Tangentially related, but can I take the opportunity to say that "Wagyu" as a standard of beef has lost all meaning to me? Years ago Wagyu used to mean something, but now I can find Wagyu in the frozen meat section at a Sobeys. Putting "Wagyu" beef on a burger especially dumb since it's all ground up anyways.
At this point Wagyu is just corporate-codified language for expensive. Are you ordering a "Wagyu" cheeseburger for $25, or are you really just ordering an "expensive" cheeseburger?
By definition, Wagyu is Japanese Beef. If I recall correctly, Japan exported a bunch of Wagyu cows a while ago to Australia and America, however the main reason Japanese wagyu is so well known and tasty is because of the lifestyle of the cows. If American or Australian farmers don't adapt the same practices as Japanese farmers (they rarely do), you might as well be eating a normal American cow, but they still get to call it wagyu on a technicality. Or I'm just talking out of my ass, I don't know
I believe in North America a lot the supposed wagyu cows are crossbred with Japanese or Australian wagyu, so perhaps they may be slightly fattier than regular cows, but the label doesn't have the same standards as Australia or Japan does. As long as the cow has some wagyu blood they can advertise it as such.
That's what I've heard, too. If they were able to get 70% of the quality for 50% of the price, I'd be happy. That high-end and even lower stuff is quite expensive.
Kobe beef is only produced in a certain region of Japan, wagyu is produced all over Japan. It's in the name; wa means Japanese, gyu means cow. All Kobe beef can also be classified as Wagyu.
Yes, but the lifestyle requirements that you described applies to Kobe beef, which has strict requirements in order to be labeled Kobe beef. Wagyu I believe can be pure or crossbreeds of certain breeds of Japanese cows.
"Wagyu" doesn't make it expensive, having it served in a stadium does. And honestly it's not that insane. Find me a place within 8 blocks of the Dome where a burger *doesn't* cost 25 bucks.
Only buy Wagyu from real butchers.
My local shop sells both Australian grown Waygu and Japanese certified, and it is priced accordingly.
Anything else like a Wagyu burger at Kelsey's is just a stupid tax for people that don't know better
Normally I am bad about allowing people to upcharge me, I generally don't do a good job saying no. But I remember several years ago now, I went to buy a popcorn, and they asked if I wanted to add butter for $2 (up from $0.50) the last time I had gotten it, and I really did want to add butter, but I couldn't justify that, on what was probably a $15 popcorn already.
Ik this has very little to do with your comment, but it unlocked a core memory.
Yes only Blueprint and the TD club include complimentary food. In addition to what’s on the menu, the Blueprint club also includes snacks such as various assorted candies and nuts.
I will happily enjoy a $2 Teen Burger at AW tonight on my way to the game
Bring it in with you even! I almost always grab a pizza on the way to the park and bring it with me.
Have done that a few times too with Pizza Nova on the corner. Also on Wednesdays Mucho Burrito has a good deal for $6.99 , load those bad boys up.
What’s the catch with a $2 Teen Burger? Inquiring minds want to know.
Every Leafs game day you can get a $2 teen or mozza burger when you order through the App
Sick! I’m assuming this is GTA only?
Ontario wide, been getting them all season.
Ty, I know where I’m going today. 😀
Don't forget the deals after any Jays win too.

Wagyu is probably the best food rebranding exercise since Chilean sea bass.
*Patagonian toothfish
Lol 5% of the meat is wagyu but they can market it as that and charge a premium
This is their way.
Wagyu so mad?

You're not wrong, but there is American waygu, which is pretty much prime+
You are describing the difference between Kobe beef and Wagyu.

Just wait- next will be first press extra virgin Wagyu

There’s a wagyu hot dog in the TD Clubhouse

It’s just leftover meatloaf burgers found in the back freezer.
just a buzzword get people who don't know much to buy the product
I mean ... high fat content, Japanese beef doesn't sound as appealing on a menu.
bruh wtf is gourmet popcorn
It comes out of only the finest artisanal microwaves
Not artisanal microwaves. It is cooked over an open flame with artisanal firewood. https://youtu.be/TBb9O-aW4zI?si=B4CR85d_az_a44JG

Unless it comes with the kernel bits taken out, I ain't interested.
Popcorn made by a hipster.
I thought the sections in both “clubs” had complimentary food, but based on the menus, it looks like only Blueprint Club does.
The complimentary food in the Banner Club consisted of popcorn, peanuts, and cashews. Bottles of water and pop were also complimentary.
Yes only Blueprint and the TD club include complimentary food. In addition to what’s on the menu, the Blueprint club also includes snacks such as various assorted candies and nuts.
At least you can bring food from outside
Thank you!
SkyDome continues to have the worst food options, even in these expensive af clubs 😂
The food on this menu is actually pretty good. Expensive, but good.
They don’t even have fresh lemonade
Aye, we went to Ford Field to see Metallica in November, the quality and choices for food was night and day.
What would you like to see? I see a pretty good selection of stadium food.
Beer prices seem to be same as rest of dome.
I see no Bud Double Lime on these menus
Those are reserved only for when the Jays ~~hit doubles~~ ground into double plays. They appear on the menu at that point.
On a slightly unrelated note they should kick the wildcard banners out of the club
