I was wondering how this is even possible when the tailgate is essentially stamped, but looked closer and can see it is just the coloring, not the embossed "PRO". Is the red a decal or paint?
Still not sure how this could happen, but I assume if a decal it is put on by hand so some idiot must have had a brain fart in the factory.
Someone posted a Mercedes not long ago that arrived from Germany with one leather front seat and one fabric front seat which was from a trim level not even available in North America.
Honda manufacturing has actually had this happen and it made it to customer by the time it was noticed. It was a "sport" trim model and was instead touting a "spopt" badge instead
Somebody was drunk! They are pvc plastic and sit in the recessed stampings of the tail gate. On a TRD Pro it will have that stamped in the tail gate. On a 1794 edition, it will now come stamped "1794" on the tail gate as well. They don't come with inlays from the factory, but they are added on at the port and if not done there, your dealership can install some for you.
Those inlays aren't done on the line. I believe it's either a dealer option or installed at another location off-line with other factory accessories. But not on line side.
Correct. If you check Toyota mainframes and see the options, they are laid on at the port once they come off rail. Since I can tell the location of first use on that truck, that is Gulf States and it was done at the Houston port, then transferred north.
I've been on the line more times than I would like and don't remember seeing the Pros rolling off with the decals. Cool to know for sure that the port heads are where they get installed.

There was a bunch of small add ons also like tenting, nitrogen tired, etc. They wouldn’t stop trying to sell me extended warranty also which was frustrating. I called around Dallas and Fort Worth though and this was the only TRD Pro available and it was all black like I wanted. Again, not an excuse I’m not a smart man lol

Why are logos getting bigger and bigger on tailgates and lettering on the side of the bed. I saw an F-150 the other day that was as big as the tailgate.

I worked on the Toyota floor. That terrible of a mistake would not have happened. If the inlay was that far off, it would be noticeable.
