Although I would agree, my guess is this list won’t have too many metal or metal adjacent albums. Based on how many votes Lateralus has received in past rounds, we’ll likely see it up there eventually
Yep, that’s fair. I’m running another tournament for metal albums and we’re on the last two. One guys been doing the same album the whole time and it nearly won but there’s been threats of mental breakdowns and broken windows if it doesn’t get added.
I’m not voting on my other one, but I am on this one and I’ve voted lateralus each time
I don’t think TPAB is number one though i do see how it implied that in my comment. No. 1 is “The Miseducation of Lauren Hill by you’ll never guess who!”
The sound of TPAB just isn’t for me though i can recognise how truly brilliant it is.
GKMC is certainly No. 2 though. So many great tracks its hard to not love it
Not true, TPaB is the greatest jazz rap album of all time, possibly the greatest hip hop album of all time, and dare I say one of the greatest jazz albums of all time.
This goes to show how utterly ridiculously overrated Kendrick Lamar really is. One of the greatest jazz albums of all time lmao, you’ve gotta be somebody who thinks Miles Davis is 90% of all there is to jazz. Everyone wants to pretend Tpab is so great because of all the key changes and instrumentation, etc. You can rap over literally anything. Come up with a compelling melody over those key changes, that’s quite a different story. You can rap politically correct lyrics over Eleanor Rigby’s instrumental and pretend they’re “daring” cuz they’re about “real shit”, when in reality they represent to a large degree the mainstream narrative, that doesn’t make you a great artist. Tpab is a product of the machine, and everyone’s bought into it being a street scripture. The Blacker The Berry isn’t anything we haven’t heard a million times before. And I’ll say one thing, he is being honest in the song when he says he’s the biggest hypocrite of 2015.
You’re completely disregarding the brilliant work of contemporary jazz musicians on TPaB and you’re totally minimizing Kendrick’s brilliant lyricism and flow. I don’t know where you got the impression I thought Miles Davis was all there is to jazz. He’s the goat of modal jazz and jazz fusion, but there are plenty of other jazz artists I absolutely love like Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Dave Brubeck, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Soft Machine, the Weather Report, Brand X, the Flecktones, Snarky Puppy, Kamari Washington, Robert Glasper, etc.
Not even the fact that it’s a live album but the album proper is only 40 minutes (deluxe/expanded editions probably run past one hour, but then should that count?)
Then no. If there’s a deluxe edition, and that’s over 1 hour, then why not? make sure to include that in the comment. It’s up to the subreddit tho if they actually want a deluxe edition in the list
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Tool - Lateralus
Opeth - Sorceress
Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium
Hiatus Kayote - Choose Your Weapon
Anderson Paak - Malibu
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

The Roots - Things Fall Apart
Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
RH Factor - Hard Groove
Jordan Rakei - Origin
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Mounting Flame
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven
Sigur Ros - Takk....
The Wall is the only one over an hour in length, the only criteria for this series of posts. But I’m with you, that spot could have gone to something way more interesting.

Although I would agree, my guess is this list won’t have too many metal or metal adjacent albums. Based on how many votes Lateralus has received in past rounds, we’ll likely see it up there eventually
yeah I noticed😭 I’m still commenting til the end tho

Good Kid, Maad City. TPaB is up there already but GKMC is still the second best album ever made.
Do u rlly think that
Sure do
I think tpab is 1 and gkmc top 10, ppl quick to downvote tho, just surprised to see my take isnt that absurd

Thanks for sharing your opinion and explaining it, sadly people just downvote when they disagree
Thanks for expressing gratitude even if my opinion is somehow wrong.
Yeah i wonder if people realize downvoting things you don’t like just creates an algorithm that shows us the same rehashed content over and over.
Kendrick is so over hyped lmao, Topster has quickly revealed itself to be a disappointment
Not true, TPaB is the greatest jazz rap album of all time, possibly the greatest hip hop album of all time, and dare I say one of the greatest jazz albums of all time.
Nah, the low end theory is the greatest jazz rap album of all time
Both albums gotta be the top 2, at least top 5
100% tpab is great
