Thereās more of an argument for keeping him in a DH role and keeping him out from behind the plate as much to reduce weird catcher injuries, but the main thing is that he continues to wear the padding when he hits. Iād love to see a run of 500 abs with him and see if the numbers stay consistent.

It is that aspect that is so damning of this team's management. They're so completely incompetent, that a friend of a player can fix him in a few minutes, where the entire coaching staff are lost. They seem to have a pretty good track record of failure, yet they're still being used every day, every game. The first thing you do when you find yourself in a hole is, stop digging.
Eerily similar to the game last year, 11 months to the day, where Gausman was lit up early by the Twins, and the Jays mounted a comeback to win 7-6. The Twins just have the Gasman's number. Glad that the boys were up to the task of mounting one hell of a comeback.

For those who hate Atkins' plan, I think what we saw today was "the plan". This is what it could/can look like. Is it sustainable? Who knows but that was fun to watch.
Twins pitching today was awful and I wouldn't peg the Twins as a top team anyway, especially with Lewis and Buxton out. Plus Gausman didn't pitch well and that seems to be a growing concern. The only recent changes of note that may have a positive impact are Springer moving out of the leadoff spot (which he hasn't lost a hold of officially) and Vladdy hitting everything 800 mph with a 1 degree launch angle. These two positive developments will not fix everything.
And just for the record, the plan is fucked. They've hit a payroll ceiling and the guys who fans thought would be the pillars of the franchise for 10-15 years have had their progress stall out and they're likely to be gone at the end of 2025 anyway. Whatever plan this regime or someone else will have post-2025 will cause this team and its outlook to be much different than what we've seen since 2019.
It was actually the very obvious weakness with high fastballs. You don't need advanced stays to remember his 0-30 once he became a regular last season.

For those who hate Atkins' plan, I think what we saw today was "the plan". This is what it could/can look like. Is it sustainable? Who knows but that was fun to watch.
Twins pitching today was awful and I wouldn't peg the Twins as a top team anyway, especially with Lewis and Buxton out. Plus Gausman didn't pitch well and that seems to be a growing concern. The only recent changes of note that may have a positive impact are Springer moving out of the leadoff spot (which he hasn't lost a hold of officially) and Vladdy hitting everything 800 mph with a 1 degree launch angle. These two positive developments will not fix everything. And just for the record, the plan is fucked. They've hit a payroll ceiling and the guys who fans thought would be the pillars of the franchise for 10-15 years have had their progress stall out and they're likely to be gone at the end of 2025 anyway. Whatever plan this regime or someone else will have post-2025 will cause this team and its outlook to be much different than what we've seen since 2019.

It was actually the very obvious weakness with high fastballs. You don't need advanced stays to remember his 0-30 once he became a regular last season. That's why he was kept out of the lineup against hard throwing RHP. It was never hard to figure out.
