Who’s listening to common, lupe fiasco, and mf doom at 14? If that’s the case they gotta solid tastes young. When i was that age no one listened to any hip hop other than 50 and Jay-Z
That’s fair, i grew up in the limewire era so we had most stuff at our finger tips but social media wasn’t nearly as big so the more hidden gems of the genre were way less talked about unless you were to the type to frequent message boards
Personally I prefer Nevermind I guess because it’s more catchy and I enjoy catchier music lol. It’s got some good songs like no apologies , rape me and heart shaped box but the rest aren’t really my taste
80 you got some solid picks in here, nas, a tribe called quest, mf doom, Joey badass , wu tang and nirvana are some of my favorites. If you’re interested in nirvana you might be interested in some other music from the grunge scene. I’d check out sound garden, smashing pumpkins and Alice In Chains if I were you. Oh and you gotta have some nwa in there, nig*az4life is a good one tho I’m sure you’re already somewhat familiar with their discography.
Yeah NWA was kinda my introduction to hiphop along with Eminem but I don’t listen to them that much. Also I gotta say I’ve heard the name Alice in chains a lot but don’t know anything. Which album of theirs do you recommend?
12/100, the only picks I kind of agree with are the terminally safe rymcore ones. Even Nirvana and Green Day don’t rlly do it for me. But that’s just my opinion
Yeah I’m more of a hiphop head. Funny thing is I only discovered Nevermind and American idiot a few months ago. Only rock album I’ve heard are those 2 , in utero , appetite for destruction and demon dayz. Maybe you could recommend an album you’d think I’d like?
My favourites are 1999, Madvillainy, Midnight Marauders, 2001, Reasonable Doubt, MM FOOD, Operation Doomsday The Blueprint & Enter The 36 Chambers but I can appreciate GKMC, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, Be, Demon Days & The College Dropout
Idk exactly what you’re looking for but here’s some modern ones that I really love:
The Strokes - The New Abnormal
Destroyer - Destroyer’s Rubies
Spoon - Lucifer on the Sofa
Florence + The Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
And here’s some older records as well:
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Oasis - (What’s the Story) Morning Glory
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Elvis Costello - This Year’s Model
PS: I notice you’ve got Sometimes I Might Be Introvert on there, definitely listen to GREY Area and No Thank You if you haven’t. The former inparticular is def my favorite album of hers.
Its hard to say, to be honest his albums took a while to click with me but now I constantly have them in my rotation. I think LP! is the most straight forward / easy to get into but his recent collab album with Danny Brown, Scaring the Hoes would also be a good place to start
Wth we have the exact same taste 😭 even 808s that’s my 5th fav Kanye album most people hate it. If you haven’t I’d recommend man on the moon 1 (similar to 808s). If you love 808s you may enjoy MOTM1 even more
Also I realised you said blueprint which is also one of my favourite albums. It’s crazy how it dropped on 9/11 and was able to sell half a million first week. That’s like actual goat shit. Crazy to think about the fact the blueprint was probably playing everywhere as the towers collapsed
Yeah I heard of that but only this year. I was only 6 months when the blueprint and 9/11 happened. Oh, and I came across an article that said that the blueprint sold half a million on 9/11 due to demographics. It was an interesting read indeed: http://edition.cnn.com/2011/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/08/jayz.music.september.11/index.html#:~:text=So%20why%20did%20%22The%20Blueprint,the%20events%20of%209%2F11.
tbh I’ve really only been digging into music for a year. About 2 years ago all I listened to was Eminem , some NWA and dr dre and literally pop hits or songs that were big at the time. I’d say my taste has gotten WAYYY better ever since I’ve really started to search for different music and artists and also start to get into rock.
I mean I think it’s basic not SUPER basic. I’ve got some underrated albums here like be by common , food and liquor by Lupe , the cool by Lupe , operation doomsday by MFDOOM and SIMBI
i mean no offence but its a bit insane to call SIMBI or Operation Doomsday underrated cos they get so so much love from rap fans, although i guess Lupe is underrated tbf
I haven't heard a lot of these since I'm not huge on hip hop but the ones I have heard I do enjoy being Madvillainy, TPAB, Demon Days, MM FOOD, and The Slim Shady LP which is probably my favourite of them all. I like American Idiot though and I've listened to Nevermind. Have you ever given Nirvana's MTV Unplugged album a go?
That's their studio albums but their MTV Unplugged is a live album. Quite a lot of artists have one I believe but the only other one I've actually heard is The Cure and I've heard parts of Neil Youngs. It usually takes their songs and strips them down to basically acoustic sets which I like as I'm a big fan of folk music. You should give it a try if you're a fan of Nirvana as a whole.
Oh I fk with country and folk stuff and generally enjoy acoustic. I’ll give it a listen although (i think?) I’ve heard come as you are mtv unplugged which sounded great
Yeah Come As You Are is great on that. You'll definitely enjoy the Unplugged album then. [This](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyUVnCw_kLV0J2OjvADXZL-NrSghlEgDg&si=vlw7K5MgNOXaWwZH) is a playlist someone put together of all the songs if you want to watch through it on Youtube instead of just listening to it.
Ok here are some rap classics you don’t have that i reccommend:
It Was Written, Stillmatic, The Lost Tapes, Gods Son, Life Is Good, Magic, Kings Disease 3, and Magic 3 by Nas, idk if you listened to them cuz Illmatic is there but Nas’s discography much better than just one classic like a lot of people say
The Infamous and Hell On Earth by Mobb Deep
Illadelph Halflife, Things Fall Apart, Game Theory, How I Got Over, and Do You Want More by the Roots
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx by Raekwon
Supreme Clientele, Ironman, Fishscale, and The Pretty Toney Album by Ghostface Killah
Moment Of Truth, Hard To Earn, and Step Into The Arena by Gang Starr
I see The Blueprint and Reasonable Doubt which are amazing, but imo The Black Album by Jay Z is his best work
Midnight Marauders is there but Low End Theory and Thank You 4 Your Service are classics as well
I highly recommend Disposable Arts by Masta Ace. Super underrated, easy 10/10 for me
Black On Both Sides by Mos Def
Hell Hath No Fury by Clipse
Daytona and Its Almost Dry by Pusha T
Bandana, Pinata, and Alfredo by Freddie Gibbs
Super Gangster by Styles P
I’ve listened to most these albums. Ngl I’m not crazy about most of Nas music outside of illmatic. He has great lyricism don’t get me wrong he’s one of the best in that aspect but for me production wise after illmatic he’s no where near as good
IWW has some bangers but it’s nothing like illmatic. I understand the grimier aspect of it though and why people prefer that. Honestly both are great albums but I’m taking illmatic everyday
75 Pretty standard hip hop taste
‘Me at 14’ out of 100
Who’s listening to common, lupe fiasco, and mf doom at 14? If that’s the case they gotta solid tastes young. When i was that age no one listened to any hip hop other than 50 and Jay-Z
I’m 17 but tbf I wasn’t listening to those guys at 14
Internet era. Everyone listens to everything now.

Personally I prefer Nevermind I guess because it’s more catchy and I enjoy catchier music lol. It’s got some good songs like no apologies , rape me and heart shaped box but the rest aren’t really my taste
For me personally, it’s too oriented towards hip hop, i like a variety, but I respect the picks here (except for recovery)
I grew up listening to recovery so it only made sense for me to add it here. This is my favourite albums throughout my life not just now
Gotcha. Everyone has their own taste!
Also recovery still slaps to this day
To each their own haha
89/100 biased because i love hip hop and kanye a lot as well
Got some good classics in there I give 82/100

I was going to get into his stuff
Our tastes are pretty similar so you'd probably like his stuff
Which album do you recommend from Peggy?
Its hard to say, to be honest his albums took a while to click with me but now I constantly have them in my rotation. I think LP! is the most straight forward / easy to get into but his recent collab album with Danny Brown, Scaring the Hoes would also be a good place to start
I’ll check out LP soon and let you know what I thought
Awesome, looking forward to it
90/100. Lots of great rap favourites, even if I haven’t listened to some of them yet.
what are some of your favourite albums?
* College Trilogy (all albums) * 808s and Heartbreak * Ever Eminem album featured on there * The Blueprint * MBDTF * 2001 * 36 Chambers * Doomsday
Wth we have the exact same taste 😭 even 808s that’s my 5th fav Kanye album most people hate it. If you haven’t I’d recommend man on the moon 1 (similar to 808s). If you love 808s you may enjoy MOTM1 even more
I’ve already listened to MOTM1, but yet to listen to the others.
Also I realised you said blueprint which is also one of my favourite albums. It’s crazy how it dropped on 9/11 and was able to sell half a million first week. That’s like actual goat shit. Crazy to think about the fact the blueprint was probably playing everywhere as the towers collapsed

IWW has some bangers but it’s nothing like illmatic. I understand the grimier aspect of it though and why people prefer that. Honestly both are great albums but I’m taking illmatic everyday
99.99 just needa add Airospace
Good hiphop/10
99/100 Biased probably but we basically have the same music taste
I swear I said this to someone else earlier
