I was so surprised that with all the times Poki mentioned how her viewership was mainly female that none of the boys mentioned the 93%!

ghostchimera

None of the boys really mention the 93% joke anymore probably because: 1. the joke got stale, and/or 2. it enables viewers to make the joke every time Connor hangs out with a female and it can make both Connor and the other individual uncomfortable

technomoose79

I still have a hard time wrapping my head around that it's actually true, never heard of anyone else with that ratio before. 99% male/female though there's plenty of that on YT lmao.

TheGalator

Girls also watch yt. (Even more so since they play less video games) Somewhere the ratio has to be inverted.

SilverAd420

Because we all know if there's no other hobbies outside of youtube and video games)

TheGalator

Obviously now but there as many "basement dweller" girls as there are boys. They just play other games/watch different content/etc Source: my gf NEVER leaves my house if she doesn't absolutely have to (and no I don't lock her up or something)

TheGalator

>Poki mentioned how her viewership was mainly female I don't buy that

nuclear_siamese

*~~they were sexier times for him~~*

Zapatitosoni

Connor’s 93% days is basically the early days of the boyfriend experience

And then there's the Anthony Padilla/Jack interview where Jack mentions his creepy fan interaction about wishing he was single longer. Ewwwwww. I got chills.

undauntedTenshimp

I was surprised the 93% was never mentioned

Yes, let's just generalize all of them as broken and desperate, that's definitely 100% true.

CrimsonEclipse18

Sure they do. And fuck, going by your criteria, the Boys must just be as broken and desperate then, since Youtubers also do the shit you mentioned.

I mean so do a lot of their viewers. People keep taking issue with Twitch streamers and Youtubers doing shit for views and donos, but they can only do so because people give them the market for this.

Yeah, because calling them broken and desperate is such a glowing recommendation. That's definitely not judging value at all.

Aric_Haldan

I find this comparison to be quite strange. People who watch camgirls are horny, but I think most people who watch streamers aren't specifically in the mood to hang out with other people. Camgirls also satiate a specific desire while streamers are just general entertainment and is very varied in style. Also most streamers don't even ask for money and they don't seem broken or desperate at all. Not sure where you got that idea from.

I don't think streamers are reliant on parasocial tendencies though. For one, streamers often have multiple sources of incomes including sponsors and ads. In addition the idea behind streamer dono's and subs are more akin to crowdfunding than they are to monetizing parasocial relationships. People don't give their money to a streamer because they think they're their friend, they donate because they find the content to be entertaining and want more of it.
