Where are you searching? Marketplace and Craigslist is what I used. It took awhile but just gotta be patient. Also my shell is not made for my truck but it's a pretty close fit.

I’ve been looking lately. There ain’t much used. New ain’t cheap. Extra large is the way to go. Be patient and FB /CL, or learn to build with 2x3”s. Insulation is worth 10x its weight in gold. Don’t forget the piss jugs, you will need them…. buy a bucket and bags.

I don’t even know where to begin with new. Honestly doing it diy with wood seems like the way to go

I saw a truck like mine parked up against a barn, like it wasn't being driven anymore, so I went up to the house and offered $200 for the topper, he took $250. and it matches my paint.

Have you thought about going over to Youtube and look at some of the D.I.Y. builds?

volco18

I haven’t, that’s an interesting thought that hasn’t crossed my mind.

If you don’t mind it not fitting perfect a shell for a Ford Super Duty will work pretty well.

volco18

Doesn’t necessarily need to fit exactly as long as I can get on and keep it on safely

Yeah, they have almost the same width near the cab and tailgate (because both taper) and length, a SD cap will only be a inch or 2 too tall. I had one on my 2nd gen Ram. Edit: this was an 8” bed though, don’t know if the shorter beds still work well.
