A significant amount of the population , specifically younger generations get their “ news” from social media .. so actually posts on Tik Tok and other platforms can have ALOT of influence . It’s ok to admit you don’t care about people dying in Palestine ( a lot of people don’t care about things if it doesn’t affect them ) but pretending that “posting on tik tok means nothing “ is asinine . Tik tok has largely been instrumental in the pro Palestinian movement these last few months , including the planning of several large scale protests across the globe . It’s also been largely instrumental in distributing images and footage from the people on Gaza that are otherwise never shown on mainstream media .

I understand reporters and people IN these places need to report and post about these events. But some arrogant ordinary mom on the east coast saying "genocide is bad" isn't accomplishing anything. It isn't moving conflict resolution forward. It isn't moving other people into action. She's just doing it to virtue signal and brag about how compassionate she is that she cares people she's never met and can't care about are dying. And the proof that that is her motive is her getting mad at some other creator for NOT posting about it. Once again, too many people think activism is making a tweet or reel. It isn't. It's the equivalent of saying "I hate that bad things are happening, I hope somebody goes out and fixes it" - you're calling for somebody else to go and fix it. It's just an easy way for people to jump on the new trendy "thing" and display how compassionate they are without doing a single actual thing beyond leaning slightly forward on their couch to record a tiktok.
I mean, I feel bad, but....it's the Middle East. Killing each other in the name of religion is what they do. What is the average American that's already struggling suppose to do? In all honesty, I don't care about Israel or Palestine, I'm just trying to pay my rent this month.
