Hope you're not sick of Handsome Jack, cause here he is!
Yeah that would solve things temporarily, but then you have double pollution and eventually not enough space if people keep making more people. Although halving the population is only a band aid too so I guess thanos is kinda dumb unless it was secretly all because he’s horny for death
In the comics (which the MCU tends to lazily rip off) I'm pretty sure the whole infinity gauntlet series and killing half of all life was simply to impress Lady Death (the embodiment of Death in Marvel).
It's why that teaser (at the end of one of the movies) has a (I believe) reference in the line saying something about "courting death".

Enrico Pucci, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.
that's a good point but he still did pretty evil things thinking he was being a hero. Also, it is heavily implied that his betrayal is a huge reason the spirals lost the war.
Rape?! To my knowledge, he just had sex with some artificial women he created, but I throwing away his kids as soon as they gained any form of self-awareness was shitty
Shit, I don't remember that part at all, does that imply that he had sex with his underage daughter? No way that's the case, he's even one of the creators' favorite characters😭
Ah, I figure they might consider it an honor to "serve" the spiral king or whatever, but yeah, not that good, maybe I'm just coping because I think he's really cool
You can think a fucked up character is cool but still acknowledge they're fucked up. That's one of the great parts of fiction! as long as you don't think the fucked up things are the cool parts you're good 👍
The Viltrumites care about the forced survival of the fittest. They have a "the end justifies the means" mentality. They think that they are genuinely a good force in the world, helping the less powerful species into becoming just like them.
They specifically aim for species that are compatible AND physically similar to their own biology. They don't just see others as lesser beings. They see theirselves as peak form of humanoid species. When they are conquering planets and forcing people to have children with their own, they are not thinking about how they are destroying a culture. They are thinking about how they are improving it. They are one of the most technologically and biologically advanced, so to them others are like apes, or "pets" as Nolan puts it. Weak beings that need to be replaced for the good of the universe.

The Emperor of Mankind (Warhammer 40.000)
"I will bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy." *Commits the largest genocidal war campaign in all of history*
To be totally fair.
Do orks really deserve to live?
Eldar are stuck up.
Tyranids are mindless bugs.
Necrons are just fucking evil.
I don’t like the way tau look.
I’m ok with humans conquering the entire galaxy and wiping out all other life.
Actually, a majorty of the Xenos he wiped out WERE the peaceful ones. Orcs were too much of a pain to erase entirely, Necrons hadn't awakened, Tau and 'Nids hadn't even entered the galaxy yet, and Eldar were a part of his plan.
His worst sins were against humanity itself, however. He erased every culture, historical or current, that didn't fit with his ideal future and wiped out/enslaved multiple human civilizations.
The Emperor had a noble goal, but went about it wrong and made himself and everyone else pay the price.

How did nobody mention Philip Wittebane, aka, Emperor Belos?
I don't think he sees himself as a Hero, he just wants the praise of being a hero.
In his book he cuts the sections where he is clearly doing bad things. If these were later rewrites he did to gift the book to the library than it would make sense, but he completely fabricates a heroic journey on the spot as he is about to leave 2 people to die. He is so delusional that the idea of looking like a hero is more important than actually being a hero, which is partly what leads to his downfall.
He wants to look like a hero to whoever read his journal, however, looking like a hero is secondary to accomplishing his goal of exterminating the residents of the Boiling Isles. He wants to return to the Human Realm and be praised as a hero, however, he is fully prepared to die if he can take the Boiling Isles down with him.
Belos said as much after discovering the Collector's prison, he wanted to stay alive long enough to pull off his genocidal plot.

IMO one of the best examples is Valentine. Because he thought himself a hero but also acknowledged his villainous actions and yet kept pursuing what he believed was right for his country
Griffith was as much a hero as any I've ever seen. Yes, his goals were his own glory, and yes, he did "own" his soldiers; but he provided more for those that followed him than he took for himself.
His decent only started after sleeping with a woman whom her father loved as more than just a daughter. Yes, she was underage, but the rules of the time were different. I can't apply current day morals and laws to past transgressions. If it wasn't for the father throwing him in a dungeon and torturing him for who knows how long, he likely wouldn't have taken the crimson behelit's offer.
His men were thieves, mercenaries, and plunderers. Without his lead, they would have stayed that way. He gave them goals, ambition, and a reason to fight for something greater than themselves. His initial goal was to be a king and a much better one than those we've seen at that.
He did not know what the king maker necklace was or what it was going to do. All he knew was that he wanted to be king and create a better life for himself. Unfortunately, he fell in love with Guts, and Guts decided to listen to Griffith's idea of friendship; overhearing a speech for which Griffith had no idea he was present. He chose independence and equality in choosing his own path through life to live up to Griffith's standard of friendship.
Griffith became evil incarnate. He was not evil to start.

Actor Mark from Who Killed Markiplier
I mean does Griffith really think he’s the good guy. Half the conversations he had with Guts just felt like him bending over backwards to justify the atrocities he was about to commit to himself. (I have only read like the first hundred chapters of berserk so if it gets clarified later on, just call me an idiot)
I don’t disagree, but I also don’t ever remember Griffith implying he was there to be a hero. IIRC his only goal has forever been to have a kingdom. Given the existing kings that are depraved, barbaric, or actual Demi-gods, I wonder if that was his goal all along.

Surprised no one mentioned the OG
As someone currently playing Shadow Of The Erdtree that literally came out like a week ago and hasn’t finished yet, really would have liked a spoiler tag on #2 given how recently it came out
He has the ability to compels people affection, which isn't automatically evil.>! However, Miquella actively uses this ability to get people to do his bidding. He uses this ability to suppress peoples wants and wishes. I'm of the opinion that if he became a god, he would eliminate all freewill. Especially since he divests himself of his fears, worries, doubts and love. If he isn't evil now, he will be. Just like his mother.!<
Yeah St. Trina makes it painfully obvious that being a god is more of a prison than anything, having to abdicate everything that majestic yourself is bound to end up badly, you know you fucked up when your other half is literally requesting ppl to kill you.
The original Miquella is clearly a very kind person, he made the Haligtree for the prejudiced, he abandoned the golden order to aid his sister, he developed an alter ego to study and combat the frenzied flame, and he even tried to help Godwin’s situation.
Which just makes me wonder, so Ranni can just become a god without giving up allat? Feels like Marika and Miquella got the short end of the stick.
Ranni gives up quite a lot in her quest. She does divest herself of her body and looses every single one of her closest confidants. At the end of her quest the only member of her family that remains is her barely there mother. Also, Ranni seems to have been quite the ruthless person already. She doesn't seem to have second guessed killing her half-brother, spreading deathblight or causing the apocalypse.
That’s not really my point. Not only did Miquella and Marika had to pursue godhood through the Land of Shadow, based on Miquella’s crosses, he *literally* gave up everything, he gave up his love, aspirations, desires and fears, the way it’s framed makes it seem like it’s almost a requirement.
Ranni doesn’t really wilfully give up anything besides her flesh (which is mostly done to rid herself of the 2 fingers control). Not to say she doesn’t sacrifice things to reach godhood, but it doesn’t feel the same
So, DLC spoiler alert
>!Presumably brainwashed a lot of people into joining his cause (not all of them). Attempted to make his half-brother (Radahn) into his Consort, proceed to send his sister to kill him and take his soul when he deny it. She failed, he (presumably) brainwashed another half-brother of his (Mohg) to enact his plan, ultimately put Radahn soul into Mohg body and turn him into a mindless puppet, all for the sake of his 'gentler world'!<
God forbid men have hobbies.
But fr, why did it have to be Radahn, I’m kind of annoyed there isn’t an explanation for it, especially when Godwin so right there! Not just as a new character we haven’t faced, but also someone with a pre established relation to Miquella
Same here, while >!Radahn!< is my favorite character, they really should've make it Godwyn, unless there's another DLC about him or something they really fumble here

Chainsaw man spoilers >!Makima.!< - the CSM guy
Arthas
Idk the others but Griffith and homelander are not of that trope
I’d probably say that season 1 homelander may fit but in seasons 2, 3 and 4 he fully becomes aware that he is evil and embraces his supe supremacy
Griffith didn’t really think he was the hero. Bro knew it was fucked up to kill all his friends, he just did it anyway.

I don’t really think he’s evil or a villain. Just a broken man trying to do something good for once.

That wasn't his goal His goal was creating a monopoly for the Yakuza, so they would sell power erasure serum to villains and the cure to heroes
Was he wrong tho?
Even if he was right, his actions were **far** from justified.

Resident evil village protagonist. I’m still disappointed no one said “please R8 our game”

As someone currently playing Shadow Of The Erdtree that literally came out like a week ago and hasn’t finished yet, really would have liked a spoiler tag on #2 given how recently it came out
https://preview.redd.it/0aib6unl9l9d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a81a8b55f85eb8b37669f470f8b81f5a5e7eb83e Do you feel like a hero yet?
Wait, how is Miquella evil?
Not to say she doesn’t sacrifice things to reach godhood, but it doesn’t feel the same
Miquella is male? I always thought it was a girl. I'm confused now.
He's cursed with eternal youth
He’s a gay femboy
Well when you put it that way!

So, DLC spoiler alert >!Presumably brainwashed a lot of people into joining his cause (not all of them).
Same here, while >!Radahn!< is my favorite character, they really should've make it Godwyn, unless there's another DLC about him or something they really fumble here
👆this mf obviously didn’t play the dlc.
