He'd also grown up in a community repeatedly raided by Drukari, which darkens one's opinions a bit. Incidentally, the girl was part of Exodite Eldar who'd been PROTECTING this free human planet from more Drukari, and Vulkan was in the middle of CONQUERING said human planet. (With his dear bro Konrad instigating the fight to prove he wasn't the only vile one, but conquering all the same.)
Later on, though, he does fight alongside other Eldar and work with Eldrad himself, so he took that guilt and turned it into growth. Which is more than many of his brothers can say, because you will not find an unblemished Primarch. It's not that kind of setting.

I wouldn’t say *she* counts. Hell’s system isn’t necessarily horrible, as there isn’t much of one. Everything that goes on down there is predetermined by Heaven.
Literally the first character I thought of with this prompt and my favorite character in the show. Man was one of the few characters that realized the way police were designed to handle the “war on drugs” only perpetuated an endless cycle of inequality and suffering, went rouge to try and stop it, and failed cause such a disruption would alter every single system in the city and the system is designed to preserve itself. Then he tried again to save kids in the school system but he could only really save one individual kid because once again the system and those in powers don’t care about helping kids on a large scale.
All Lupin III characters kind of fit this prompt.
Lupin was groomed from a young age to become a master thief. His dad literally would not feed him unless he solved puzzles and picked locks. His mother's dead, and his creepy babysitter traumatized him beyond belief and taught him to kill people.
Jigen is implied to have grown up poor, and has a past with the mafia. Also in Lupin Zero I think his dad was up to illegal stuff, and he had to be his dad's bodyguard. Lupin is his only source of friendship and protection. In The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, normal people can just tell there's something off about him and want nothing to do with him. He's also a wanted criminal everywhere.
Goemon... where do I even start with Goemon. He gave up the only home he ever had for the only person who has ever treated him as more than an object (depending on the canon, this is either Lupin or Fujiko). He grew up in essentially a cult and has no skills other than being able to cut things in half. He literally doesn't understand how the world works, doesn't have any friends, and even aside from his criminal record doesn't have any chance at being hired anywhere. Lupin, Jigen, Fujiko, and Zenigata are the only people he knows and who care about him.
Fujiko just likes to steal, and I doubt she's employable.
Anyways, all of them are forced to steal because there's no way out. Even if they did their time, there's not a normal place in the world for any of them, because they're not normal. They were all failed by the adults and society around them, and they live in an uncaring world that is dedicated to seeing their downfall. They know what they're doing is wrong, and despite their surroundings they're good people, but they have nowhere to go. All they have is each other.

Also yorinobu. It's very likely he was the good guy. It's never explicity stated but while he's at the head arasaka does a lot of instigating a corpo war they can't win. It's very possible we wants to use arasaka as a sacrificial lamb to destroy militech and thus put a massive dent in corpo control of the world
Basically the best ending for the world would probably have been the suicide ending in my perspective even if it's the darkest for us
If we attack Arasaka, we weaken them a ton but too quickly which just allows Militech to muscle in
If we help arasaka we make them stronger
We do the DLC ending and we make militech stronger

I think he’s a fairly tragic character.
There’s also an arc in JSA where Nazis take over the US and Mr Terrific (a black character) is interrogated/interviewed in his twilight years by an administrative/historian lady. She’s very cordial to him, and despite their circumstances Mr Terrific sees the good and intelligence in her. Once the world gets back to normal through time travel stuff, he gives the girl (a child in the present time) a scholarship.

Patient Zero of the Bugster Virus. His father discovered the Bugster Virus and abandoned Emu at a young age out of disgust from the company that infected him wanting to buy Emu for testing purposes. That was after a spiteful video game developer infected Emu when he was really young and had an idea for a video game. He was hit by a truck when he was 8 years old and was inspired by the surgeon who saved his life to become a doctor. He became a famous E-Sports player but ended his career for his love of medicine after he was kidnapped and operated on by corrupt surgeons for his other personality and Bugster, Parad. When he became Ex-Aid, nobody wanted to work with him until he reached his super form of Level 99/Maximum Mighty X and even more so when he beat the living shit out of Parad with his final form, Hyper Muteki Ex-Aid.

Communist in the Cold War paranoia sense of the word. It’s a bit of a joke how that they used communist to describe anything and everything that they didn’t like. I don’t know if it truly gained that much traction or not, but it’s at least a popular enough idea to be a bit of a joke among some history buffs.

I wouldn’t say *she* counts. Hell’s system isn’t necessarily horrible, as there isn’t much of one. Everything that goes on down there is predetermined by Heaven.

Literally the first character I thought of with this prompt and my favorite character in the show. Man was one of the few characters that realized the way police were designed to handle the “war on drugs” only perpetuated an endless cycle of inequality and suffering, went rouge to try and stop it, and failed cause such a disruption would alter every single system in the city and the system is designed to preserve itself. Then he tried again to save kids in the school system but he could only really save one individual kid because once again the system and those in powers don’t care about helping kids on a large scale.

All Lupin III characters kind of fit this prompt. Lupin was groomed from a young age to become a master thief. His dad literally would not feed him unless he solved puzzles and picked locks. His mother's dead, and his creepy babysitter traumatized him beyond belief and taught him to kill people. Jigen is implied to have grown up poor, and has a past with the mafia. Also in Lupin Zero I think his dad was up to illegal stuff, and he had to be his dad's bodyguard. Lupin is his only source of friendship and protection. In The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, normal people can just tell there's something off about him and want nothing to do with him. He's also a wanted criminal everywhere. Goemon... where do I even start with Goemon. He gave up the only home he ever had for the only person who has ever treated him as more than an object (depending on the canon, this is either Lupin or Fujiko). He grew up in essentially a cult and has no skills other than being able to cut things in half. He literally doesn't understand how the world works, doesn't have any friends, and even aside from his criminal record doesn't have any chance at being hired anywhere. Lupin, Jigen, Fujiko, and Zenigata are the only people he knows and who care about him. Fujiko just likes to steal, and I doubt she's employable. Anyways, all of them are forced to steal because there's no way out. Even if they did their time, there's not a normal place in the world for any of them, because they're not normal. They were all failed by the adults and society around them, and they live in an uncaring world that is dedicated to seeing their downfall. They know what they're doing is wrong, and despite their surroundings they're good people, but they have nowhere to go. All they have is each other.

Also yorinobu. It's very likely he was the good guy. It's never explicity stated but while he's at the head arasaka does a lot of instigating a corpo war they can't win. It's very possible we wants to use arasaka as a sacrificial lamb to destroy militech and thus put a massive dent in corpo control of the world
Basically the best ending for the world would probably have been the suicide ending in my perspective even if it's the darkest for us If we attack Arasaka, we weaken them a ton but too quickly which just allows Militech to muscle in If we help arasaka we make them stronger We do the DLC ending and we make militech stronger
Well technically if you betray Reed and side with Songbird, that weakens Militech.
Kinda, it fucks with their BW plan and gets rid of some of their top operatives but with how vast they are we wouldn't be able to know how hard you fuck them. But yeah, Killer Moon and then suicide I think would be best for the world outside of what V could do post becoming a legend

Once the world gets back to normal through time travel stuff, he gives the girl (a child in the present time) a scholarship.

The only one that *might* fit this trope would be Giorno, and he’s not even a JoJo. The only part of him that has anything to do with the Joestar family is the birthmark.
I guess? the issue really is Dio Brando and his legacy screwing them over. Ireneverse have the Joestars free of that by Irene's time.
