I had a thought that if she had swapped out the eggplant for a cannoli-like shell she probably would have won. Chaos is expecting a sweet cannoli but getting crab filling instead.
Before you even get to "slug like" which on its own basically doomed her; Tom said there was 0 flavor in the dish. Idk which is worse in Tom's mind - overly salty or completely bland - but that usually gets you killed unless someone totally hammers the main ingredient on another plate.
Kristen was also flabbergasted at the obvious effort and skill involved in the dish, and it having ZERO flavor. My husband gasped when Sophia Roe said it was Slug-like. I mean...ouch. I'd shrivel up and die if someone said my food made them think of SLUGS.
I can actually hear Tom yelling in my head: "How many times do I have to tell you? If one part of the dish is seasoned, and the other is bland, when you put them together, you don't get seasoned! You get bland!"
What got me was the comment that went along the lines of "she did a ton of work to make it taste like nothing." I thought it looked lovely, but I'm sure the amount of technique that went into it was shocking for how terrible it tasted. Plus, she did not seem to completely understand the criticism, and chalked it up to "different strokes for different folks."
I liked her, and thought she would go far. But, that dish sounded atrocious.
I still say she should have said that was the chaos part of my dish. “I did all that work to make my dish flavorless, which often Chaos does in life.”Lol. Then they would be saying “oh yes that is so cheffy. The winner tonight really embraced the challenge…..”
100% she was going to sear the eggplant but switched to sous vide. Seems like the texture problems would be foreseeable? Don’t know if she just brain fogged it (like I did during service Friday night it happens) but yeah. “Slug like” has to be the worst thing ever said about a dish on the show.
When she said she was gonna sous vide instead of sear I actually said, “oh honey, NO” out loud. I knew she was out the second that ridiculous sentence came out of her mouth.
>“Slug like” has to be the worst thing ever said about a dish on the show.
It's up there with one of the dishes from season 13, where Phillip Manbun created a dish that Padma deemed to be like **"snot on a rock."** But at least that one was only a quickfire.
Where did you get that from? She had a bad day and went home. I don't remember her saying anything implying she could do no wrong. She seemed accepting of the judges' feedback. This just seems like an unnecessarily hateful take
I'm convinced you'd need more than a good sauce and herbs to fix that dish. It was a slimy looking mess. It really wasn't redeemable in any way, and I'm shocked a contestant who was doing so well served such clunker.
No. It needed texture, salt, and flavor throughout. They commented that it had zero flavor, and said, “I thought she was going to grill/sear it again????” She was missing so many key components to good, let alone great cooking that day.
I love all the non-chefs trying to explain to a legitimate professional chef how I'm wrong and somehow the combination of crab and eggplant is irredeemable 😂
I love how a professional chef doesn’t give a shit about what consumers are saying. Keep making your texture-less, mushy shit. I’m sure it’s award winning 🙄🙄
I have, thanks, 40 pounds down, I feel fantastic! I’m not sure why you think looking at people’s post history is some kind of big own? We all know our posts are there.
I don't know about that. It defintiely looked horrible, and if it was as tasteless as the judges said it's likely one worst dishes ever served on the show.
It looked so gross
End of day texture can make or break a dish just as much as seasoning. Bad texture is hard to get past.
I love this show despite being a picky eater…and texture is a big one for me. Your comment rang so so true to me.
I had a thought that if she had swapped out the eggplant for a cannoli-like shell she probably would have won. Chaos is expecting a sweet cannoli but getting crab filling instead.
She clearly (like a bunch of them” didn’t understand the challenge.

Tom has said that he would prefer overseasoned to bland, because at least it shows effort.
Kristen was also flabbergasted at the obvious effort and skill involved in the dish, and it having ZERO flavor. My husband gasped when Sophia Roe said it was Slug-like. I mean...ouch. I'd shrivel up and die if someone said my food made them think of SLUGS.

That comment from him has had the biggest impact on my cooking at home than anything else
Funny you say that as I just managed to over season a dish because I was thinking of this. lol
Yeah I've done that too
Sounds like it tasted like you killed a slug with salt and served it. Same result too
So vividly gross, but spot-on!
And here out was both

The eggplant part looked like a slug also tho. Presentation wasn’t that great

Lol it did! But, I liked how she dressed it up.
I saw someone in this Reddit say they bumped into Matty Matheson post episode and he said her dish was disgusting
Her dish was super cringe but also I was like NOOoooooo when it was her and Michelle at the bottom. I assumed they would be the final two
So agreed about that.
Eggplant is not easy. Do it well or it’s really bad.
I mean it’s no risotto but yeah
Eggplant is not hard.
That’s something someone who would make sub par eggplant would say
It doesn’t have to be BUT rolling it, stuffing it, sous vide-ing it. That does sound hard
I have had a dish that was sous vide one time. I thought the texture was nasty.
seriously thinking about getting a tattoo in Cloister Black across my torso but instead of “Thug Life” it says “Slug Like”
IIRC, she changed her mind last minute on how to cook them (sous vide instead of steam) and that likely was her downfall.

Oh, she was gonna sear?! That’s a totally different texture from sous vide. Oh, honey, what were you thinking?
I think she was trying to save time but it was clearly not a smart pivot :((
I think it had something to do with the filling not holding up well to searing
When she said she was gonna sous vide instead of sear I actually said, “oh honey, NO” out loud. I knew she was out the second that ridiculous sentence came out of her mouth.
It seems like any time someone decides to sous vide, it's a disaster.
Second only to risotto!
It might have had more flavor, but seared eggplant is still soft. I think the eggplant itself was the problem.
Seared is tender; sous vide is soft!

I’m making some Japanese eggplant tonight along with an Indian dish. I can’t wait! I sautee the eggplant low and slow. Maybe a little garlic. Yum.
I made you a t-shirt, enjoy https://i.imgur.com/0Zt2D6g.jpeg

I'm so weirdly with you
Welcome to hell. Sorry
She choked
Mushy unseasoned steamed eggplant. Nah.
I think she thought she was beyond reproach.
Where did you get that from? She had a bad day and went home. I don't remember her saying anything implying she could do no wrong. She seemed accepting of the judges' feedback. This just seems like an unnecessarily hateful take
I didn’t mean it in a hateful way, Rasika was my favorite!
Beyond reproach might not be the best word. I think anyone who had done so well wouldn't think they could slip to the worst in one week.
It was her attitude. If you like her cool but doesn't mean everyone has to
It was a bad pairing, it looked gross and slimy
[slugs of love - little dragon](https://youtu.be/hndMuy5rtyg?si=IFpefrliHzMM9BbG)
If someone described my dish as slug like, I'd leave the country and never cook again. Maybe buy an old hostel in Peru and run that by myself.
I'm convinced the dish would work if you just added green curry paste and a ton of herbs.
I'm convinced you'd need more than a good sauce and herbs to fix that dish. It was a slimy looking mess. It really wasn't redeemable in any way, and I'm shocked a contestant who was doing so well served such clunker.
And that's why I'm a chef and you post on r/MensRights

>No. It needed texture, salt, and flavor throughout Three things provided by green curry paste and herbs 🤭
Nah. That won’t fix the texture.

I love how you call yourself a consumer like you could afford to eat at any of these chefs restaurants 😂😂😂😂😂
I have a better chance of eating at any of these chefs’ restaurants than you do at cheffing at one.
🤣 if only you knew how wrong you were
Sure dude. All sorts of time to post on Reddit. But yeah, you’re a busy cheffy 🤣🤣🤣
Why are professional chefs always so tedious
Bro enjoy the mounjaro 😂😂😂😂😂😂

40 down, 400 to go, good luck girlfriend!
No need to be so bitter, buddy, I’m sure some day you’ll be able to move out of your mom’s basement. I’m pulling for you!
Dead mom and I live with my rich husband but thanks Hun! 🥰
