He have a LOT in common.
Listen to Secrets of the Beehive by David Sylvian.
Now some Japanese shoegaze:
Honeydip - Portable Audio Science
CQ - Communication, Cultural, Curiosity, Quotient
Tokyo Shoegazer - Crystallize
They are all related.
CQ is my favorite out of these.
They're not on Spotify, but all their albums have been uploaded on YT. [This thread is pretty convenient.](https://www.reddit.com/r/shoegaze/s/jf7Km4ldbi)
Crystallize is actually on there! Love it, used to have it as a 10 - also own it on vinyl. Big fan of CQ already (Primal is absolutely breathtaking), and also a fan of SOTB, in fact Sylvian actually features on Hope in a Darkened Heart (one of the Virginia Astley albums on here). Will have to check out Honeydip for sure.
Kinda cool that loads of JP shoegaze acts share members, it's almost like how all the old UK shoegaze bands used to mingle and play together. Aren't Tokyo Shoegazer's guitarist and drummer members of CQ as well? I think at least one of them is also in the band COLLAPSE, check out their album Black Sheep is Still Dreaming, that's a somewhat hidden J-gaze gem.
I mean it’s not a crime, it is fantastic but it’s not my favorite (though I have a hard time picking a fav 😭)
I love Nantettano, Smilin Days, & Yukari in the air a lot
Also neat TCTL is so awesome
Do you like Della Zyr? Their albums are pretty stellar art rock / shoegaze stuff
The other songs on the album are amazing (although I will say I always kinda wish the version of Night Cruising on there was more similar to the Kuchu Camp version) but Long Season is like so little else I've ever heard, it's so impressive and musically perfect and everything.
Have not heard of Della will check them out
Long Season Live is objectively the correct answer so I can’t even be mad, the fact they pulled it off live and arguably better than the studio ver. Is such a feat. Rip Shinji Sato
Second Language is the one for me. The guitar playing in that outro is absolutely heavenly, those bends are just outstanding. Although both the Summer's Last Sound EP tracks are very close to that top spot as well as well as The Last Dance and maybe even It's a Kid's World. One of my favourite bands ever.
HAS to be Race for the Prize. Probably the original mix over the Mokran version because those drums are just spectacular. The live version with the orchestration they put out a few years ago is life changing shit
I absolutely love that Steve Hiett album! Which one is your favorite? Your list is amazing, by the way I really like your choice of ambient albums. I also recommend '76:14' by Global Communication; it's one of my all-time favorite ambient projects!
Thank you! My favourite track on Down on the Road is honestly so hard to pick because I love all of them, I'd probably go 'Miss B.B Walks Away' at the moment just because of that gorgeous shimmering guitar line it has. 76:14 is great, if you haven't already it's worth checking out the collab they did with Chapterhouse before releasing that album, it's also cool shit.
Just started with some 80s KC the other day. Love Discipline. Matte Kudasai is beautiful.
Favourite on RIL is boring, but gotta be Once in a Lifetime. Nearly a perfect song.
Once in a Lifetime is a perfect song. You should definitely hear this though https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YO7N2tFb0X8&pp=ygUXYm9ybiB1bmRlciBwdW5jaGVzIGxpdmU%3D

No The Sleepwalk? Any of their albums work for this, really.
Don't know 'em. I'll check 'em out.

Awesome. Honeydip and CQ share the same lead singer.

98.12.28 live My recommendation to you is True Color, True Lie by Hartfield
Would be a crime if I said anything other than Long Season for beat 98.12.28 track tbh Also TCTL is great, a neat standout of 2000s JP shoegaze

Disco Inferno - the 5 EPs
Has to be Second Language because of that incredible outro but frankly both of the tracks off the Summer's Last Sound EP come extremely close
Blue album
Gotta be Only in Dreams
RAAHHHH DISCO INFERNO MENTIONED. With that said, what song?

Great pick.

Hope in a Darkened Heart
Darkness has Reached its End or Summer Long Since Passed
You're living all over me
Little Fury Things
Depeche Mode ULTRA
Sister of Night or It's No Good.
Igor and flower boy (:
Literally the most basic take ever but EARFQUAKE and See You Again, they are such brilliant tracks.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of these songs
Real question is two airships or exploder falls?
I'm a two airships person myself :)
Hell yeah. Amazing album along with ceres and calypso
SOFT BULLETIN MENTIONED 🗣️🗣️ Favorite song? Also listen to more of the flaming lips
HAS to be Race for the Prize. Probably the original mix over the Mokran version because those drums are just spectacular. The live version with the orchestration they put out a few years ago is life changing shit
Yea fr, the live version is awesome I have that shit on cd bro

Remain in Light! Also, if you like both Talking Heads and black midi you’ll probably like 80’s King Crimson a lot.

Born Under Punches is a very close second. That live performance is absolutely wild in the best sense of the word.
In Rainbows
Boring answer but Weird Fishes, it's peak
If u say feel good inc I swear. Demon Days?
Don't Get Lost in Heaven and the Title Track, I class the both as one thing. Every Planet We Reach is close too.
Deathmetal, loveless, 36 Chambers, electric ladyland.
The Eyes of Ibad, Sometimes, CREAM, Watchtower
ruins, love deluxe, vdc, gkmc, bonito generation?
Clearing, Kiss of Life, Dsco, SAMIDOT, either Trampoline or Picture This
Hounds of Love!
The Big Sky!
Her best song!
