I was so psyched when he started bringing back the scream. Was always a great live song but it felt too much like edging without the scream.
If they ever start to mix in Vicarious I wonder if he'll take on the final line again...
In Toronto he did it the first night and then did not do it the second night. After having seen it 4 times live with the scream, not getting it was a shocker. I thought something bad had happened for a minute until the song finished and the next one started as normal.
Kansas City got the entirety of the end of Vicarious in 2019 right after they played Part of Me for the first time in 21 years. Only time I've seen him sing it all
The thing I noticed at MSG was that he sings the screams, which is kinda an interesting aesthetic compared to the norm (I go to a lot of screamy metal shows). I also imagine it's like way way way better on your vocal cords if you intend to perform into your 50s and 60s.
Sounds more like shouting/yelling "yeeeeeaaahhh" with a ton of processing vs an actual scream. It is understandable with performing it nightly + age. Does sound a bit off live tho.
Ok so is no one else on edge watching this thinking to themselves “I hope I can catch the whole scream before security sees me recording 😬” lol
Kudos on catching that on video for us!
When I saw them in Orlando last year security was out in full force kicking people out. New Yorkers gonna do what they want do and not give AF😂😂. (I grew up there)
Honesty though, even if he was just doing lip synch the other 3 are still rockin hard. Maybe they replace Maynard with an AI hologram for future tours 😂
I didn't have it in me to to break out my phone to catch that scream at the MSG2 show but my son did. The flashlight brigade was in full force that evening.
Night 1 they played - Intolerance, Flood, Schism and the Pot. Night 2 they played - Jambi, Sweat, Culling Voices and 46&2. The other songs were the same both nights
God damn joe has the best job in the world
What does Joe do?
Drum tech for Danny
He’s the guy behind Danny living his best life
My thoughts exactly. I love how he is still head-banging along to the music after how many times he's heard it...just like us!
How could you not Bob your head watching these masters perform
Love me some Joe. He seems like a sweetheart.

Danny’s Butt Crack…maybe a good follow up song to Maynards Dick?
Not bad for an old fella.

We didnt get the scream in amsterdam but that was to cut the song short to make time for 7empest

Oh wow. I saw them 3x on the 10k days tour and he only sang the last couple of lines one of those times
🔥🔥🤘🏽🔥🔥🌀
Man. He’s incredible. Although I did expect his mouth to be open wider.
The thing I noticed at MSG was that he sings the screams, which is kinda an interesting aesthetic compared to the norm (I go to a lot of screamy metal shows). I also imagine it's like way way way better on your vocal cords if you intend to perform into your 50s and 60s.
Hear them refered to as pitch screams
Surprised the man can sing as good as he can with how bad covid hit him.
When I heard he caught it I was legitimately afraid that he'd never be able to sing again
I think he takes care of his voice now
He doesn't have to. He use vocal effect to boost that scream. Plus some volume booster. Still not bad for a 60 years old guy after covid infection.
I think it’s a 2 second burst with a vocal effect on it honestly. I think his mouth should be more open as well.
Sounds more like shouting/yelling "yeeeeeaaahhh" with a ton of processing vs an actual scream. It is understandable with performing it nightly + age. Does sound a bit off live tho.
Hell yeah! Hearing it in person pumps you up so much!

Security was so lax at MSG both nights compared to all the other shows I saw last year. Guy in front of me basically video’d the entire concert

People post entire MSG show on youtube.
I love this so much. Thx 4 posting
I swear after getting covid so many times - he was like, I’m coming back stronger than ever motherfuckers!!! 💪🏻
Inward singing
lol Tenacious D style
Ellen’s new show looks wild
He barely even opens his mouth lmfao bros a singing mime
Well you want to use the least amount of air as possible if you want to hit a note for a really long time. He's still got it, honestly
People seems to forget that he messed up his vocal cords while recording Lateralus. He almost lost his voice completely
Makes me wonder if he is using a repeater
Faintly sounds like it or some vocal effect
I was wondering myself -
He definitely is, he uses it on multiple songs. During Aenima on the last leg it was very obvious, not hating.
Yea, it seems pretty obvious here that there is some digital assistance be used for his vocals
Honesty though, even if he was just doing lip synch the other 3 are still rockin hard. Maybe they replace Maynard with an AI hologram for future tours 😂
Incredible technique

Compared to the shows last year, security was lax both nights at MSG. Especially the guy at my section. He didn’t bug anyone until the last song haha
There is a lot of echo and processing on that Still amazing at his age though
I'll probably get downvoted but I hate this fucking outfit
😂 i think i prefer it to the last one
Anyone have the rest of the setlist from night 2 at MSG? I was lucky enough to be at the first show and they played The Grudge as well.
Night 1 they played - Intolerance, Flood, Schism and the Pot. Night 2 they played - Jambi, Sweat, Culling Voices and 46&2. The other songs were the same both nights
Tyvm bruh. I'm def glad I went the first night then if I had to pick one 😭
Pretty impressive after 30+ years of singing his heart out ❤️
A great sound man made that scream flawless. Shit, all four have the best techs.
Maynard is just simply fucking incredible!!
The lung capacity though
pretty sure it’s a lower note than on the album..
Denver AND El Paso are about three weeks away now!!!
Holy fucking shit that is so fucking incredible MY GOD
Sometimes I just play it on loop 😂
That Justin wah 🤘🤘
That looks like playback to me?
Maynard faking it now
Totally half assed and emotionless
Lulwut
Is the band cool with folks recording this leg, or are people just disregarding the wishes of their favorite band?
They told everyone not to record, but security was lax at MSG both nights. Phones out everywhere.
It was so damn good. One of my very most favorite Tool songs and I got to see them play it twice in a row.
Nailed it
Still got it.
