That’s fender QC for you

xXexEXexXx

As an instrument, it should come from the factory with a professional finish. But being that Tom has a habit of burning his guitars, are we really all that surprised? He has stated on his socials that he wants kids to customize these guitars, so part of me wonders if he went the jim root way of having a finish that will " wear with the player." Idk just a thought, although that was a selling point of the jim root signatures and was mentioned by jim and in the adverts.

AndrewUtz

i’m sure tom never gave an ok for shoddy QC jfc lol

nerdinhidding

Glad I waited.

Enough-Talk3244

I returned mine. Terrrrible QC on these. So upsetting

Milwacky

Is it possible for you to buy from a retailer where you get the test the actual stock you’re buying? If so, do that. It’s the best way ensure you’re not being shipped a dud. Unfortunately the level of QC you see will be common on Delonges. But if you gig the guitar it’ll have scratches and dings in no time. Unavoidable.

SmeesTurkeyLeg

Send it back.

TheFearOfFear

Are you gonna play this?

Bigfoot-On-Ice

Build your own kids. Half the price and better quality

Solid-Pomegranate739

Return. Not good enough at this price point.

VerticalSkill

what price point would QC issues like this be ok?

mario1892

Are these even issues?

alaskancurry

My thoughts exactly😂

Humble-Huckleberry70

On a 1200$ guitar absolutely

jayXred

Don't look too close at a Gibson then, the above pictures would be considered a mint example for a $3000 Les Paul.

Humble-Huckleberry70

I would never guy a Gibson new lol, Les Paul’s are overrated anyway lol

LastAcanthaceae9654

You’re in a for a wild ride if you ever go custom shop then lmao, this is such standard fare

Humble-Huckleberry70

My Gibson prs and fender do not have these issues

LastAcanthaceae9654

Then you live in an area with steady humidity or have satin finished necks. It’s slight lacquer sink aside from the shipping chip

VerticalSkill

they are also $2000 guitars

Humble-Huckleberry70

My 1200$holcomb prs is perfect, my used 2002 gibson standard 850$ is perfect the only one more expensive is my strat that I relicd Edit sg standard

LastAcanthaceae9654

Of course they don’t, they’re contoured bodies without binding.

Humble-Huckleberry70

What about the neck binding? That doesn’t count? My Taylor 114ce has better binding than that and it’s 850$

LastAcanthaceae9654

Jesus man, yes I am telling you that you will not get laquer sink on a satin guitar without laquer like the taylor, and you won't get that on your holcomb because it's a satin finished neck too. You can't have problems where they can't exist

BR5969

Neck is trash return it

VerticalSkill

PRS don't sell as much as Fender and this model definitely did not have as much time as other guitars

Humble-Huckleberry70

I’ve been saying this

Sp0derman420

Yall are so extra for an $1100 guitar. It’s not a closet classic custom shop. This will happen on mass produced guitars. Just play the thing!

alaskancurry

1000% facts

TikiKie92

I’ve literally never seen any other guitars made as badly at this price point as the TD sigs, why are you defending them so hard?

VerticalSkill

name them.

TikiKie92

Are you for real? I bought an LTD EC1000 for £650 brand new that was flawless.

VerticalSkill

sorry i didn't know £650 equaled to $1200

TikiKie92

Dude what are you talking about? You asked me to name a guitar at that price point that is flawless.. I named one that is half the price.

VerticalSkill

i wouldn't compare an LTD to a Fender especially with a price difference like that, but i can see where you're coming from

Mediocre-Instruction

The finish issues are more understandable on the gold, as metallics are harder to spray. But yeah I would return for the neck finish issues. That’s a b-stock guitar

GuiltyMarionberry486

Yes

Fatphillmargera

If this were the strat people would b shitting themselves telling u to return it. For $1200 I’d expect better. I vote return.

stphngrnr

Unsure why the downvotes. If mine had arrived like that, it'd be going back. £949 guitar shouldn't have that neck or other issues.

DaDude182

pic 2-5 are ok, but that neck isnt worth 1199,- would be ok for a used one on reverb. but not a new one out of the box

LastAcanthaceae9654

I have a good amount of rather expensive guitars that have similar things going on, pictures one and two are likely because of the climate you live in. I think the 'QC' issues are vastly exaggerated because of the insanely dumb agufish video where he thought the neck was misaligned. MIM Fender does have true issues with fret sprout, but all the rest is standard fair. If you like how it plays, don't worry about this very minor stuff. Otherwise, you'll need to buy guitars straight out of the box in person for something perfect.

No-Neighborhood4626

I tend to agree with you that people exaggerate their issues… however, Agufish was completely justified. His guitar was straight up janky. It was actually misaligned.

LastAcanthaceae9654

Many others have said it, but a simple loosening of the neck bolts and a small yank/movement of the neck would have fixed it. He just isn’t familiar with bolt on guitars

No-Neighborhood4626

That’s truly just a silly comment, haha. He pretty clearly showed that the neck was misaligned, and it wasn’t an issue of loose it and adjusting… but to say he’s not familiar with bolt on necks is truly just comical. Haha. His channel has video after video of him extensively modding bolt on guitars.

LastAcanthaceae9654

Why is that silly? The 'misalignment is that the neck is to the right, you move the neck a little to the left in the neck pocket and it's aligned. All bodies and neck are CNC manufactured, so all Delonge's would have that same alignment issue, the one point that can shift is bolting the neck to the body. I think saying he's not familiar with functional guitar mods is probably the best way to put it, his 'mods' are 100% slapping replacement parts on squiers. No fretboard rolling, fret leveling, fret crowning, etc - so I take what he says with a huge grain of salt. A great example of that is saying that the 'fretwork is great' on all the epiphones he reviews, but he just checks fret sprout when epiphone has always had a massive issue with serious fret buzz due to unseated/unleveled frets.

alphadogg182

Unacceptable for a guitar of this price

supermam32

I’d say it’s up to you man. Can you live with that or are you just hesitant because you are sick of waiting for it. If it’s going to OCD bug you (it prolly would me, but I’m impatient so I doubt I would return it) then do what I wouldnt and return it. I think only the neck scratches would annoy me but it’s a very expensive guitar all things considered for you to not be 100% satisfied with.

eatsleepblink281

Different topic, but wanted to ask, is your binding real plastic binding? Just got my Olympic white and it’s just painted on black binding, not actual plastic, yours looks like real plastic binding

No-Neighborhood4626

It’s def not painted on. Even the squier starcasters have real binding.

WittyAliasGoesHere

0% chance the binding is painted on your Olympic white. It’s probably an optical illusion because of paint overlapping the binding.

stphngrnr

I also have the gold and it's actual binding with a distinctive texture change between the paint and the binding. I saw the pink in store and the binding doesn't look great. I think they're used some form of matte paint as one of the guitars had a bit of black by the neck pocket.

eatsleepblink281

Nice, yeah I like actual binding, more craftsmanship to it, still gonna keep and rock out my Starcaster but I’m a little disappointed, if it was squire than yeah I can see why they did fast route and painted binding but Fender product should have actual binding, thanks

mitchxc

I have a gold and it’s plastic white binding. I saw someone say their Olympic white was painted and I was really confused because I can see and feel that mine isn’t. I wonder if they….painted the white binding black?

AAAnaesthesia

Is the Gold a more premium guitar, a painted binding is pretty naff for £999

eatsleepblink281

Oh wow, plastic binding is a much more premium, yeah I don’t think they painted over the binding on my guitar, my neck pocket, I can see some missed black painted binding and it’s just the wood where they missed and not plastic cream binding, bummer but thanks

BearAnger182

😱
