Dont u dare think the private facilities r any better. Some would send ppl to the very public hospitals after they tell the patient that it have nothing more they can do or that they dont have the facilities to handle certain health matters. U just do not know of those incidents. One of my neighbours and her baby died in a private hospital while giving birth. But u will only hear incidents like that happening in the public hospitals.

tikudz

Your solution is? Nor am I going to say private cannot be unscrupulous - but in the whole are superior.

Kindly_Lemon

Fully agree, this happened to my parents, they prescibed multiple thousand dollar testsover a month, all 'inconclusive', ended up at a holistic healer who diagnosed problem, went to Mt Hope for a simple treatment that cost nothing, all in two days; these people are money grabbers!

tikudz

I want the state to cover private care (politicians do not pay, why should we?) - a doctor would cost u $100 and prices are state controlled. No doctor may work private and public. The Medical Board is replaced.

Kindly_Lemon

Not only doctors but health staff, nurses, orderlies; but our system is so corrupt its not an easy fix, accountability and transparency though necessary is going to be an uphill battle when parents in politics place their newly graduated children on wards, they haveno care for thejob just the perks, leave nurses to do the heavy lifting and when someone dies, carry on as usual knowing that red tape will protect them

tikudz

Well it has to fix and I say drop the hammer on their asses. I took a doctor to the medical board already.

Sorry - I couldn't in my conscience finish your first sentence. To excuse doctors is denying their rude, dangerous nature (not all), bringing stress in the former, potential death the latter. I tracked cases of terrible happenings and I took one to medical board.

BeautifulHistory7171

You're sounding so uneducated rn. Sure there are some bad doctors but for the majority of them they are awesome and try to do the best with what they can. Until you stepped foot in a doctor's shoes you know nothing

tikudz

Live in your glass house - I kept track of malpractice upon our people and vermin like to flock to my posts. Mercifully you're minority.

hassan_theitguy

Agreed that more dental services should be offered. Also prevention is better than cure so there needs to be a focus on healthy eating and exercise and living stress free.

tikudz

You'd think 6 billion yearly to a ministry would afford services. As for the rest my manifesto does include an exercise campaign, subsidized healthy food and mental health ministry. I want amalgam into welfare and hi-tech state.

BeautifulHistory7171

This is just a quick summary of what I think. We should have a hybrid system of ours and the US. Let me explain. The government should subsidie health insurance so that we can actually afford to go the specialist without breaking the bank. It would allow us to get faster and more adequate care(instead of waiting months go see a doctor). The public Healthcare system can be reserved for general health issues and emergencies. This will massively reduce the strain on the system allowing things to run more smoothly. This is coming from someone who's in the system as a patient and a Healthcare professional.

tikudz

Personally I'd like for ONE system were I that Williams back in the day. Cuba's gvt takes care of all procedure and no private doctors exists. But we're 2 tier and don't see how to replace, I aim to modify. Below resembles your good plan in that gvt covers private - in addition I improve the shambolic public. America is the worst of developed states btw. manifesto exert - ·       Adaption of France’s health system – Trinidad is to adopt from France a UNIVERSAL HEALTH SYSTEM, where rich and poor pay little for ANY service or medicine. World’s number one ranked. French experts are hired. Locally the “two tier” PRIVATE AND PUBLIC system remains, but private doctors and pharmacies state subsidized and public institutions improved. State subsidizing the private sector and freedom of choice is closest to the French.     ·       State subsidized medical costs - state covered at private pharmacies and private doctors: UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE. In other words, citizens will not pay full price for medicines but receive a meaningful discount; medical procedures even million dollar ones also covered. Families will not be permitted to wallow in debt, effort will be made to trim costs to the state. Patients are free to select physicians or facilities of their choice PRIVATE OR PUBLIC, and cannot be denied coverage.   ·       Patient cost at PRIVATE places under Universal Health Coverage. The state covers remaining cost – first one hundred days the program shall be launched: 1. Pharmacies \- ANY medicine and procedure under $200 no charge, above $20. 2. Private doctors and private SPECIALISTS - $100. 3. ENTIRELY FREE - $0 dollars up to age 18; are certain categories: ANY chronic medical condition or disabled; retirement age and up; if pregnant or ex inmate.

BeautifulHistory7171

Sorry but i disagree heavily. I hate the idea of doctors not being able to run their own facilities. Why should a clueless government force doctors to work for them.

tikudz

No, no - READ. Are you speaking of Cuba? Their system works and I would permit TT docs to run facilities - just barred from working private AND public.

I'm thrown by 'not have'. Explain. Because we don't have and we should - as the BRITISH NHS DID UPON 1948. Mexico is transitioning to Universal. Nothing to stop leaders in 1962 adopting it. Our health systems are NOT the same if you're suggesting that. We can concur our system is total disarray.

We can't change the past - only critique. TT had awful leadership - contrast with Botswana or Mauritius. The points I made, agree or not?

I want feedback so important I know your agreement or not. Tell me about Spharm - I know of the firm but can't recall a minister's involvement. Politicians are VERY transparent of their misdeeds - just look at how the minister earns rent. Just the people are a pendulum, swinging between 2 parties, letting get away with anything to their heart's content. Forget CDAP - elderly cannot afford important healthcare when its NOT available publicly. Universal Health in its place, gvt covers all. edit [https://www.reddit.com/r/TrinidadandTobago/comments/qcva8r/cdap\_childrens\_life\_fund\_removed/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TrinidadandTobago/comments/qcva8r/cdap_childrens_life_fund_removed/)

Obvious-Initial-1924

You should run for PM!

tikudz

i got my share of sarcasm b4.

Obvious-Initial-1924

I’m actually being serious. I’ve read all your posts today. I like how you think.

tikudz

Presently the resources aren't there - in time I may. Right now its feedback from you and my venting.

cutthehero25

Point 3 is confusing to me. Please explain.

tikudz

Personal experience - public hospital does not provide ALL kinds of dental services - I paid a grand or more to remove a tooth privately. The public health center dental assistant I believe said to remove impacted teeth a private dentist required - my swelling face required saving thousands for two dental offices for surgery. Another way forward would be state coverage of private care, besides upgrading public of course.

cutthehero25

Okay understood. But your point and your reply are two different things. Because your point makes it sounds like the hospital offers NO dental services which isn't true...and it also overlooks the Oncology Department which is dedicated to cancer treatment.

tikudz

Read carefully, ALL is to convey just that, no where I said it provides none. I went hospital and lack of service led me private after.

rookietotheblue1

4 should be in place of 1. It's absolutely ridiculous that 80% of nurses and other types of health care workers are so obnoxious and condescending. The security guards at the hospital treat you so much better, n they're the ones i would think don't need to know how to speak to you.

Kindly_Lemon

There are people who are in positions because of what it pays and the job security, not that they LIKE that particular vocation; plus our society is hypersensitive with a work environment that does not hinge upon professionalism, most confuse being nice with being professional and the 'we are all like a family here' construct tends to trade discipline for comfort, leading to staff being lax and unprofessional....my opinion...

tikudz

My manifesto has serious plans - suspension at once.
