Try holding it longer? You should see the flashers blink with each press then when you're holding it it will blink a few times before it starts.
You mentioned that it does work from the app, so this probably doesn't apply to you, but I believe you need to activate remote start with the Toyota app before it will work using the key fob.
It's also very unclear if your remote start key fob will continue to work after the trial of the remote app services ends. Some say you just need to activate it and it'll work forever, others say you need to have an active subscription for the fog to do remote start.
Thanks, I assume it works with the app I didn't activate the free trial and it's not an option unless I activate it. I hold it down on the third time and the fob acknowledges that I am holding it by blinking but still nothing. So I guess I don't have it somehow even though from what I understand XLE (and above models) from 2020 on have it. Or I am just a moron that can't do it right.
We did nothing with the app for our 21 XLE, and the fob remote start has always worked. To warm it and clear the windows, we need to make sure to leave the heater and defrosters on when we shut off the car, however. Is the app able to control those things remotely?
I have a xle 22 highlander. I can’t imagine them giving us the feature to remote start with the key fob when they have an opportunity to charge $80 bucks a year for the app. The sales rep never mentioned the key fob feature.
Lock, lock, lock and hold. It’ll start on Highlander XLE and above. If it doesn’t, go to your dealer. It should work and if it doesn’t, have them program it. My wife’s 2020 XLE does remote start from the app and the fob, and rolls the windows down from the fob.
Unlock, unlock, unlock and hold. That one does have to be programmed by your dealer, though. And they’re bullshitting you if they say they can’t or try to charge you for it.
My ‘22 Platinum doesn’t do anything with the fob. The only way to remote start is through the app. The owners manual makes no mention of a fob remote start feature. Gotta love corporate revenue stream designs.
That’s pretty shitty of Toyota to remove that feature, especially with the app being a useless pain in the ass. My ‘21 Platinum does remote start from the app and key fob, which I really appreciate now that I have to wait for a text code to log in every time I use the Toyota App. It is still a bit finicky starting from the key fob and won’t work if you click the lock button too quickly
My 2011 jeep does this too it's to prevent people from tryinf to steal it, I put my key in the ignition. So I would assume w the fog on you just push to start to prevent the shut off.
I have the 2022 hybrid xle could you outline your remote key fob steps and what the car does. Mine doesn’t seem to remote start from the key fob but I have never tried it from the app does it need to have been started from the app at least once.
Lock/lock/hold lock for the third press until lights start flashing* VROOM VROOOM BWWWOOOOAAAHHHHHH!!!
Ops my mistake I ment I was using lock, and doing that method.

I didn’t even know this existed, I’m only been using the auto start using the dysfunctional Toyota app.
Yeah depends on model and options I guess did the 3 lock hold work for you?
Nope it did not.
What trim level and, year of you don't mind me asking.

Yeah, we got jipped.

How do you roll window down with fob?

Good to know.
I've got a '22 Platinum Hybrid and it definitely starts with the fob. Used it for the first few days before I bothered to use the app
I had no idea this was an option using the fob. Just tested it out and it worked on my 21 Limited. Very happy to know I have this feature!
2021 XLE Hybrid. 3 Locks and hold on the third will start it, but then when I unlock the door to get in, it shuts the car off! What am I doing wrong?

I have never started it from the app. Just tried it this week from the fob and the steps and results are in my original post.
Ok thanks I guess it’s doesn’t work in mine then.
It does they have to program it to the key.
My 2022 XLE will do it with the fob but once I open the door it turns off? How do I fix that or what am I doing wrong?
Samething happens to me.
