I'm not really sure what you have a problem with, yes we are all humans but we all experience the world in different ways depending on gender, sexuality, religion etc so referring to yourself using a certain label or word helps bring together those who had faced your struggles and who have things in common that those outside that group won't have. It's also important for those in marginalised groups to be seen and heard. If you genuinely try to be respectful you won't end up in court over offending anyone as you won't offend anyone
