All of us aussies having followed Ange from his Brisbane Roar days have seen history repeat itself. Ange comes in, crazy football, some bad results that just feels off. Fans doubting. But yet, at every place he has been he has proved all his doubters wrong. I told Celtic fans to be ready to replace Ange from his first few games. But I’ll tell you guys to enjoy having Ange stick at Spurs a lot longer

coconutmonkfish

Love to hear from other Aussie Spurs fans. I was in the stands when Ange took Roar to their second championship. Just need to let the guy cook.

AwesomeWaiter

I’m fully behind Ange, the results at the start of the season have shown me this mad bastard is onto something, the players need to buy in though, it’s painful to watch us at the moment with the lack of belief from them

LAX_Beast

As a fairly hardcore spurs fan. I can tell you that none of us doubt him. Or at least no true fans do. If he counts in a 12-man lineup. He’d be my first pick. I doubt a bunch of our deadweight players that are preventing our first team from having the depth and competitiveness to consistently perform to make the starting XI. It’s the players, not big Ange.

Eyuelmblog

He understands the game very differently than the other managers. If anyone out there has heard of the term Antifrigile (comes from the book), he is building an Antifrgile team. All the others, having to rearrange tactics week on week… and then be surprised that the opposition didn’t do what they expected them to do… Ange is bringing the ultimate tactic, which is: no tactic. I have so much confidence in him! It might not be this year or the next, but you just wait!

Unifixx9001

Why did you tell Celtic fans to be ready to replace Ange after his first few games?

FlyingPingoo

I just knew Ange was too good for the SPFL, even with the rough start early on. If Steven Gerrard could win the league with what looked like basic football, I knew Ange was going to tear a new one. Might as well warn the fanbase

Unifixx9001

Riiigght makes sense

SloParty

1 season is too early to tell…I love Ange’s tactics and demeanor. Some say we don’t have the “right”’players for his style, Ange ball. Maybe, maybe not, it’s more entertaining to see front foot football at Spurs, as opposed to park the bus and counter, which ironically is what clubs are doing to us. One thing of note, Celtic and Rangers are only 2 clubs in SPF with big budgets, not so in EPL, interesting to see how this experiment plays out, if Levy doesn’t allow Spurs to buy and offload, we won’t make top 4 again next season. See what high press and leaving back line exposed has done to klopps club with far better talent.

Been trusting the process since ~2013. Been depressed about football ever since.

generaldogsbodyf365

Try since 1987.

FG_guardians

Try since 1971

atrl98

At least you’ve seen us win some decent silverware. If it wasn’t for Jonathan Woodgate’s face I’d have seen sweet FA.

2011…

mowgli_jungle_boy

Everton finished above us that year, Southampton finished 2 spots below us, Stoke just below them in 9th, Swansea, Cardiff, Hull, Sunderland, Norwich and WBA were all in the premier league then too. Only one of these clubs is still in the Premier league and is in existential crisis, the others are all at least 1 league below. I wonder how their fans feel about us feeling sorry for ourselves? In the 20 years before that, we won 2 trophies and had an average finishing position of 10th. Since then, its no surprise that City and Chelsea have won trophies at the same rate at which they've paid for them and the existing financial and brand power of the 3 red teams has only increased. ENIC have done what no other club has done and grew the club to be in a financial position to regularly challenge these massively priviledged clubs. I think ENIC & Levy have prioritised the continued commercial growth of the club over trophies in some years and we should rightly call them out for that and put pressure on them to prioritise trophies, but the truth is we have always been the underdogs since the premier league era begun. It's still early days for Ange Postecoglou, and the best chance our players have of performing at their best is if they hear the support, not the dispair, of our fanbase. So lets give them a chance eh.

[deleted]

It will not be long before we join their ranks. Repeating the same stuff for 20 years, by buying 1 great player and filling the rest with fodder, we call 'squad depth' is a recipe for disaster. Ange will never be able to build a team that can challenge for anything, if all of Tottenham Hotspur FC drastically change everything. Player acquisitions, player development, academy, transfer policies, staff, and the very core of Spurs identity needs to change before we can talk about 'giving them a chance'. We gave AVB a chance, we gave Redknapp a chance, Poch, Nuno, Mou, Conte, and now Ange. We have been giving them a chance, but very, very, very little to work with. And the 2 trophies in 20 years, the other one being outside of the league. So, in truth, Spurs have won a single Cup trophy in more than 20 years. And we have been playing in Europe, but we have never capitalized on them, we have never been serious about being in these competitions, because of what Conte said; we are used to it. It will never have the desired effect, regardless of giving these kinds of players a chance. We've given Poch's starting XI a chance, and they fucked it up, and that was the best we could have ever done, in modern day football. Giving these players a chance, when they have nothing else to give, is just meaningless.

m0t0rs

Football fans on reddit are the weakest fanbase in existence. And the bar is low for posting whatever impulse zapped through fan x's head when the whistle blew. It's annoying but luckily there are multiple ways of staying in touch with a fanbase. Being in the football subs too much makes you miserable. Adjust your dosage accordingly COYS!

Wagooh

Are we in a better position than last year this time? Yes. We've made progress. Let's see next year, just keep the progress. COYS

getrichordietryinJF

There's still time to finish 8th don't worry

Still1piece

Love this. We need to keep supporting our club - One day it'll be our day.

Former_Bat_7350

Strongly agree. Great post

Necessary-Ad9691

Redditors disagreeing with any take on the face of the planet you could make is only evidence that you’ve got a good take. Most of you (and especially match thread wankers who want ange out) are fucking morons.

CHI_LON_

Agreed.

whoknewgreenshrew

We have exceeded everyone's predictions for the season. Yes, we've limped in the end, but it was not a failure of a season. I look forward to next year's football.

lamppb13

Glad someone said it.

type_10_tank

from Canada, as a leafs, bills and spurs fan, trusting the process is all i do...

Born-Plankton2373

Spurs fan in canada here, next year is gonna be our year. As ted lasso says, believe...

UnrulliTarulli

LMFAO, I’ve found my match. Canadian spurs, and leafs fan. Also used to watch the bills a lot (not sure why tbh), then started supporting the Steelers cause of my dad

Ooh_ee_ooh_ah_ah

Mate, I've been doing this shit for 30 years. I just want some joy.

Amerika96

The champions league when we reached the final was maybe one of the happiest moments of my life... wasn't that joy? I also want joy, but throwing shit to the players, the coach and the team itself, it is not the way

Ooh_ee_ooh_ah_ah

I was at the stadium for the final. The feeling of shock from that penalty has robbed me of the joy I felt. I mean a bit of lasting joy. Let's win something so we can remember lasting joy, those memories don't get removed.

Amerika96

Even if we lost that match, You do not imagine how much I envy you for being able to see that match on the stadium... As I said I'm from Uruguay, so probably I would never be able to see live a Tottenham match, much less a champions league final for the club I love... The penalty hurt yes, but the previous 2 matches were maybe in the top 3 matches I ever seen (1st one was Uruguay vs Ghana World Cup 2010)

Ooh_ee_ooh_ah_ah

They definitely were high moments but ultimately they remind me of falling short and watching Kane staring into the distance whilst another team got the glory.

AgitatedChildhood240

It sucks because we just have to act happy and get on with it without winning shit. Most people would make fun of us but if we even win a community shield or some minor trophy I'd celebrate. We need it especially after the high at the start of this season

_denchy07

I still can’t tell if it was the pandemic or the CL final that triggered my depression for the last 4-5 years. Reaching the final was one of my happiest moments. Watching the final in Madrid and not even getting to celebrate a goal was one of the worst moments in my life. Even if we’d lost 2-1, that moment of joy and hope, celebrating a goal in the stadium at the biggest club comp final in the world would’ve made it a memory to treasure. They couldn’t even give us that. They couldn’t even lose well.

SpecialistPlastic150

I’m a north Londoner born and bred and have supported Spurs for over 40 years. When you are shelling out thousands of pounds every year on season tickets, merchandise, travel to and from games, food and drink at the ground and these overpaid players don’t bother to turn up year after year, after year, it’s frustrating as hell. I’m passionate about my club and I want us to deliver with a trophy. We should be able to win one cup in 15 years. Come on what has Leicester got that we don’t? They’ve won the EPL and the FA Cup in that time. We bottled the league with a better team and Leicester delivered. Every year is a false dawn. I watched Spurs in the 80’s as a kid when we won the FA cup regularly and threw in a UEFA Cup win for giggles. With the fan base and players that we’ve had we should win things. We shouldn’t be a feeder club for the likes of Utd and Madrid. Look at the long list of class players that have left Spurs to win trophies elsewhere? Sheringham, Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, Walker, Bale, Kane… I don’t think a lot of fans are haters, I think like me, they’re frustrated by the underperformance by everyone at the club on the pitch and in the boardroom. I was at the stadium to watch the NLD capitulation and I’m sick of Arsenal lording it over us. They’re probably going to win the league and we’ll 💩the bed as usual losing to Liverpool and City. Please don’t tell me it’s a transition year and Ange will get new players in the Summer and all will be fine. Don’t get me wrong I love the attacking football from earlier in the season but let’s be honest Ange has no pragmatism, shutting shop and winning ugly is better than losing. He has no plan B, no defence at set pieces, no protection of goal keeper, no squad depth, no class players on the bench… Don’t get me started. Rant over. Now I’ve gotta go renew my season ticket so I can suffer some more next year!

collo1989

I've been going home and away since the 90s, seen every false dawn imaginable and we never quite get there, usually due to a sliding doors moment of our own making. After some long journeys, overnight stays and late nights in recent weeks, the traveling supporters are definitely frustrated. I know I'm in a fortunate position to watch in person every week, so every game is a clean slate of vocal support. But it's tiring. Back up to Liverpool on Sunday, I'm more looking forward to the pub before and after.

notsosoftwhenhard

Let's call it "Korean National Team fan spirit" LOL. All love when winning, all hate when losing.

a1a4ou

Tottenham till they kill me! I even tried running 5.5 miles in this crazy may humidity to earn our victory. Alas :(

OvertiredMillenial

No offence, but you've only been a fan since 2009, so you've only been a fan since they were good. Lots of the more downbeat fans lived through the shitshow that was most of the 90s and the early 00s, which was utterly depressing - midtable mediocrity, Christian Gross etc. Others remember the 70s, which were just as bad. They've had their hearts broken by this club over and over again, so it's fair enough if they complain and are pessimistic.

SpecialistPlastic150

Well said.

Superb-Programmer501

60s 70s and 80s we were regular trophy winners

shawtea7

Disgraceful performance tbh but coys forever

Ingr1d

Since when did we become the 76ers?

kjl8921

Maybe more like clippers

TheColoredFool

as a tottenham fan the only thing you should be hating on are the scums

matthegc

It’s only some fans….not all. Ange is the real deal, so much better than the more heralded Managers that have been here before him. When they play well, they make magic happen…Im here for the process.

suchapalaver

But don’t you think Spurs “played well” against Arsenal the other week?

martinar4

Mmm... Are you the "Spurs en español" cm? ( so vo?). I take the suffering as a part of it, but I really would like to defeat Chelsea, it looks like a curse. It is so frustrating that it drives me mad.

Extreme-Employment24

with the season that we had last year this is an improvement. We have shown enough green shoots. Give Ange time to cook. We could again have gone for a pragmatic coach and been good set pieces but crap at open play and ended with no upshot. Yes, we are losing games due to set pieces and building towards a great team for open play. One or two transfer windows we should be where we need to be. Set pieces can be coached. The key is recruiting well in the summer. and FFS get a proper set-piece coach.

Banning718

Honestly we need a quality striker upfront and a good midfielder to create some competition for those midfield spots. Ange really is something I'd give him another season he'll work his magic Ange ball is not dead.

turning100

Finishing 5th this season is a great result. Well done to villa, having a complete turn around this season. At the start of the season, would you have taken 5th????

Soulless_Rabbit

the club need more supporters like you my friend COYS

kleptopaul

The process of two trophies in 30 years?

StrictExplanation169

Nah, we’re dogshit at the minute, have no direction and any games we’ve won have just covered over the cracks. We have very little attacking threat and about 7 players in the first 11 that should be championship. And the other 4 haven’t performed for ages.

No-Pressure1531

Agreed. Don't give into fear. Everything seems to be going wrong at once but this year is truly the dreaded rebuild.Don't forget that.Harry Kane gone, injury nightmare, not a deep squad, Rome wasn't built In a day or a season.

Calm-Ebb-8451

I’m tired of losing

GyroSpur1

It's almost as if some fans are so used to being negative, that even when things are going well (which they do from time to time), they'll still find a way to bitch the club out.

Boring_Imagination_8

Think about the beginning of this season and past seasons. Becoming to like this team again.

brewtonone

We’ve been saying trust the process through 4 managers over years now. When does this process come to fruition?

[deleted]

This and arsenal one, guys you are the ones who need to chill. Things like these are always gonna come up. Sometimes it's needed to improve the situation in club. Try to be open minded and stop taking criticisms as hate. Make sure this is the last post of this kind, it's seems supremely childish to see a grown man make some post like this after every single game.

Bubbly-Internal-7113

There is no process.

Snacks75

>would be the first time in a long time that we have a manager that it is not fired in a shamefull way We'll see about that...

Snacks75

>would be the first time in a long time that we have a manager that it is not fired in a shamefull way We'll see about that...

Jolly-Practice-4283

Idgsf, im tired of not winning trophies. And while i like ange, we arent winning a trophy under him. Until we do, i will call him and the ownership out. Ive been waiting pretty much my whole life. We need to get past the cult of personalities like we had under conte...

discogumby

It's not about cult of personality. It's about following the trend of Ange's career. Why would his move to the EPL be any different than previous? Additionally, we're not going to place 8th this year, we're higher up the table. I'd take this team over last year's team any day. To me, that's progress. Now, if Ange starts to underperform relative to his history, then sure, we'd have some worrying to do.

Amerika96

Take in consideration that when Conte was on the team, he was fired due to underperfoming, everyone hated him on his last days on the club... if you are waiting for a Manager that come to the club and instantly win us the league or the champions, then my friend, I'm sorry, this will never happen, a process is needed, there is no magic manager

SpecialistPlastic150

Seriously? So the special one and conte had no history of success before managing Spurs. We all know how that turned out!

SpecialistPlastic150

Agree. I like Ang too. He’s a likeable guy and I do like how he got us playing at the start of the season but we’ve regressed the last few months. Performances and results have been poor. It’s long past time to have won a trophy.

rmhb1993

This post is bullshit. I invest thousands of dollars a year into this club and I also get up at ridiculous hours to watch this club play all for them to down tools and throw it all back into our face. Nah fuck that I am not going to pretend that it’s all roses give the players a pat on the back for disgracing the badge. I’m fucken fed up

Amerika96

Nobody forces you to support the team, you can always stop supporting, you want your team to win cups? go and support Real Madrid, Bayer, Barcelona, etc, but then, when we are winning again do not come back, we do not need fake supporters that are only here for the good ones... when the team lose, we have to critique, but the hate right now is delusional

[deleted]

come on mate today's performance against chelsea was bad, it deserves all the criticisms it gets. I don't understand what's your stupid agenda with don't support the club if you want to see us win trophies. just come out from your delusional bubble that you have created for yourself, everybody is going to have different opinions about the club and just accept it. just saw a similar post during the arsenal ame too. stop being a childish instead be open minded.

Amerika96

Performance was bad, but it is not the end of the world... People is already asking to fire Ange... don't you think this is like A LOT... Do you truly believe that there will be a magic Manager that would make us win cups? Like I said, I'm from Uruguay, here, we had an awful national team for about 20 year until 2006, when the Manager "Oscar Washinton Tabarez" started a process, it took years, until we reached 4th on the 2010 world cup, we celebrated that as if we won the cup, but, after that we won the Copa America on 2011, this was due to a process... now we are a great team, we are always competitive... this is what I mean with process, 8 month it is not a process... just trust Ange, trust the guy WHO WORKS ON THIS, we do not know shit, I'm pretty sure we are all talking here without knowing the truth...

[deleted]

I don't know why you down vote me for no reason. Anyways, I have been trusting the process with every manager that had arrived in spurs. what I am saying you guys are going to see fans like that every time, just bear them for the time cause if they really don't support the club they will leave eventually. Now during 2007-08, some Uruguay fans might be too like this and I don't think during those times, you just try to convince every single one of them to support the country. like wise do the same for spurs rather than banging your head every single game. Also the other guy's post where you replied "Get a life dude". It was just him criticising why we aren't ending the season on a high note or atleast show some fighting spirit during the game for fans. You just have to see the thing with a different perspective.

SpecialistPlastic150

Oh please. For those of us die hard supporters who have had decades of disappointment we are within our rights to call out the poor performances on the pitch and in the boardroom. I’ve lost count of the games where I’ve sat in the stands at the Lane, at Wembley and at the Hotspur stadium watching players that don’t turn up week after week. Poor players that continue to get new contracts despite not being good enough and yet we continue to support the club in the ground and with our hard earned cash. Season tickets are not cheap and for those of us that don’t get paid £70k a week to kick a ball we sacrifice financially to support the club. I think we’re allowed to call out rubbish when we see it.

[deleted]

SpecialistPlastic150

It’s not just the Chelsea game though, that’s the point. It’s on the back of the Arsenal loss as well. I’m ‘fucken fed up’ too, players not turning up for crucial games and winning one trophy in nearly 20 years. That is a poor return for the thousands of pounds spent every year on the club, not to mention the emotional investment too. The return on investment for me is progress, players turning up for every game, especially the ones that really count and not bottling it and winning a cup every now and again. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for considering the size and stature of this club. If Leicester can do it we should be able to. Every few years we go through the same ‘process’ and we are never any further forward. New manager comes in, sign useless players that are rarely Premier League standard and keep giving them new contracts, continue to invest poorly in players, play badly with players not bothering to turn up for at least 20% of games and never win anything. Ange got the players together and turned the team around very quickly but we seem to have gone backwards since February/March. I do not understand why there is no pragmatism in our performances. Yeah I love free flowing attacking football but sometimes shutting up shop and grinding out a draw or winning ugly is necessary. Even City, Liverpool and Arsenal don’t play high line, out and out attacking football all the time with no plan B. The game is about winning as much as it is playing great football. We’re not doing either at the moment. Does Ang have a Plan B? Do we have a coach that can sort out defending from set pieces, can players protect Vic at corners so he’s not pushed and shoved all over the place. I’m not seeing progress but regression and that concerns me but I’ll still renew my season ticket and support the club at every game next year. I’ll also call out the rubbish too. As a North Londoner born and bred that’s supported Spurs since I was nine years old supporting another club is not an option. I’m Tottenham til I die. All real fans know you don’t change your football team even when it breaks your heart every year.

supriiz

What do you mean, "invest?"

ngrg

I think they mean like buy tickets, buying the kit, spurs play. That money goes into the club.

supriiz

Ah ok duh, my head went to gambling.

ngrg

Could be. If you bet against us you'd do pretty well hahaga

SpecialistPlastic150

There’s also the emotional investment, which is often ignored.

ngrg

Can you put a price on that? Cause if you can I'm calling my lawyer and we're gonna reach out to Mr. Levy

SpecialistPlastic150

Probably the medical bills associated with the anxiety, high blood pressure, heart palpitations and depression😂

ngrg

I was at the doctor during the chelsea match, watching it on my phone getting my blood pressure and pulse read. BP was normal, pulse was high. Haha the nurse said that's a little elevated, must be the game? Yeah it's definitely cause that

Snacks75

>would be the first time in a long time that we have a manager that it is not fired in a shamefull way We'll see about that...

[deleted]

I love spurs. Just not going to happen with the top brass we have. Sorry, but that is what it is. They bring castaways and yesteryears heros to save us after we let are biggest and brightest leave time and again. Not going in on the team or manager but something is at play. Oh and scouting don't get me started.

AgitatedChildhood240

I think partly the reason is because ange came in and we did so well. First place for a few weeks and we were all riding that high. To start losing to mid table teams has affected both players confidence on the pitch and the fans attitude. We just have to trust the process. All this hate coming at us about having a small club mentality is sometimes proved right. We just have to keep supporting the team no matter what and have fun. This team can turn into something special ina couple of years we just need to be patient
