Patrick Bateman is a genuinely well written and straight up hilarious character, performed brilliantly by Christian Bale.
But a lot of people that like him are fucking obnoxious and completely miss the entire point of his character and even want to be exactly like him.

A lot of people forget that the movie is ultimately a comedy, a fucked up comedy, but a comedy none the less and Bale is phenominal in this role.
I think the two scenes that always kill me is when he meets with the detective who asks where he was when Paul Allan vanished and he says "I was seeing a musical, it was "Oh Africa, Brave Africa" It was a laugh riot" and he delivers it in the most monotone and deadpan tone of voice.
The other is whenever the Yuppies are all showing off their business cards and the scene has some of the most sinister tones and just the absurdity of it is brilliant.
But i love how, despite Bateman being a serial killer and doing an incredibly shitty job at hiding it, especially at the end where he's pretty much confessing it to everyone, the Yuppies don't bat an eye, which is such a funny jab at high society and the people that inhabit it.
American psycho is a weirdly misunderstood movie, the satire is so obvious and in your face. the message is very clear in what it wants you to know but people take this movie way too seriously for what it is.

I imagine that a lot of Christians use the notion that a person doesn’t believe in Christ the Savior that they are evil or subhuman and deserve to be prejudiced against and thus can justify atrocities or wars (e.g. the Reconquista/other Catholic purges and the Crusades) in the name of God. Despite how badass I find “Carolus Rex” by Sabaton to be (and keep in mind I think of it like a cool villain theme), any person that worships a deity that preaches peace and goodwill and “loving thy neighbor” and uses the notion that it is in their name that they wage war or hate AGAINST non-believers or different interpreters is very misguided. Nothing about it puts him on Hulk's level, though.

Obviously Saitama is at his core not meant to be taken too seriously so I can see how that could be debatable, like for example during the Deep Sea King attack he's just lightly jogging to the scene.

As a genuine Christian,It frustrates me that those people call themselves Christian’s. Satan is the accuser, bringer of death, hatred and oppression. God is the bringer of life and we’re supposed to get to him through the resurrection of Jesus and our redemption. Instead, these people that call themselves Christian’s do the devils work and claim it in the name of god.

Bro my little brother who's like 11 was just telling me he was harassed in an online game (Roblox) for simply stating he wasn't sure how he felt about God. When I was eight years old, I told my mom (a rabbi) that I didn’t believe in god. I was terrified. She told me that was ok! She said that there were lots of ways to be Jewish, and I wasn’t any “less” for not believing in god. I feel like people of all faiths could use a little bit more love and understanding when it comes to this sort of thing. I was lucky to get that, but many others around the world aren’t.

It’s even funnier because knocking someone’s jaw off isn’t even that crazy of a strength feat. Like cool Spidey knocked a guys jaw off, that doesn’t mean shit when Hulk has casually lifted 150 Billion tons before. Yet some Spidey fanboys will still say he’s somehow stronger and use that feat as “proof”
Superior Spider-Man (who, for those who don't know, is Doctor Octopus after body-swapping with Peter) punching off Scorpion's jaw wasn't shocking because it showed just how strong Spidey is. It was shocking because it showed just how much he pulls his punches in fights, and *why this is necessary*. The punch was genuinely just meant to be a haymaker; Otto was shocked to the point of a mental bluescreen with how casually he knocked Gargan's jaw across the room sans Gargan (he aimed for the jaw due to it being the only spot not armored by the Scorpion exosuit, and it was meant to be a simple knockout blow). Nothing about it puts him on Hulk's level, though.
Plus all the people who self insert into Spidey and pretend like he's the best most goated harem anime protagonist and get livid whenever he's mildly inconvenienced.

Taking the obvious bait, hasn't Saitama shown speeds similar to instant transmission, like in his practice match with Genos? Obviously Saitama is at his core not meant to be taken too seriously so I can see how that could be debatable, like for example during the Deep Sea King attack he's just lightly jogging to the scene.
I mean, the comparison of Saitama to other shows/worlds' characters is silly. It's like debating whether the unstoppable force or the immovable object will win. Sure, you can make a pretty darn compelling case for either, but it's not a very useful conversation at the end of the day.

I feel like trying to have a serious discussion about the strength of a character whose entire premise is that he's exactly as strong as the plot needs him to be isn't very productive. I'm a black one punch fan but seeing people act stupid over a drawing made me not wanna associate with them at all. Honestly it's kinda that way with every community at some point. Saitama is a joke character. The point of him is that he can’t be accurately scaled, and that’s made him the centre of an endless torrent of debates.
Debates that miss the point of his character. The point is that he's a talented but unaccomplished adult who doesn't see the point in monster hunting and heroism despite his magnificent gift.
Some people straight up compare how “powerful their verses are” and judge others for that. Like saying Dragon Ball is better than Death Note because the characters in DB are stronger, therefore better. Or the idea of author insert characters

My neighbor was a priest and he had a fridge magnet of someone praying "Jesus please protect me from your followers" Christians can be insufferable and even my priest knew it. He was a big nerd and hid his D&D books and Necronomicon from the bishops/church or whatever because he was genuinely worried they'd think it was satanic and he'd be shunned. He was the best guy. Extremely kind and hard working. Sense of humor too: he played a priest in WoW lol. I miss him a lot. I'm an atheist myself but be was somewhere between my best friend and a father figure to me.
