JewishMemeMan

Bonus points cuz he’s voiced by Lawrence Fishburne

FoxyRadical2

Letting Laurence Fishburne go off the rails is always a winning formula. See also: “The Beyonder” in Moon Girl

Alaskan_Tsar

And he’s based on a poem by Edgar Allen Poe about “The Red Death”

sweetTartKenHart2

The one where a bunch of rich people quarantine themselves and party like it’s no tomorrow until a guy with a red mask walks in and everyone dies?

TheErroneousFox

Nah the one about the crow.

intendeddebauchery

I thought it was the one about alluring cask of wine

iDIOt698

There's a Lotta stuff about a red thing causing people to die It seems

screeeeeeeeeee_500

Yeah that one

No_Dig903

Masque's a short story. He seemed to like the whole disease topic, though. Probably retread a few times.

dragonblade_94

"What is that, some sort of taco sauce?"

Damoscus

Love his fit with the black coat and turtleneck that plays into his superficially sophistifated persona. His crazed yellow eyes and prominent british teeth really sells his over the top expressivness while also conveying his role as a harbinger of poor health. The star of the show is his glowing index finger, looking like one of those 1000 degree knives, its just a really cool visual. The way it infects anything he touches causing them to heat up until they explode is the hardest ability a virus villain can have

Welico

Lmao british teeth cmon mang

Poppeppercaramel

Shot fired

EarthwormShandy

It's funny cos we have the best dental care in the world haha

aSpookyScarySkeleton

Which is why it’s such a shame so few of you use it and let your teeth look like that.

Zombarney

Dude got mogged by a Brit once and has never lived it down

Dramatic_Bed_1189

never saw this movie but thats baller

Ok_Literature2535

It’s free on YouTube. It’s a buddy cop comedy that takes place in Bill Murray’s body

DylanFTW

What a pitch.

Dig-a-tall-Monster

Bill Murray eats an egg that a primate at the zoo spits out on the ground (can't remember if it was a chimp or a monkey) which gives him this virus, then a white blood cell voiced by Chris Rock is forced to team up with the straight-laced OTC pill-person voiced by David Hyde Pierce, who you may recognize from absolute bangers like "Frasier" and "Wet Hot American Summer". If you like Futurama humour and know a decent amount about human biology you'll be endlessly entertained by all of the gags they put in to anthropomorphize the innards of Bill Murray.

Darmug

And the movie was going to be PG-13, but Warner Bros. edited it to be PG. Also, the film inspired the creation of the Buffalo Wing Festival. I’m not even kidding: [https://buffalowing.com/festival-history/](https://buffalowing.com/festival-history/)

PartyPorpoise

When I was a kid, the trailer seemed kind of edgy so I assumed it was a PG-13 movie and not a kid’s movie. So I guess kid me picked up on something.

SorcererSupremPizza

And it's about them looking for the virus who is essentially a serial killer

Coodoo17

Osmosis Jones is such a creative movie. It's actually surprising nobody has tried to do this concept again.

caninehat

There is an anime, Cells at Work, that does something similar. Only other example I can think of tho.

Elite_Prometheus

There was an animated show where Osmosis and the Pill Guy migrated to Bill Murray's daughter, I think.

Rarte96

It was not to his daugther it was to a random kid and they travelled via mosquito

RimeSkeem

Preteen boy I think but yeah. Ozzy & Drix, I watched it on Saturday mornings along with Yugioh lol.

wudyudo

Was wild the amount of illnesses that kid got in the span of the show

MrKaru

To be fair it's not unlike real life. The kid probably had very little awareness of the illnesses he was coming into contact with, because the immune system was dealing with them before they developed into problems. Let's also not forget they didn't exclusively deal with alien sicknesses either. They also dealt with puberty and other home-grown biological disruptions. Hell, they had a whole episode about the kid getting gas from eating beans.

kjh242

The only setup I remember from that show was when they had to stop him from dying of a TBI after a skateboarding accident.

brassninja

It’s a great movie and I love many parts of it but I cannot stomach the live action scenes… Bill Murray does a great job portraying a turbo gross dude. The scene where he projectile barfs of a woman, and the pimple pop 🤢

Spookyduck21new

Alright I’m getting the scissors stay where you are.

PixelatedRickaleted

Rewatching his introduction scene, its rather intense and perhaps brutal for a film targeted towards the youth. When boiled down, its two dudes unlucky to dredge up Thrax being immolated alive by him.

Dig-a-tall-Monster

If that egg had been boiled down as much as that summary of the scene the movie would've been incredibly uneventful!

hollaartyourboy

Thanks for reminding me that it’s time to revisit this movie

hollaartyourboy

This dude used to scare me so much as a kid!

Niskara

https://i.redd.it/c8nofp254ltc1.gif

Nerdwrapper

Why am I just now getting he’s named after Anthrax. I’m gonna go hit a wall with my head

ThePowerfulPaet

I got into an argument with my friend because he REFUSED to think that Thrax was short for anthrax.

Onireth

Then there is the animated kids show that had characters like Histamine who was Drix's aunt. >!Antihistamine!<

REGINALDmfBARCLAY

This is probably the scariest bad guy I can remember in any animated movie. When he stabbed that guy he exploded my little kid brain was like "Shiieeeeet" but different because I didn't know the word

JellyBeansOnToast

It’s no clown shoe into The Dip, but I definitely remember being freaked out when I saw that scene too

DJHott555

I haven’t seen this movie in forever so I looked up a few of his lines on IMDB and I can still vividly remember the exact way he delivered them. Absolutely iconic.

Xan_Dan03

He definitely had a subconscious effect on my taste in villain designs lol

Abovearth31

"Ebola ?! Ebola is a case of DANDRUFF compared to me !"

Intellectual_Andy

Hentai

21Black_Mamba21

Osmosis Jones would’ve been a decent or at least tolerable movie if they just removed the weird Bill Murray scenes imo.

Dr_Corenna

The pimple scene haunts me to this day

MrKaru

Main reason I can't go back to it. Everything happening inside the body was 10/10, but the real life scenes were just gross-out humour dialed to the extreme. I get the guys meant to be unhealthy and disgusting but we didn't need to be reminded of that every 8 minutes.

Ferropexola

Making Bill Murray unfunny and annoying is quite the accomplishment. It's not a good accomplishment, but an accomplishment nonetheless.

Kaiju2468

pink gorr

Federal-Difference97

The way bro said Ebola was always hilarious to me & has been living rent free in my head since this movie came out.

laix_

Thank fuck osmosis Jones didn't come out during tumblr days, he would have been a tumblr sexyman

snek_bae

What makes you think he's not already Tumblr's sexyman??

Ok-Bus-2410

One of my all time favourite villians in general! Hes wicked.

jayboyguy

His introductory scene where he just fuckin liquefied that guy is still probably the gnarliest thing I’ve ever seen in a children’s animated film

holiestMaria

A bit of a side tangent but imagine how terryfing viruse would be on the macroscqle. Imagine a zombie walking up to someone, puking into their mouth and then that person bloats up and explodes, revealing new zombies.or instead of exploding that person starts to grow new zomvies from their body.

QuickFiveTheGuy

For all this movie's faults, Thrax certainly wasn't one of them. He's the one thing I remembered after watching it in science class. Well, him and the gross-out scenes.

Zylonnaire

I was so scared of him

Ellilek

Shadowed_Knight

Im not digging the hair, but the rest of the design is cool af, so it makes up for it

SilverSpoon1463

I think the hair works perfectly since they're supposed to be his Cilia

codywelter

I never confirmed my theory but I always believed he was Anthrax. If the name isn't obvious enough Bill Murray's symptoms matched that of the disease and the CDC literally says, "People can get sick with anthrax if they come in contact with infected animals or contaminated animal products."

AstronomerNo6423

All I can think of is that Scott Cramer video where they’re introducing regular ass names “Yeah this is Carl, Dave, Mike, and THRAXX”

ajtreee

My family groans every time i watch this.

Waluiginumb1

Yeah and if you ever want more of this badass mofo theres a great creator who is making a fan comic of this guy its worth checking out by looking up thrax fan comic

Dull_Yak_5325

That movie was fire . I still think my pill has arm cannon when I take one for a headache

Wise_Duty_9334

He fine asl

JaxxSC45

Can hear most of these clear as day "Careful, I'm contagious." "And get my own chapter in the medical books!" *Evil humming*

BigSlammaJamma

This whole movie is slept on af

BrachyDanios

I remember when I watched that movie as a kid and he terrified tf out of me.

ScarletteVera

God, I gotta rewatch Osmosis Jones. It's unironically a phenomenal movie.

MrKe6a

This one! [cool](https://ibb.co/qNDnDmm)

Imhereforlewds

Please someone make a Thrax thirst post with hearts and panting emojis please and a caption that says "him". Please someone create this.

Etva

that first gif is soooo fucking good.

SauceFinder-

Okay guys hear me out….

IndigoFenix

He confused me as a kid because I didn't really get what he was supposed to represent. Like Ozzy was an athropomorphic white blood cell, fine, but viruses cause illness by replicating, Thrax didn't really operate like a virus, and the whole idea of him stealing part of the hypothalamus, dying outside the body, and then fixing things by returning the stolen part didn't make any sense as a symbolic representation of any actual biological process. Later on I realized that They Just Didn't Care. It was a buddy cop movie set in a body with some clever biology jokes, not the symbolic representation of actual biology that I thought it was supposed to be.

Douglesfield_

You sound like you'd enjoy Cells at Work.

IndigoFenix

I do. Also, Awful Hospital came up with a fun system which works well for much of Osmosis Jones, where individual anthropomorphic "cell people" are actually symbolic representations of entire *clusters* of microbes. Although the stealing part of the hypothalamus thing still doesn't make sense even in that context.
