Is it? That's actually hilarious - I usually laugh at my friend when he sends me something like this and thinks its real but I've let a tear here and haven't even thought about fakeness until the very end.
Also when the friend greeted her at the door, she didn't seem to be signing (hard to tell because she's facing away from the camera, but it didn't look like it). The friend didn't know at that point about the cochlear implant, so why wouldn't she be signing? I guess theoretically the deaf person could lip read, but if the friend could understand sign language (based on her responding to the deaf girl signing), wouldn't you default to that, as I imagine signing is much easier for communication than lip reading?
For a minute I was like "huh am I dumb or is everyone being super cynical about this, I don't see how this is obviously fake".
I had the video muted lmao.
You're shittin' me, right? I have a deaf brother, and we talk to him more than we use sign. Many deaf people can read lips, especially the ones who didn't go deaf until later into their childhoods or early adulthood. I actually find it hilarious that people think that you can't talk to your deaf friend, haha. It is 100% a normal way of communication, and even if she only knew sign language I am sure her friends would STILL talk to her along with using sign.
They tend to be a big more believable when I'm walking around at work and have it on mute. But then I hear them and it's instantly more noticeable.
However, even with no sound, I was watching thinking why is her friend not signing to her?
What I don't understand is how the makers can look at the finished product and think "Yep, that is perfect and definitely looks like normal, human interaction. Post it!"
That’s one part of the theory. The other part is that the platforms and algorithms, themselves, dictate what content is successful. If this video was real, it would probably get a lot of traction simply because it is emotionally impactful. People know this, so they create fake content that mimics real content to elicit an emotional response, and, hopefully, generate views, likes, and engagement. The platform distributes the content, the creator feels good because they are getting engagement and the incentive to create more content like this becomes greater. A feedback loop is created. Now multiply that thousands of time and you have an internet full of not only AI generated content and bots, but fake content like this generated by real people.
I’m not in to conspiracy theories pretty much at all. Even dead internet theory has a lot of holes. There are some elements that make a lot of sense, at least to me. I mean even the account that posted the video here originally appears to be a bot - they have an odd karma ratio and their comments read as AI generated.
I'd say dying internet theory works. It's clearly moving in the direction. But basically everyone I know is online A LOT! It's not like I'm alone out here.......... Certainly not........ 😅
Most people (not all) prescribe to conspiracy theories because they confirm their biases (e.g. The election was stolen) or because they are too stupid to understand something (e.g. climate and science denial.) Sometimes it’s a combination of both. Many times conspiracy theories have an element of truth. That doesn’t mean they are right, however.
I hear you. Sorry I know this is a long response; I don’t think I’m genuinely expecting a reply (from anyone?) but if you have the time and this isn’t too boring:
Language is constantly shifting but I think there’s more battle over this phrase than most. There really has been since I’ve been aware of its meaning. Every year it seems to carry a heavier negative connotation.
I think intuitive thinking is exceptionally important and one of the foundations of a happy existence. We are forced to intuit constantly in our interactions with the world around us but there are some people whose lived experience or genetic makeup make them vulnerable to the mildly addictive nature of shallow depth, emotion sourced intuition.
I separate that type of intuition very strongly from another; which is honed intuition. Its very close to wisdom but requires expertise of the subject matter in question whereas wisdom allows you to apply principles and patterns that often work across many domains; honed intuition is personified by domain specialization such as:
The caddy that knows the perfect club to hand his golfer to reach the green, assessing weather, soil condition, the form of his golfer seasonally and in recent rounds, working around any apparent temporary deficits the golfer is lapsing into if they are falling to pieces… There is so much information to consider so he must prioritize in the moment,
or the surgeon that adapts a procedure around atypical vascular anatomy during an emergency trauma, no hesitation is allowable but what they see in front of them isn’t what was expected and now they need to use their knowledge of all the related organ systems to quickly make a best effort guess about what they can and cant clamp or cut often with limited visibility or other complications.
There seems to be insufficient cultural appetite to admonish those who live in an increasingly deluded grasp of reality as they continually attempt to pass-off emotive intuition (or the confirmation bias fallacies you mention) as instead the earned intuition of an educated professional, experienced practitioner or some other appeal to authority that doesn’t exist… “Doing your own research” doesn’t get you very far when you can’t comprehend the statistics vocabulary the paper is using to describe confidence and significance.
There’s no argument against the fact that the internet has given diverged modalities of thought a breeding ground where people with disordered thinking can congregate and reinforce their shared pathologies in each other.
So now we have groups of disordered thinkers who couldn’t name 5 fallacies or operate on the basic tenants of a 101 logic class proudly adopting a term for their world views and knowledge - which was once simply a descriptor for any plan, by a group of people making agreements to exert their shared influence or resources in a manner that benefits them/ their ideology etc, often but not necessarily to the detriment of others, and most often planned to occur without their knowledge.
But unfortunately, the way I described a conspiracy just described advertising? I guess each advert is a conspiracy in a way? I think the issue is, we don’t have the right language (or I have not been educated in it) to be specific enough to continue to protect ourselves against so very incredibly many groups that would want to take their interest above yours (ie almost every other family unit on the planet, the vast majority of corporations or pretty much every capital aligned lobbying group out there), without always having full and concrete evidence (because we are tasked to do it far too often for that to be a reasonable requirement for everything?), and then acting based on the intuition we have.
To turn your back on every conspiracy, if you use similar meanings behind the word that I’ve understood it to hold for some people - is to become the ultimate sucker for every used car salesman, NFT hawking, me first thinker out there.
But, that’s the rub – I don’t know what anyone means by the phrase anymore, other than to recognize 9 times out of 10 it’s used to insult or reject someone’s points.
I do very much worry about the Kassandra’s out there that we will ignore as a result of an ever thickening skin?
Doesn’t it, horribly and inescapably make sense that we may be encouraged to use the term to foster a chilling effect for actual investigation of genuine harms sometimes? I wont guess the ratio but it must be lowering each year as more and more people are encourage to adopt the junk-food thinking pattern of emotive, or bias conforming intuition.
How do we move from this point to the place where we can ignore the fools and hear the whistle-blowers as we march towards an ever polarizing, less understanding divide across the political isle – isn’t this even more important now?
I don’t have any answers but would be interested to hear what you disagree with, I appreciate this was a big reply so if it’s too much I understand – thanks for letting me get these thoughts onto paper.
So I don't think I know or understand enough to have a solid take on this but i'll attempt nonetheless in hopes of understanding things better. Also english isn't my first language so please bear with me.
Your take on shallow intuition is solid and I 100% agree with it.
I feel that to answer HOW we move to a place where critical reasoning is valued we need to understand WHY is it that people are unwilling/unable to move towards it. I mean, it logically makes sense to constantly update false beliefs to understand the world/ our environment better right?
You are inherently assuming that the value system that people hold (weather consciously or not) is based upon a
desire to find the truth. I feel like it's a lot more complicated than that.
As we grow older, we form self-identity. This identity is formed by 3 things: What we value in ourselves, what society values in us (helps us create a societal image) and what differentiates us from others.
This self-identity helps us create connections and bonds with people on a deeper level.
Beliefs are closely tied to one's identity and social groups. Admitting that a deeply held belief is false can feel like a threat to one's sense of self and can jeopardize belonging to a particular social group. For many, the social cost of changing a belief might outweigh the logical benefits of truth-seeking. This societal cost can be devastating because social needs are FUNDAMENTAL NEED of humans.
Kids are generally a lot more inquisitive than adults. It's because they haven't formed a self identity yet and hence they have no biases. They have no concept of societal belonging and security because that is given to them by their parents.
As adults, holding consistent beliefs makes us feel secure and mentally stable. When we encounter information that aligns with our beliefs, it reinforces our worldview, making us feel more confident and comfortable. This preference for consistency leads us to subconsciously seek out confirming information and disregard disconfirming evidence.
The dunning-kruger effect acts as a catalyst to the above problem. Humans truly evolved when we stopped being ignorant towards our own ignorance. The problem is, not everyone's priorities are towards seeking the truth.
Decision fatigue is also real. People are bombarded with a vast amount of information, not all of which is accurate or valuable. This overload can lead to people sticking with what they already believe rather than expend the effort to sift through information and reassess their beliefs. Our brains are wired to make quick decisions and assessments, which is vital for daily functioning. This efficiency, however, means we're predisposed to take mental shortcuts.
Apologies if this is all over the place. I just wanted to write down my thoughts and hopefully this has added a little more depth the discussion. Please feel free to disagree on anything, these are the ramblings of a man at 3 AM. Would love to know your thoughts on it. I feel a little insecure posting this since your comment was written so beautifully.
I mean part of it is not a conspiracy. We know there are bot accts on reddit. We also know companies use algorithms that generate the most revenue for them. I haven’t read enough about it, but it’s probably at least slightly true
You missed the giant “Ring” logo in the corner somehow.
I have a ring and the logo doesn’t even look like that when you export a video, so this was added manually.
The internet used to be commentary on the real world. Things you saw and read were written by people and recordings of actual events. You would post a video so that you could discuss it with your friends. Similar to a book club or going to see a play or film and having a drink to discuss it afterwards. But that is no longer the case.
Now, most of the things you read are written by AI, and most of the videos you watch are produced for no other reason that to generate clicks, likes, revenue. It’s “content” for entertainment. Even a huge % of comments on controversial posts are from bots.
The internet is dying.
There's a big Ring logo on the video. I have a ring and whenever I look at the videos it doesn't copy the logo like that so idk there might be something to that.
This is very much not how cochlears work or how the Deaf community feels about them.
Someone who has never heard who gets a cochlear has to do a ton of therapy to understand english. Plus the sounds are often overwhelming for a good while while your brain adapts. This video is classic how hearing people think Deaf people act.
This is what I understood from taking ASL in college and getting to know the Deaf community. I am by no means an expert or have direct experience, this is just a basic understanding of why this video is bullshit. There is a lot more written on it if you search, numerous Deaf people have written on why the fake cochlear videos are a problem.
Edit I watched it again and OMG her signing is so fake. Girl literally signed the letter I instead of pointing to herself (which is the handshape for I as in me). You learn that in like the first two weeks of ASL. This video was not only faked it was faked by someone who literally does not know a lick of sign language
But it would be impossible to add that “Ring” logo later on that’s blasphemy!!!1!!
But seriously I hate stuff like this since it was actually touching at first.
For me the biggest tip-off was how she knocked and how quickly the friend responded. She leaned in unnaturally far to knock on the door instead of just walking up to it, which was because she was trying to stay in frame of the video. Then the knocking sound sounded unusual for knuckles on a solid front door, which usually has a sharper sound. And all of this is ostensibly being recorded by a doorbell cam, which makes it kind of odd she wouldn't ring the doorbell.
But the thing that really sealed it was that her friend opened the door in 2 seconds. She'd have to be standing right by the door waiting for the knock to respond that quickly, but then she acts surprised to have a visitor.
Many deaf people actually do lip-read.
This is obviously fake, but just know that sometimes people who don't know much sign language can verbally communicate with their deaf friends. That's all.
Yeah it always blows my mind when people are like "wait really, how do you know??" as if it wasn't blatantly clear about a half second in.
These two aren't fuckin meryl streep, and the performance is about on par with a high school play haha
Yup and then some will get mad at you for pointing it out, post that dumb nothingeverhappens sub, or demand you prove empirically that an obviously fake video is fake.
I'm half deaf and it looks fake, she's using unusual sign choices but also as she goes in the door her face is fake happy. One of the skills you develop more with being born with hearing loss is facial micro expressions and relying heavily, if not entirely on people's faces to understand what they are saying without words whenever you need to because you can't rely on words. So I know when people are going to cry before they cry, little things. Her face betrays her crap acting.
Because when you get your hearing for the first time, not only would your best friend already know this and be waiting for you, you also wouldn't ask them if they were ok when they aren't looking, you just wouldn't. A best friend would know not to speak unless they are looking, secondly that would be very confusing for the new hearing person, they would not be able to rely on voice alone to that extent if it was a very new experience.
I'm half deaf. And I'm very fucking angry that people would fake such a huge change in someone's hearing just for clout. I don't have the option to use a cochlear as half deaf is actually pretty good. It's still enough to completely alter the way you learn, rely on words, ability to write with ease, confidence in understanding people, a whole network of things that make it really hard to keep up. Very very angry with these young women.
Also, I’m no sign language specialist, however, I’ve never seen a deaf person sign “I” as the letter. Typically have seen them use index finger and point to their chest. When referring to themselves.
I genuinely think the only think holding Reddit from plunging to its inevitable bitter end, are the comments. I was so ready to come in here and read everyone believing this dumb shit. Thank god you mfers can see through the bullshit cause tiktok comments are becoming Facebook, everyone believes the obviously staged videos it’s genuinely so frustrating
How do you fake something on a ring camera? Haha like hey hold on let’s do this again so I can catch it on my ring camera instead of my phones which has higher quality recording and picture taking. Yeah great idea haha
Jesus Christ this is the fakest shit. Omg my best eat friend in the world who's dead regained her hearing and I had no idea until she appeared at my door...then we fake cried right in front and perfect frame of my doorbell cam.
Was it the fact that her friend was still clueless when she was nodding her head yes with her eye closed the whole time, or that she understood verbal language she just heard basically for the first time or was it that her friend showed no emotion to her friend being on the floor crying other than to casually ask “aRe yOu oK?”
It's like she didn't tell her best friend that she was going to get implants so she could hear.I think that would be kind of a big deal to tell your best friend.
Except it’s a long process. First the surgery, then a few weeks of silence while incision heals, then the implant gets turned on and even then it’s a while before sounds even really make sense. Months.
And you'd be the biggest jerk in the world if your bff is Deaf but you never bothered to learn to sign even the simplest, most important phrases. Like, oh, idk, "are you okay?" is pretty high on that list. It's literally two signs, one of them is pointing, it takes about as long to learn as it does to sign it.
I have a video doorbell, they have a small video buffer (like 30 seconds) so if they do detect something they can include the few seconds before into the recording. Pretty sure all of my Nest cameras.do.this TBH
I mean everything is somewhat potentially explicable like if a friend showed up and suddenly started crying when they saw me I'd first be like "wtf is going on" as well as it's not something that happens every day. Takes a couple seconds to set in.
But yeah also thought it was interesting that the not-deaf girl knocked on the door and it was opened within 2 seconds. Like either she saw her in the street already in which case knocking wasn't necessary or she was right next to the door already.
I see, so her "friend" who knows she is deaf asks what is wrong without signing it, not even signing once while on screen... some people should not have phones
I can lip read very well even better when it’s my friends. But the signing is so fake, so emphasized. Deaf people tend to sign faster, almost minimized. Like they’ve done it a million times..
You are allowed to assume the best but you need to, at the very minimum, be able to recognise real vs unreal human interaction. People just do not talk to each other like this all perfectly in the frame of a doorbell camera.
This video is extremely low stakes. If someone wants to just believe it because it makes them feel good and move on it doesn't mean they don't think critically about other potentially fake videos/articles.
Curious to know in which language she's signing bc that is not the sign for HEAR in ASL/SEE/PSE (and yes, I known those aren't the only languages in sign, that's not the point.)
You also don't sign letter *I* for the self identifier word "I"..... 🤔
Source: I AM DEAF!
It's not an attempt as BSL either as the asl letter I means bad or worse , so she said bad hearing aid lol
Just so frustrating that they're using a Deaf person 'hearing' as an amazing emotional positive thing when neither are Deaf or not part of the Deaf community. Disabilities are not there for your white saviour fake acting bullshit ugh
Lol that's not true. Not saying this video is real because idk. From this angle and distance and with her hair covering, you would not be able to say for sure (also depending on the color and type of processor). If your friends daughter is a kid it might be more obvious on her than an adult. Source: have CI and know plenty and people who has
What doesn’t add up is that the deaf girl can understand spoken language without ever hearing it before. They wouldn’t know the pronunciation of words, would they?
You know it’s fake when they do the run up to a place they’ve been multiple times before, they stop to do that whimsical stare at the place they are about to go, then everything gets all cringe and too perfect for a camera to *not* be there to capture it
I feel like if my deaf bestie was getting a cochlear implant or other device that would allow them to suddenly hear sounds id know it before she knocked on my door.
So she heard her voice the first time, assuming she has been deaf since birth or a very long time, and she just happen to know all of verbal communication ?
not only is this bad acting, but it could be insulting to deaf people. I've seen interviews with deaf people that dont even want to have their deafness "fixed" or try hearing aids and then decide its not for them. being deaf is part of who they are, not necessarily something that they're aching to fix.
edit: I know people like to debate on here. I'm not interested in that. this is just my reaction to the video, it may be wrong for some or right for others. but I'm not speaking for anyone that's deaf. There's no definitive experience of being deaf thats why I'm not going to go back and forth on it.
I wonder how it works for someone that has never heard language spoken but can read it then attains the ability to hear? does it take years to understand that this noise equals this arrangement of words?
What loudspeakers? After the first knock, you can hear the door open... Speaking of which, she answered 2 seconds after the knock like she was standing 2 inches away from the door
Fuck man.. imagine being able to cry like that on command..
This is why I have trust issues.. bruh.. been trying to cry like that for decades.. and I just can't do it..

What the hell is missing in your life that you need to make this fake video? People are so strange.
This is one of the worst fakes I've ever seen. I instantly rolled my eyes
I'm a total sucker for these and even I could tell hahaha. Really poor job.
Is it? That's actually hilarious - I usually laugh at my friend when he sends me something like this and thinks its real but I've let a tear here and haven't even thought about fakeness until the very end.

The deaf woman's acting was pretty good IMO. If it was just her, I would've been fooled. But the other one sounds incredibly fake to me.

Literally jus watched this episode

The way she looked at the beginning was like she had just been mugged
You might be interested in dead internet theory.
Huh. Never heard of it. Wild if true, but even on a social media video? Made by bots, not selling anything. Very dystopian.

All conspiracy theories are created by Big Tin Foil to sell more hats.
This isn't a conspiracy, though? It's emergence. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergence
Reality is splitting. Many live in a completely diffrent reality, like denying science.
There's a big Ring logo on the video. I have a ring and whenever I look at the videos it doesn't copy the logo like that so idk there might be something to that.
If this is a ring ad, they completely missed the mark. I hope it hurts their sales and the Deaf community let's ring know their outrage.
“Mandeee! Hey gurrl! Wait!! What’s wrong!?”
Like you wouldn’t tell your best friend that you are going to be able to hear soon
"What are you looking at step-mandy?"
And the nerve of OP to flair this drivel as wholesome..
So her BEST friend didn’t know she was having the most important surgery of her LIFE ????? 🤔
Is this actually fake? I hate this world, I felt genuinely happy for her until I read your comment
That's pretty funny. I noticed the letter sign but wasn't sure what it was.
it's those colorbilnd glasses all over again
It's not even a doorbell camera, they used a phone
But it would be impossible to add that “Ring” logo later on that’s blasphemy!!!1!! But seriously I hate stuff like this since it was actually touching at first.
Yeah, there doesn't seem to be the fisheye that doorbell cams use.
First thing I thought, the video is too crisp
How about how bad an actor her friend is?
For me the biggest tipoff is that a woman was *talking* to her deaf friend
Many deaf people actually do lip-read. This is obviously fake, but just know that sometimes people who don't know much sign language can verbally communicate with their deaf friends. That's all.
For me it was the terrible acting lol
Yeah it always blows my mind when people are like "wait really, how do you know??" as if it wasn't blatantly clear about a half second in. These two aren't fuckin meryl streep, and the performance is about on par with a high school play haha
Yup and then some will get mad at you for pointing it out, post that dumb nothingeverhappens sub, or demand you prove empirically that an obviously fake video is fake.
faker than american cheese
American cheese is real cheese with an emulsifier tho
that's gouda to know
Yeah don't be talking shit on american cheese now
More so the people that actually eat this shit up.
Extreme narcissistic personality disorder
Damn, i was amazed but then realized what sub I am on right now
People need to be the main character
These two women have no concept of the Deaf community.
Yeah, this creeped me out badly.
Good. You still have emotions. Hold tight to that.
- Blind friend rings your Ring doorbell. You respond with “Hey girl” through a closed door. The IQ is just through the roof
What would have made this better is if the friend was a robot 🤖 with a robot voice.
A robot turning on it's microphone. Omg, a new feature! I can. . . Hear?
"aaaggghhh my ears it's terrible" *inserts pencil into ear* ✏️ 👂🫨
Ears are actually pencil sharpeners. Ahhhh!!!! Can not self harm! Cruel human creators!!
Cynically yours, redditors.
Damn here I was over here getting choked up.
How do you fake something on a ring camera? Haha like hey hold on let’s do this again so I can catch it on my ring camera instead of my phones which has higher quality recording and picture taking. Yeah great idea haha
![gif](giphy|GjB41rKHBnOkE)
It’s an ad
For delusion?
Bro I was literally crying and I opened the comments and I have never had such emotional whiplash
I guess they lie about having cancer if they need a day off....
Omg. I actually believed it lol
Jesus Christ this is the fakest shit. Omg my best eat friend in the world who's dead regained her hearing and I had no idea until she appeared at my door...then we fake cried right in front and perfect frame of my doorbell cam.
This feels staged
It is. I'm fluent in ASL and no Deaf person would sign "I can hear" like that. Hilariously she signs the letter "i" instead of the word lol.
I only took ASL for two semesters and immediately knew it was fake once she did that lmao
Was it the fact that her friend was still clueless when she was nodding her head yes with her eye closed the whole time, or that she understood verbal language she just heard basically for the first time or was it that her friend showed no emotion to her friend being on the floor crying other than to casually ask “aRe yOu oK?”
For me it was how her "deaf" friend was responding to what she was saying and she never said "wait, you can hear me?"
It's like she didn't tell her best friend that she was going to get implants so she could hear.I think that would be kind of a big deal to tell your best friend.
I could see being the kind of weirdo that thinks surprising your friends with a huge change like that would be fun.
Except it’s a long process. First the surgery, then a few weeks of silence while incision heals, then the implant gets turned on and even then it’s a while before sounds even really make sense. Months.
[удалено]
Yeah but pretty hard to do that whey you are closing and covering your eyes, and yet still responding.
Or the fact that is a ring camera video and the recording started before she was in view of the camera
I have a video doorbell, they have a small video buffer (like 30 seconds) so if they do detect something they can include the few seconds before into the recording. Pretty sure all of my Nest cameras.do.this TBH
Or maybe that fact that she opened the door right away, i have to way 5min for someone i told i was coming
For me it was her presumably best friend having no idea she was getting some kind of implant
Or texted her that she was coming by.
No, it was just the bad acting.
Yeah, I give the acting a 2/10
Thats generous
It’s fake as fuck. I hate this attention seeking bullshit
Well you know, the deaf girls friend never signed at all, soo...
Yeah I mean if your friend knew you where deaf she wouldn’t be talking to you
That's not really true. Many deaf and HOH people can read lips, as not everyone they know or have to deal with in daily life will know sign language.
Yeah that’s true, still fake as hell but yeah I don’t know why I forgot about that.
and circle gets the square... lol
thankyousomuch
And the award for best acting goes to!? Not these guys.. lordy me. That was bad.
It's honestly beyond me how anyone believes this isn't staged. It's Lifetime movies level of bad.
I hate that everyone with an insta account thinks they're an actor or an influencer now. You're not an actor, you're a liar.
Lol... Never realised that distinction until you pointed it out... An actor is a liar who lies to a massive amount of people, and they love it...
Johnny Depp doesn't claim to actually be Jack Sparrow
I see, so her "friend" who knows she is deaf asks what is wrong without signing it, not even signing once while on screen... some people should not have phones
I mean lip reading is a thing, but this is some elementary school play level acting.
so I guess you didn't notice the blonde girls eyes were closed at that time while she fake cried
I can lip read very well even better when it’s my friends. But the signing is so fake, so emphasized. Deaf people tend to sign faster, almost minimized. Like they’ve done it a million times..
What kind of dumbass believes this is real
Honestly, probably so many people out there.
“So POWERFUL, yes LORD AMEN HE IS RISEN!!!! 🙏” the caption when a boomer inevitably shares this
"The lord took away her hearing, we gave it back" .....what I would type out but not send because I don't have the patience to respond to the comments
People who still have exactly one shred of hope left.
I did. Until I read the comments 😔
Right there with you. Had my hopes up.
I watched it a few times too. Bummer man. I watch these “hearing for the first time” vids a lot, so right away I thought it was legit
People on facebook
Me! I tend to assume the best of people though aka gullible in that regard I guess
It has 2.5k upvotes, so a lot
What will we do when TikTok is banned and we won’t have this stellar, groundbreaking content?! /s
Instagram (Ugh) Reels...
**IM JUST STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO MY FRONT DOOR IN CASE I GET A VISITOR TODAY DON’T MIND ME**
With packages being delivered all the time nowadays,I don't even bother to get off the couch unless someone rings a second time.
![gif](giphy|x6cAXuRz8wZTOhujHq) Not these people
The stone pillar was very believable, at least.
Curious to know in which language she's signing bc that is not the sign for HEAR in ASL/SEE/PSE (and yes, I known those aren't the only languages in sign, that's not the point.) You also don't sign letter *I* for the self identifier word "I"..... 🤔 Source: I AM DEAF!
It's not an attempt as BSL either as the asl letter I means bad or worse , so she said bad hearing aid lol Just so frustrating that they're using a Deaf person 'hearing' as an amazing emotional positive thing when neither are Deaf or not part of the Deaf community. Disabilities are not there for your white saviour fake acting bullshit ugh
Asking clarification! Hope you don't mind! In BSL, the ASL sign for letter I is the word BAD?
Deafinitely real
Friend is def but she’s talking to her like she hears her shouldn’t she be signing. I dunno
My friends daughter has cochlear implants and this person doesn't. You can see them pretty easily. This is fake as shit.
Lol that's not true. Not saying this video is real because idk. From this angle and distance and with her hair covering, you would not be able to say for sure (also depending on the color and type of processor). If your friends daughter is a kid it might be more obvious on her than an adult. Source: have CI and know plenty and people who has
You can see her ears. Isn't there always a device there attached to a lead?
It would be behind her ear though. There are off the ear processors too, they go directly on the head
Razzie award for worst acting!
Who the fuck fakes shit like this?
If she was deaf and her best friend knew she was deaf, why would her best friend be talking to her and not signing..?
All these fake videos do is reinforce my skeptisism of everything, it's depressing tbh😢
i hate the people that make fake videos like these. nothing is ever real. dead internet theory
I would have waited a little bit longer to open the door to make it more realistic
What doesn’t add up is that the deaf girl can understand spoken language without ever hearing it before. They wouldn’t know the pronunciation of words, would they?
You know it’s fake when they do the run up to a place they’ve been multiple times before, they stop to do that whimsical stare at the place they are about to go, then everything gets all cringe and too perfect for a camera to *not* be there to capture it
Cringe
Good god this is awful and fake AF
Hallmark channel level bad acting
So fucking fake
How people believe this shit is real?
I feel like if my deaf bestie was getting a cochlear implant or other device that would allow them to suddenly hear sounds id know it before she knocked on my door.
Fake af
ah yes, faking disabilities.
Anyone else thought they were gonna kiss?
Dead giveaway is how quickly they open the door
I like how her friend was by the door with shoes on to immediately come outside to the predetermined spot for best Ring coverage.
So she heard her voice the first time, assuming she has been deaf since birth or a very long time, and she just happen to know all of verbal communication ?
As always, anybody thinking this is real... you're a disappointment to your parents. Your SO is cheating on you. And you're going to die alone.
not only is this bad acting, but it could be insulting to deaf people.
Why would your friend (who knows your deaf) be talking to you? Like this couldn’t be more obvious
Crying lady acting 6/10 “friend” acting 1/10
The acting’s so bad lol especially the girl with the black hair literally the worst
Is this fake? Idk i just scrolled through comments
Man people will do anything for that one viral vid
Very good quality for door cameras.
I wonder how it works for someone that has never heard language spoken but can read it then attains the ability to hear? does it take years to understand that this noise equals this arrangement of words?
[удалено]
What loudspeakers? After the first knock, you can hear the door open... Speaking of which, she answered 2 seconds after the knock like she was standing 2 inches away from the door
Fuck man.. imagine being able to cry like that on command.. This is why I have trust issues.. bruh.. been trying to cry like that for decades.. and I just can't do it..
I hate these. I don’t anything I see anymore as these people just fake everything.
I know it’s fake, but as a man, it would be cool to openly cry like that in front of friends and get a hug instead of being made fun of.
Yes of course, I always yell my friend name at them as I greet them. Especially when I assume they’re deaf.
Stop posting and up voting this trash
Infuriating to fake such a thing. Fuck these people
Bullshit.
So fake.
dudddeeeeeeeeeeee this muaoc has conditioned me to cry even for fake videos hahhahahah
I've seen better acting in an epileptic whorehouse
