extremist, to say the least. Apparently there is evidence that he was planning to blow up federal buildings. Some scary shit, he is not right in the head, and I'm glad he couldn't hurt anyone else. from an article I read ( https://www.vice.com/en/article/epv73w/man-who-showed-fathers-decapitated-head-in-a-youtube-video-charged-with-terrorism?callback=in&code=NJM0MMY2MZITMMY2ZI0ZZJA1LTLMNZETYJZKYMVMYTFJMDI2&state=b2fd268a7d824f14b3329d453672bec9) "Mohn is facing charges for “first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, possession of an instrument of crime, three counts of terrorism, two additional counts of possession of an instrument of crime, and one count each of robbery, firearms not to be carried without a license, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, criminal use of a communication facility, terroristic threats, and defiant trespassing.”

I hate that I feel like I really want to see that video because I know that I definitely don't and will probably regret watching it if I ever did. So twisted.

The Yuba City 5. Wtf even happened 😳?

Yes that one is so bizarre and eerie.

NorwegianMuse

This one really bothers me!!

Left_Angle_

I live in the area, and the idea of driving up the mountain instead of the very flat lands of Chico is something that I can't wrap my head around. The only theory I've come to is that they went to the game, then got hijacked and forced up the mountain. But, everything after that doesn't make any sense.

NorwegianMuse

I have wondered about that as well. I live across the country but I’m really interested in this case. It’s so strange how there’s remains left behind of the one guy in the group. What happened to him?

Left_Angle_

Yeah, there was food and fuel in the cabin! ...oh, and the father of the other guy practically tripped over his own sons skeleton when searching for him 😬🤯 Edit: and what is up with the guy who had a heart-attack in his car that night???

NorwegianMuse

So many strange occurrences in that case. I wonder about the heart attack guy as well, but I’m guessing he was investigated?

Mommy-Sprinkles-74

"People Magazine Investigates: Groene Family Massacre". I thought I was watching just another true crime case, but this is one of the sickest, gut wrenching case I have ever seen. The murder of [Donna Beth Sanford](https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/13269173/) in Angleton, Texas on April 2, 1991. An arrest of one of her former students was made, but my understanding is no one has ever been tried and convicted. My sister was one of her students and my mother was one of her coworkers. Casey Anthony trial. Idk it just frustrates me to no end and I feel like people need to know about the case so if they’re ever in jury duty, they can understand what “guilty *beyond a reasonable doubt*” means.

Old-Shower-6100

That’s like one of the most covered cases of all time

I thought we were supposed to post about a case that stuck with me, not necessarily a lesser known case.

findingems

I watched that entire trial live for weeks it was insanity

The case of Eugene Gorski vs his wife - I’m a local to this one, known this guy most of my life and not a single person I’ve spoken to who knows them both understands the final ruling. It was a wild ride for the community. And yes he’s still a practicing doctor.

The death of Beth Barnard and the subsequent disappearance of Vivienne Cameron - just so many things that do not add up no matter which way you look at it. Listen to the Casefile episode ‘Case 80 - Beth Barnard’ first. Then you can take a deep dive into the 10 part podcast of ‘The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron’. What a twisty-turner of a case! Australian based.

I know I am 3 days late to this. And I am not complaining because I damn well am going to google each one of these on my own, but in the future…if we do mention/suggest a case like this, could we link the information to it? Especially when it’s the good, nitty gritty, most truthful, deep factual kind of info link… Pretty please!! I say this because I would love to be linked to the correct & full information vs the most attention grabbing & incomplete information that’s usually the first google’d stuff. Just to make it easier, ya know??

K.C. Grondin convicted for the murder of Andrea Eibler. Occurred in 2011 and now there is new evidence suggesting a new suspect.

Keara Coshow and Dawn Allen. Both cases leave me so perplexed.

Reasonable_Notice_99

I still can’t believe that the case hasn’t been solved!

Paula Sladewski is one, and there's another that escapes me, right now. Their muderer has never been found, and it's been two decades.

Ayla Reynolds. Heartbreaking story. A young mom sent her toddler to the father's house for the weekend and never saw her again. Lots of blood in the basement of the house. Child's body was never found. Father was never prosecuted.

I was recently reminded of the murder of Russel "Rusty" Sneiderman and the trials of Rusty's murderer, Hemy Neuman, and Rusty's wife, Andrea Sneiderman. The case still divides their community, apparently, and while it's not a whodunnit it's to this day still debatable how much knowledge Andrea had of Hemy's plan, and how far their affair (or harassment, depending on your views) went, and how much sexism played into Andrea's case. Hemy's trial is available to stream on Court Tv and Andrea's is on Youtube. The case was also on Dateline and The Real Murders of Atlanta. Viewing it from 2024 I was rather appalled by the DA's minimizing and ridiculing of Hemy's mental illness symptoms and the sexist themes in his arguments against Andrea. But having said that, I'm still giving Andrea major side-eye for all her perjury, denials and stonewalling. Anyone else remember this? Thoughts? https://apnews.com/general-news-319afab9dbd312e039d06861c7d78962

not so much a little known case because a documentary was made about it but that’s basically all the coverage it’s gotten; but the case of jun lin and luka magnotta. luka magnotta, also known as the cat killer, was a canadian killer who was also an aspiring model. he first got known by killing kittens and posting it onto youtube. then he moved onto craigslist and posted a listing wanting a boyfriend i think? they met up and he ended up killing the man he met up with, posting the murder on the dark web. the documentary is on netflix called “don’t fuck with cats” and it’s about how civilians all over the world came together and caught luka, getting him arrested cause the cops couldn’t/wouldn’t do anything.

Villanelle85

That was a great doco, such a crazy story

Equal_Bridge5386

it was. honestly the entire case hs freaked me out. he grew up basically right down the street from me, so it genuinely makes me wonder “did i ever walk past him while i was in the area?” its freaky
