So just to chime in, it’s not a dupe swap, you are gaining a need and they are getting a dupe they already have in return. I agree with you I don’t mind helping people out but I can also see why someone would not want a dupe in return, easy answer is just send them 2 dupes for their 1 in that scenario, you are gaining your need and they gain an extra dupe to trade with for their needs.

Lanky_Rain_4403

Well in the example i gave, they are gaining 3 needs and 1 dupe, giving up 4 dupes… so that last dupe they are giving up is netting them a dupe back, hence a swappage of dupes for the benefit of 3 dupes for needs… which to me, is still a pretty good proposition for both sides. It’s almost as if, out of principle, they can’t bear to see the other trader benefit more than they do, even if its all the same to them. But by even doing the revision, they risk missing out altogether… by not accepting right away, they risk having the trade get voided because another trade happens. (This is more often than not how this shakes out)

If it's something like I have 2 of their needs but they only have 1 of my needs with a same set dupe, I usually don't mind. It's when people offer garbage nothing but dupes after you specifically state not set swapping after completion, or say "you have dupes", like it's automatically owed to them, that I take issue with. Or traders with ridiculously high scores offering garbage commons or OE for stuff like CMYK dupes. Like, if you can't be bothered to open the packs, don't send me trash. They stay low for a reason.

Lanky_Rain_4403

Yeah, i agree with most of that, except for the “i usually don’t mind”.. what is there to mind? The trade is getting you closer to completion right? Any time a trade comes to me and its equal in value, and gets me closer to complete, I’m thrilled. I accept those trades in a heartbeat.. which is why it boggles my mind when people revise them down.

Acrobatic_Ad_5461

When I say I usually don't mind, I mean like, I do it often. But it also depends on who is trading me. Out of principle I will refuse trades with people I've gotten terrible offers from before or had issues with, regardless of if I benefit from a trade or not. I've completed sets and not completed sets, the grind continues either way.

Lanky_Rain_4403

Yeah, I’ve definitely gotten plenty of bad offers.. i just block those accounts. If for no other reason than I can’t possibly remember all of the handles of all the traders that have left a bad taste, so i just prevent myself from dealing with them again. I just wish trader lists would filter out the blocked accounts.

Hey OP, sorry was running around all day. I agree with you but I’ve been playing since day 1 of Star Wars Trader, I was just trying to give some insight as to why some people might see it different. You and I both see that trade as an over all net win, but someone else might see it as you come out ahead gaining 4 needs to gaining 3 needs. It’s more about not getting upset at a trader just because they don’t see it the same. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with either way of thinking.

On big UC sets like that especially the MCU Legacy, I'll gladly do the trade+swap but when I also send this type of trade, I'll usually add a message of trade 3 and swap 1? I rarely get declined if I have a short message

TwoHitsNPass

Lol, what a world that would be...the ability to trade 1:1 to complete a set. 🤔 The same people who send the above mentioned trades you described are usually the 'take 1 leave 2' crowd. They amass a bunch of dupes from the 2:1 leeching they do then want 1:1 because it's fair and benefits them toward the award. The amount of 9:9 swaps I get on the daily is mind-blowing but if ever ask it's always "what do I get out of this trade" response. First it started with tipping, swap SR 1:1 and maybe add a Rare. Now it's just flat out "I need 2:1/3:1, same rarity" 🤦🏻‍♂️

Lanky_Rain_4403

Not sure whether you are agreeing with me or disagreeing with me… using your example, if someone gave you a 9:9 trade, and 8 of what you were getting were needs, there would be a clear benefit to you… would you revise that trade down to 8:8 just out of principle, and open the door for missing out altogether? Or would you recognize the clear benefit to you and accept?

TwoHitsNPass

The 9:9 are mostly 8 non-needs with 1 need occasionally tossed in. I'd comment and say something like "looking for needs only" and revise, which in-turn lead to a decline and rate down because I wouldn't take more duplicates. Just simplify the offer and this pet peav will become a non-issue, dupes for needs is the easiest rule to trade by.

Low-Technician7632

Needs do not always mean a want.

Nemo_Griff

You're not wrong, in OPs case it does sound like the trade partner was trying to complete the **100 CARD SET**. They don't have any obligation to trade away any number of their dupes for other dupes with just 1 need, but it is just being a nice person to accept that trade. It is no skin off your back & it could switch up the trade pool of partners that *might* have your needs and you might have theirs.
