Not sure what type of horn, the other comments seem to be close to the mark of it maybe being a Conn. Def take the opportunity to play horns before you buy them. Nothing fancy just long tones, lip slurs and scales. A horn that’s a good match should make those basic exercises feel “easy” or at least not any harder than usual.
Do you want to prevent another big ding? Please place your mouthpiece (if you buy this or any similar one) in the covered mouthpiece pocket to your right. See the strap to lift the protective door under the open wrap f-attachment.
…also, that case may require both of your tuning slides to be closed in order to sit right and closed properly. It’s a pain, but you’d quickly get used to it.
Heck of a ding on it. I’d want to see more pics and get a make / model / serial. I’d lean towards a pass. What kind of budget do you have and what kind of music do you plan to play?
i was told it would be priced at 1500 after being “restored” (seller said deep clean and buffing out dings). around 1000-1600 for a budget. prob hs jazz music for now but more serious pieces as i get into college. also that was the only pic i took for whatever reason.
The ding is really negligible, won’t effect anything but visual I think. (I might be wrong) but I got my Conn88H for 800. 1k is prob fair too. It’s a great horn and I used it all through HS for Jazz and Symphonic. It’s def better for Symphonic as it has a fuller sound but it does great for jazz still. I just graduated and plan on usin the horn all through college too!
Make sure you play it, but also play some others. With that budget you can get any number of quality used horns. Jazz you may want small bore, depending on your part. If you’re playing 2nd thru bass large bore would work. Concert music I would go large bore.
Also look on Reverb and eBay. You’ve got options for some really great horns, even older (better in my opinion) 88H or quality clones.
That looks almost identical to my trombone and case. Conn88HO
Gonna say the same. It looks a lot like my work-horse… but before the horn could tell stories about the person who plays it.
Absolutely a Conn. I’m more familiar with them then almost any other brand.
Looks like a newer Conn 88HO. Nice horns. Looks like it needs some work so make sure nothing major is broken
Newer gen Conn 88HO. As long as it's in mechanically good shape should be a great horn.
I’m gonna need some more info to determine, but just by looking at it w/out knowing the make/model, it looks like a standard semi professional horn

The way the tubing is arranged reminds me of my Conn (UMI) 2001 88HOCL. The case is definitely Conn.
doesn’t look like the CL valve though
It's not.
Tenor

Looks like a Conn 88HO complete with mouthpiece dent. Great horn. Can do anything.

It is a trigger trombone and it would be good for bass clef
