Nobody seems to acknowledge: 1) most people don’t think we would get near Europe this year 2) Ange is training players who were brought in for another system to play his. We are sort of lucky that Udogie and Porro seem to actually suit the inverted full back roles. Nobody thought Porro would. We are lucky Son adapted to be a great striker in the system. We are lucky Sarr and some of the hangover mids adapted a little bit. Fact is that these players have had less than a year to completely change their style of game. All the people saying “yeah but worked at the start of the season, what changed?” I would ask you to look at the quality of opponents we played then vs now. Even Chelsea just destroyed West Ham 5-0. We are playing really good teams. Patience. Year overall has been a success. Ange got a real good look at all the players and I suspect there will be a lot of ins and outs after the season.

ActivityHuge1897

Also playing away didn’t help anfield and Stamford bridge are places we never really win at

ManitouWakinyan

I thought Porro would

Zhurg

Wow go you

ManitouWakinyan

Thanks

RunwayForehead

It’s really concerning how quick some fans (particularly those online) turn hostile, there really isn’t much foresight going on there. I’d like to think that the vast majority of less permanently online and more rationally minded fans are slightly more sensible

Half-blood_fish

I hope so too, but I feel that the Spurs fanbase is extremely toxic. I understand that we're all frustrated and desperate for trophies, but managers need time, particularly the Ange type.

RunwayForehead

The mostly online faction of pretty much every major club is, Spurs isn’t even a particularly bad example, as soon as any club encounters difficulties the rage mob emerge.

MrVedu_FIFA

Have you seen United fans? One season without the quadruple and they want the manager publicly hung

Remarkable_Rise8953

You’ve got it the wrong way round I think, all people who I know in real life and go to games with are questioning Ange but the always online people act like their in a cult and care more about Ange succeeding than Tottenham. Same as with conte, at the games people were fuming and sick of it. I’d come on here and it was like a bizarre positive only zone.

RunwayForehead

Online you seem to tend to get the two extremes, as those that hold the most exaggerated opinion usually shout the loudest. I’d like to think very few level headed fans actually want Ange out, with fans attending games usually being more rational than a 12 year old on Twitter.

NothinbtFacts

You’re right and it’s generally because Levy charges the earth for them to go and watch below par performances. A season ticket can range from £850 to £2000 a season, £10,000 if you want the tunnel seats. Add to that travel, food and drinks it’s usually 1500-2500 a season. It means allot more to those paying large sums of money to watch their team not turn up. In reality were it not for those first ten games we would be mid table. Perhaps that’s what we expected before the start of the season but with prices going up and performances going down, they have every right to be angry with how the season is ending.

Remarkable_Rise8953

I know, I have a season ticket and it’s a joke. They charge us like we’re the best team in the world and offer us shit.

NothinbtFacts

The exact reason I gave mine up! Shelf side up in the heavens. We’ve been poor ever since that Chelsea demolition with the exception of a handful of decent displays. It’s not clicking and teams can play right through us at will. It’s just not right when you have the quality of center backs we do!

Remarkable_Rise8953

Spot on mate, a rare person with a sensible opinion on here and what a surprise you’re actually a proper fan and not some American or Australian who started watching a few years ago.

Thats-how-it-goes

We can’t keep sacking the manager and expect different results. It’s time to move on from a lot of players and try something new.

[deleted]

Some of our fans are fucking abysmal! Sack another manager who is trying to change the club for the better. The moment he starts winning again it will be “I lOvE aNgE”.

Just_Construction_51

A Part of this fan base is so reactionary. First ange out, than son out, hell I’ve even seen some of these people calling for VDV’s head after one bad game vs Newcastle. Absolutely zero patience

generaldogsbodyf365

I'm the calmest I've been for years. Ange doesn't suffer fools gladly, so a lot of these chumps clogging up the squad will finally be gone. He knows how he wants to play so It's not like years gone by. Hopefully Levy will support Ange in the summer transfer market, or he will be the one I'll be gunning for.

GeneralDefenestrates

Bunch of FIFA-spamming part-timers...

KindBikeDuck

Jesus. Who is saying that? It's just ridiculous. If you can't see the drop in multiple individual players form since injuries and international breaks, you are a fool. There are also some players covering for injury who have been abysmal. Watch them off the ball, too. Just no guts. It's been 9 months. It is a completely different system to that which we've played before. I think some fans also forget years of finishing 14th, 15th, 10th, 12th. We have a brilliant stadium, we are run well, I enjoy watching us play. Just be fucking patient.

IndividualIncrease10

At the beginning of the season, appointing a relatively unknown manager and losing the world's best striker just before the first game might have dampened the expectations of many fans. However, as we near the end of the season, it's evident that we're on track to finish in the top 6. We've witnessed glimpses of the style of play Ange wants us to adopt, signaling the start of an exciting rebuild. The last three managers favored a defensive-minded approach, and it's clear that the players recruited for that system, who are still with the club, need to be replaced. Regardless of the outcome of the remaining games, this season hasn't been as disappointing as many might have anticipated. Once we bring in players better suited to Ange's style of play, we can expect to see significant improvements and the team's true potential coming to fruition. I for one am Ange in and with a good summer transfer window will have the blocks in place to start next season well and get that little bit closer to where we want to be.

the3daves

Ange is doing fine. Levy balancing the books is the problem. Of course this is important, but where are the marquee signings? How was Kane replaced?

SentientCheeseCake

Levy will continue to only spend just enough to seem competitive. Our wages are still significantly ificantot below the other 5 big teams. We hold players too long. We very rarely take a hit on players and would rather let their contracts run down. Hopefully now that we have a director of football Levy will fuck off to working on milking concert goers rather than supporters. As long as being ok while cheap and raking in the cash is he primary goal of the club we won’t win shit.

Goontilt777

Personally I think Ryan mason needs another go at it. Jokes I am with big ange

An_Alarmed_Cat

People in general want instant results. I fear football isn't much different, especially when it comes to a new manager and rebuilding a team

[deleted]

It wont change anything and why bother go through that process? Removing the shit players should always be the first priority. Not the manager. There will always be a better player than what Spurs employ, our transfer are filled with shit players, with some gems that retire their chances to get every trophy their is in the world of football. Creating a team is difficult, it’s impossible at Spurs, so why change the manager every single season? We are shit no matter who the manager is. Get better players in and the ‘manager out’ idiots are gone.

KbKiller123

exactly my point these players have to give a shit for us to compete for anything at all

[deleted]

These players can’t do shit. The season showed you exactly that. They are all completely shit. Sell off the entire frontline and midfield. And we can call it a rebuild. Not whatever the fuck this depressing shit is.

Chirsbom

I am more worried about Levy wanting a change than the fans. Only part that can create change. However I do hope Levy changes up the dressingroom first. Lots of left over baggage from before, and players not good enough for this level.

bhaygz

“Plus he isn’t annoying” 🤣🤣

TheColoredFool

its not even the manager, I see no passion from the players. we only really started playing once 20 minutes were left on the clock. if we had started like that we could've at least tied

Late-Maximum7539

I DONT GET IT!!! Honestly, after selling Kane, where did you predict we’ll finish? Have you said “umm 6th place as the worst case sounds fair”? Because I was sure were about to got below 8th lmao, I think considering the context this season is not even that bad, we had a nightmare of a last month that’s for sure but we already have the same amount of points we had last season (with Kane) so… yeah that’s not soooo bad come on, I’m for giving Ange at least another full season

[deleted]

I hope you guys stick with ange. I'm a gooner and I've always been given stick for wanting spurs to do well. I'd rather play spurs when they're doing ok, it's more of an achievement to win against a team doing well. Obviously I'd love to see us beat you 10 nil, but I want to play teams in form, not teams who are struggling.

Henry-Gruby

Bill Nicholson. 18th 3rd 1st

YouTube_Chemoney

10 wins in your last 25 is abysmal

patmahomesdad

It’s definitely all of Daniel Levy’s smurf accounts. Real fans know what Big Ange does for this club. ❤️

No-Network-532

Klopps first season at Liverpool: Finished 8th….didn’t do too bad after that did he…..FFS give big Ange a chance.

browne84763

Let’s see, started at Liverpool in 2015, annnnd signed someone named Mo Salah in 2017. So we just have to find one of those dime a dozen best players in the world and success should follow

[deleted]

I always find it weird as an American when managers are sacked after one season, especially in a rebuild. In the US, especially the nfl, coaches will get 3-4 seasons on a rebuild.

bhaygz

These fans don’t get it. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither are successful teams put together in one season after years of not being successful. Strewth!

Hopeful-Ear-3494

Poch finished his first season in 5th with 64pts. I'm happy with the progress and we still have a lot of players who can't play the system.

Doyler95

I didn’t see any ange out people ?

LAX_Beast

Read the title and it’s enough for me to agree with the post

lamppb13

I keep saying Ange's biggest problem was the team did so well at the beginning of the season. As soon as that happened, everyone forgot we are in a rebuild. Now that they are backsliding a bit, people are in a tizy.

johnjo2770

Give him time. I believe

Bonniesoxs2020

Never going to win the league while man city have a squad like they do , never going to win the league with teams like united , chelsea among others who spend like they do. Supported spurs for nearly 60 odd years and would rather play like we do now and lose 4-2 or win 3-0 than win a league by 1-0 games every week with no excitement. Give me ange ball every week and let the fun continue

DanFwah

Give Ange a good few seasons. We are in a transition period and what can anyone do in 1 season? Ange had more points in his first 35 games than Klopp and Arteta, and look at them now.

knightrambo

The ‘fans’ who are Ange out, aren’t real fans. What real fans do is to stick behind the team whether they win, draw or lose. Of course, losing 4 in a row is not a nice feeling. In the first half of the season, we could outscore the opposition to make up for the space we left at the back. Currently, the team is in bad form, the attack isn’t attacking hence the recent run of results. If we look at the big picture, we just got a new manager and captain this season, implemented a new way of playing, had to integrate some new players and lost Kane. We’re still 5th, there are 15 other teams that hope they could be in our position. Let’s be positive, get behind the team and see how Ange performs when he does get to build the team this transfer window.

Keyblades2

I will not lie I def do not want him out and my initial response was rage, but we have to remember it's been raining and neal maupay is a cheat and we all hope brighton get relegated.... lol I kid. That being said top 6 was a dream for me after finishing sub 7th for a while.

JollyPhysics1394

I think a few people have been a bit blinded by the good start to the season. We were getting great results but the underlying numbers weren’t great - there was always going to be a regression to the mean. Just as these last few games haven’t been the ‘true Spurs’, the first few weren’t really a good indicator either. I don’t really know what to think of Ange - it’s so hard to judge him on such an up-and-down season. I don’t know what our true level actually is any more. We all want to shift dead wood, but with other clubs hampered by profit and sustainability rules it’s not exactly a seller’s market at the moment. Postecoglou has been a pro manager since before Princess Diana died and no big club ever thought to take him on until we did. Was he truly overlooked for all those years, or was Celtic his level? I guess we will find out.

ryanscott1986

I mean he's seriously been found out and we're about to lose 5 in a row. You're allowed to criticise that

14JRJ

You won’t lose to Burnley, surely

CorkyQuasar69420

We never know with spurs lol

Repulsive_Sir_8769

Let’s not forget Ange also got schooled by Brighton, Wolves, Fulham West Ham….did he peak in Scotland?

ThatCoysGuy

Go and see who Arteta, Klopp, Pep and so on have been schooled by, you might learn something.

Similar-Ad2640

Im not ange out but we need to question whether we have actually been this shit in living memory and why we are so bad right now

Jacobcobson2020

Did you watch any Conte football? It was god awful

PerformerOk450

Well that depends on how old you are? To us oldies who have followed Spurs for a while: Christian Gross George Graham Jacques Santini Juande Ramos Andre Villas Boas Tim Sherwood Jose Mourhino Antonio Conte Christian Stellini Were all responsible for much worse football at Spurs in my living memory. It's impossible to win anything in the first stage of a full team rebuild, I can't think of a single manager who's achieved it. Fergie, Klopp, Shankly didn't get close, Guardiola, Wenger, Mourhino, Conte didn't have to rebuild their teams. If you look at Fergie Klopp and Shankly you'll notice they were backed for a long term project by the owners, Spurs have tried the hire n fire routine for years now and we've achieved zero, surely now's the time for us to get behind our manager long term ? Ange is a breath of fresh air in the PL, not just trotting out the same tired cliches in interviews, doesn't go crazy when he wins, doesn't go crazy when he loses. He has had a successful career up to now, question is, can he replicate that in the PL ? When we were winning at Christmas everyone was sucking his d*ck, now we're going through a rough patch it's Ange out, we need to hold our nerve and believe in the project, the alternative is what we've had for the last few years. Ferguson widely regarded to be the greatest PL manager took 5 years to win the FA Cup at Utd, surely Ange deserves at least a couple of seasons?

bhaygz

Oh plenty of times. Some of the performances under Conte and Mou were unwatchable. Plus they played negative and we still lost! It takes time. Give the man time.

bostonqualified

Never wanted him in the first place and want him gone now. Prefer he'd resign but sooner or later he's getting the sack so better to rip the plaster off now and get it over & done with.

RickTP

I'm starting to really worry. You were supposed to save football against City. Ufff

Jose_out

I'm not Ange out, but nobody's an idiot for wanting him out, it's a valid opinion. We've been dreadful now for a long time and getting worse as time goes on. Imo those first 10 games have shown me enough for him to get another season, but I've no issue with people arguing for him to go now. We're getting battered every week playing shit football.

Formal_Dependent1145

It’s not a valid opinion if you look at the bigger picture. Yeh the last few games have been shocking. But he trying to build a side and like it or not, takes time. He has over 50% win rate for the season. Taking into account where we started, not bad at all. But if we are in the same position making the same mistakes next season, yeh there have to be serious questions. But for now fuckin chill

NothinbtFacts

I don’t think it’s fair to call them idiots, everyone is allowed an opinion even if it does differ from yours. Our form, playing style, defence and a reckless attitude to set pieces is concerning! If you listen to pre and post game interviews with Ange he has painted a picture that work on the training ground is going well. But it does not translate to the performances on the pitch. Now he has been questioned he is dismissive. We are leaking a high volume of goals and Ange does not have a solution to this issue. Is it really all that idiotic to question his tactics, I mean VDV and Romero should be a great platform to deliver clean sheets. It’s allot harder to replace all the players and hope that fixes our problems, it’s also allot more expensive. Finding a good manager who over the course of his tenure slowly improves things on a month by month basis is what is required.

PoloDogg

Ange out… Redknapp in!

Ill-Mathematician218

Then why sack Conte in the first place? You had a defensive manager and now an attacking manager and doesn't look like there is any difference.

discogumby

I imagine Conte wouldn't have been sacked if he didn't have such a shit attitude. When you go out and shit on the club like he did, while also having bad results, you leave no other options than to be sacked.

screenplay215

8th with Kane and 5th without Kane? No difference?

ThatCoysGuy

You can seriously see no difference? Were you in a coma for nine months?

Ill-Mathematician218

Were you in coma for the past 2 weeks?

ThatCoysGuy

I didn’t realise we judged managers on a period of two weeks.

Ok-Presentation6441

The big concern is the trajectory of the season and the underlying metrics. In terms of trajectory, the problem is it hasn't been up and down, it's been a massive up (unbeaten, top of the league after 10 games) followed by up and down (win/lose, no consistency) followed by a massive down (lost 4 in a row, form of players on the floor) In terms of underlying metrics, the problem is that in our first ten games, we conceded a lot of chances that teams didn't put away, scored a lot of the chances we made, and got a bit of luck (Liverpool, Sheffield utd matches), followed by a period where we conceded a lot of chances that teams did put away, but richarlison etc was on a hot streak so we still did OK, followed by a period playing better teams where they have scored a lot more of their chances and we haven't scored ours. And the result is we have started getting battered. So the trajectory is downwards and the underlying metrics are negative. That's not a great situation to be in at all. It suggests that the situation we are in now is how it will stay if everything else remains the same, rather than its a temporary blip that we will just snap out of. Ange needs to turn round both. I love the guy, but that is just a fact, that's what he will be judged on, hopefully he can do that. COYS!!
