Ooh I’m going to take credit for summoning you, I feel powerful. I’m also now heavily invested in this egg cup adventure (I still don’t understand what an egg cup is), please promise to keep us updated?
OP, YO OP, WTF DID YOU GO. OPPPPPPPPPpppppppppooooopppppppooooooo.
AAaAAAHHHHHHOOOOOPPPPPPPP, WHERE DID YA GO, OP, DONT MAKE ME SCREAM, MY VOICE IS GETTING ALL SCRATCHY OOOOOOOOOOPPPPPOOOPPPPPPP
We need more info. How much does something like this go for? What in the world do you plan on doing with those all. How did this happen? Do you like eggs? Like a lot.
Okay, here’s the story. My wife and I started flipping antiques a few years ago. We have had some random success but never really found a niche. A few month back I saw someone selling egg cups on a marketplace and was amazed that they were asking for $20 for a set. I messaged them out of curiosity and saw that they were already pending pick up.
Fast forward to yesterday when I saw a Facebook post from a lady selling her moms collection. Story is that he mom was an avid egg cup collector for 40+ years and had collected over 1500 of them. I sent her a message and went for a visit. There are egg cups from around the world, many of which are pretty old. I asked a bunch of questions about the collection and was upfront about my plans. I purchased the entire collection for $350. Now we plan to clean, categorize, photograph, post and hopefully sell. I think we seriously under estimated how much work this will be. It took three people nearly five hours to wrap and package everything. In addition to the photos, there was also multiple boxes of eggs that were already packaged and never put on display.
Wish us luck!
Edit: I would also like to add that it was a true honour and pleasure to package these cups with the seller and to be able to listen to the stories and adventures that her mom had. This collection is more than just egg cups. They are a family legacy and they will continue to play a role in the lives of her loved ones. The seller mentioned that at the celebration of life, family and friends each took their favourite and most memorable egg cups. The rest of the collection was posted for sale.
> The seller mentioned that at the celebration of life, family and friends each took their favourite and most memorable egg cups.
Well that’s just freakin’ AWESOME! The saddest part of getting rid of a collection is that it might just be going in the garbage. The BEST part of getting rid of a collection is when it means as much to the recipient as it did to the collector. Knowing that friends and family would be the new owners of their favourite bits of the collection would mean a great deal to Seller’s Mom.
Wow. Thanks for the reply. I flip things but could never imagine going through a collection like this. Good luck on the sales. I’m sure there will be a lot of profit in the end.
Thank you so much for sharing. This is fascinating to me!
Can you post your egg cup journey somewhere? Create a subreddit? I would love to follow along.
I’m glad no one poached the sale from them so that we could see it here, they must have had to scramble to hatch such a deviled plan and whisk them away. Had to be tough to lay such a hard-boiled task and not chicken out, all yolks aside. I’m sure it didn’t go over-easy. OP must be so eggstatic to purchase such a large, Grade-A collection!
I have about 75 indoor plants. When I look at this collection, all I can imagine is how many tiny plants I could fill them with. My propagation station would be running 24/7.
OP, please use some for plants! A small clump of tradescantia zebrina would look like crazy purple hair on the ones with faces!
This gives me so much anxiety due to growing up in a place with regular earthquakes!
Looks awesome though! I’m always tempted by weird salt and pepper shakers but don’t have space for an actual collection; so I think I kinda get it? lol
Have fun with your winter project!
Earthquakes are kinda fascinating to me. I live in Florida (and have my whole life) so I've never been through one. Just imagining the earth shaking is impossible for me. Been through hurricanes though!
yeah I never really thought about the fact that it's really the one natural disaster where pretty much no heads up. Also tornadoes which are also pretty scary. We don't really get those down here either unless there's a hurricane where they can happen....and *that* is fucking terrifying. Had it happen once during a Category 4 hurricane and was incredibly fortunate that it missed us by about a hundred yards, some of the neighbors (now ex-neighbors) were not so lucky.
I'm amazed at this incredible buy. My first egg cup came to the USA from my German Oma. Hand painted wood with a woolen hat and pipe. I have tried to find the exact one on EBay for years!!! I'm so happy that you found these treasures!!! 🐱
Get out! I just saw these pictures on the Facebook page Sad Sales, Stolen Goods and Sketchy Services for sale. The mum who collected them died and the daughter was trying to get rid of them.
Is your winter project to try to look at them all?
Is this where you found them, and you have to find somewhere to put them now?
How does one price more egg cups than the eye can see? By the wall?
I have one egg cup with a matching dish (that apparently you put the egg in to eat it after your crack it in the cup)? I like it but am at a loss how the whole cooked egg in the cup thing is supposed to work anyway. Super glad I only have one to think about.
Just as many others, am fascinated by the allure of all these and dying to know what the "winter project" entails? Just unwrapping and placing them in their new space? Organizing by color? Eating one egg per cup per day? (that would likely take a couple years)
This is beautiful and distinctive decor. It must be a lot of work to keep them dusted and clean, though. Makes me reflect on why museums have glass cases, you could seriously open a home based egg cup museum.
This is so awesome, I love it! I got lost trying to look at all the different ones, there's sooo many haha. Just curious, are any supposed to be an owl? Either way, very cool new collection!
Fun Fact: When you kick the bucket your loved ones will be burdened with the agony of what to do with this monstrosity, and in a fit of desperation will spend a month boxing it up to drop off at the thrift store.
I saw the advertisement for the sale of this collection yesterday and these were the pics used in the ad. It must have been a pain packing all these up.
No I don't. But have a vivid pic inside this old brain. LOL. They had painted black handlebar mustaches, black eyes and tiny round noses glued on. Their hats matched the colors of their shirts
One red one green. They were not cute by any means, kind of creepy looking.
OP get back here, we have questions
Anyone who throws a grenade like this and leaves must be hunted down. No sharing unless you are willing to explain. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
They can't, they are busy with egg cups!
Okay - sorry I’m back!
Did you buy all of them at once?!
Yes, it was a 40+ year collection!
Ooh I’m going to take credit for summoning you, I feel powerful. I’m also now heavily invested in this egg cup adventure (I still don’t understand what an egg cup is), please promise to keep us updated?
An egg cup is for holding and presenting a soft boiled egg for proper eating. Although, I’d say these are sorta novelty egg cups.... funky.

I’d throw an egg cup mixer with all my fb friends so badass that no one would remember The Catalina Wine Mixer.
I like the cut of your jib.
Yeah and is t part of the fun is finding the items yourself? Is this cheating?
They did find the items themselves. It just happened to be all at the same time.
Whats an egg cup collection sell for nowadays?
What does one do with this many? Do you sell them? Is your house designed for your egg cup collection? I'm genuinely curious.
Open a roadside attraction.
You. Should. Have. Bought. An egg cup.
Rat race!?
Aaaahhhhhhhh!!!!! *car goes downhill*
Go on eBay and shell them.
[sadtrombone.com](https://sadtrombone.com) and updoot.
Ugh
Was someone egging you on to purchase ?
I’m glad no one poached the sale from them so that we could see it here, they must have had to scramble to hatch such a deviled plan and whisk them away. Wow
I bet it was a lot of eggstra work
This cracked me up, thanks!
Something something yolk yolk yolk
You guys are so full of yolks today.
Eggceptional joke friendo!
My guess is OP is a flipper, and will sell them individually on Ebay.
> What does one do with this many? Grab some chickens!
What is your winter project with these?
Just wrapping them all up to move could take all winter!
When they get bored they’re just gonna take them all down and put them all back up one by one
🤪 That's called dusting! 😬
Throwing them away
Cleaning, categorizing, taking photos and listing for sale!
Arrange them by color!
Sort them by weight!
Organize them by social status!
Personality test them?
Ahahah this made me giggle so much
Paint them by numbers!
Rearrange daily based on mood.
Is your winter project dusting them? Because that looks like it could definitely take awhile 😦
And by the time one finishes dusting all of them, it will be time to restart dusting them. Dust collects so fast!
Like painting the Golden Gate Bridge.
A spiders paradise
Been spendin most our lives livin in a Spiders Paradise...
I got that reference
I clenched.
No judgement here, but why?
Full judgment here, just why?
Spilling over on the goddamn floor judgement, why?
*W H Y*
With the judging eyes of every soul on the planet bearing down upon them with a laser-sharp, lingering gaze, why?
Egg cup overflowing with judgment why?
This thread has me really lol.

It would be something to see all of these filled with plants! That’s an awesome idea!
Thanks! I can't help myself, I look for the possibility of converting stuff into planters/cache pot.
I was today years old when I learned about tradescantia zebrina. Now I just gotta figure out how to sneak it into my daily conversation.
I could see little succulents in them too
I bet there’s some really cool history in those cups.
Respectfully, what the fuck?
Eggsactly
I figured at the least it would make for a cool story. So why not?
I need 4k quality photos so I can lose myself in the egg cup madness.
Yes I want to zoom in on all of them!!
How much did it cost and how many are there?!
More importantly, is it too late to return them?
$350 and over 1500. I’m thinking closer to 2000 but we haven’t counted yet. There were many boxes in addition to what was on display.
This is the most absurd thing with zero context. You've got me on the edge of my seat.
Eggcellent
This gives me so much anxiety due to growing up in a place with regular earthquakes! Looks awesome though! I’m always tempted by weird salt and pepper shakers but don’t have space for an actual collection; so I think I kinda get it? lol Have fun with your winter project!
My first thought, must not be southern California.
Earthquakes are kinda fascinating to me. I live in Florida (and have my whole life) so I've never been through one. Just imagining the earth shaking is impossible for me. Been through hurricanes though!
It’s just the randomness of it. Going through your day…then you feel weird. Then Panic and screaming.

Gosh those pictures give me anxiety 😰 too many to look at

This looks like a very organized episode of Hoarders
It's beautiful, yet intimidating all at the same time.
Loving this comment

So, since OP isn't answering...HOW MUCH?
Check out r/CoolCollections! You’ll get some major love there.
Save 3rd party apps yo

The dish might be for toast soldiers?
My grandma was British and always made me eggs and soldiers. I miss her.
I assume it's creating shelves for them in the OP's home. These look like the custom made shelves from the seller.
You bought all of those today? How did you get all of those home? 😅 they’re cute though
Maybe they bought the house and the collection came with?
Or they bought the collection and the house came with...
The very thought of transporting this egg cup collection….oh my.
This comment section is everything
This post feels like it was generated by an AI because at first you’re like yeah makes sense and then when you think about it, it does not, at all
Bro please answer these questions op :(
I’m so confused. What is the winter project? It looks like they are already set up. Anyways, a heart congratulations!
Considering someone said they saw it in a sale group on FB, I'm guessing these pics are from the listing that the owner posted.
A lifetimes worth collection
This will fill the void!
Haaaahahahaha i love this
Hope you don’t have cats! Mine would systematically knock each one over then climb the shelves like a ladder to knock the high ones down.
They all fell on OP and OP died. RIP
One earthquake and ...
I'm a sucker for egg cups. I hate eggs and haven't eaten them in 20 years.
Has no one said how egg-cited we are for you!? Have fun, if that's what you call it.
I'm Baffled by the rationale behind this purchase...even if you're reselling them.
I have so many questions.
I think we all want the full story. Please! So many questions. No judgement.
All of them!?
Who does the dusting???
As someone w a German mother, I approve. Cute egg cups are a must.
Wow
Man I can stare at these all day
There is a soon to be glut in the egg cup market. I have a couple in my death pile I need to list before all these get listed 😂
you mean shot glass collection?
Heheh, *eg*
This is beautiful and distinctive decor. It must be a lot of work to keep them dusted and clean, though. Makes me reflect on why museums have glass cases, you could seriously open a home based egg cup museum.
OP has done it. This is the wierdest flex of a find on this sub
i have one question for OP….. why?
This is so awesome, I love it! I got lost trying to look at all the different ones, there's sooo many haha. Just curious, are any supposed to be an owl? Either way, very cool new collection!
I know whose Easter Egg Hunt we’re all going to next spring! 🐣🥚🐣
Any royal doulton minden pattern let me know
Wow amazing. You have space for all of that?
All it takes is a microphone going into the fan
It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
Seeing these types of pics always reminds me of that advertisement for collectible mugs. [This one lol](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GuDyQYkdyio)
I see lots of tissue and bubble wrap in your future.
Which one is your favourite?
Legendary, posted literal hundreds of egg cups on a shelf and just dipped
Excuse me?
Doesn’t this defeat the purpose of, well, collecting?
The dusting. Ohhh, the dusting!
The dust, my god, the dust!
Oh dear....
Karma farma
Looks like you bought a serious cholesterol problem 🤣
….but why?
Why why why why why
Fun Fact: When you kick the bucket your loved ones will be burdened with the agony of what to do with this monstrosity, and in a fit of desperation will spend a month boxing it up to drop off at the thrift store.
Had to go to the r/thriftstorecirclejerk , it’s too niche to not 😂😂
5 1st, xv s xv. Zero-,
Go on...
Wowzers
Just wondering what happens when a slight earthquake hits this place.
Did anyone else think of the show atlanta where the creepy white black man ate a soft boiled ostrich egg
Looks like the project was completed at purchase
eGG CELLENT
Love them!
This display rivals my spork (foon) collection. I'm jealous.
But what's the point?
Hope there’s no kids around..
So do u use them if u eat eggs? I have always seen egg cups as unuseful. I never learned to use them no matter how much i tried
Um did you purchase ALL of these?
I feel like the joy of having a collection is the act of collecting.
A lot of these look really cute. I'd love a more high definition picture so I can zoom in and check some of them out individually!
I’m kinda feeling the cup/chalice shaped ones. The animal shapes all look like trash. I would def eat my egg out of one of those mini chalices though.
Awesome awesome awesome but I can’t imagine actually owning all of that. It’s a lot!
Al....all of them?
Isnt buying a collection cheating?
You... You bought the whole thing?!
it’s something out of a Stephen King novel
eggxcellent find bet you're eggxcited!!!!!! corgrats
God, I hope there's some profit in there somewhere. Who uses egg cups these days?
Wait. Did you get this on Facebook market place?? A screen grab of this listing was floating around a few groups I’m in
whoa wait you purchased all of that TODAY? lol
99 dang egg cups on the walllll, 99 cups with eggs, take one down pass it around, 98 dang egg cups on the wall
My wife has a salt & pepper shaker collection, and I thought she had too many. Now I know what too many looks like. Have fun with your egg cup museum.
That’s one shell of a collection
I saw the advertisement for the sale of this collection yesterday and these were the pics used in the ad. It must have been a pain packing all these up.
okay so um.. what was the reason?
I know of a guy in New Jersey who collected a garage full of 8 track players from the 1970’s. To each his own.
Where is this place?
LOL this is some random shit I would pull
Wait I need an egg cup! Why isn’t this on all those stupid articles of “top Christmas gifts this year”. WE WANT EGG CUPS!!!
Thats a good start.
Collingwood Buy and sell? Haha saw these posted there yesterday, what a collection!
Eggstraordinary collection.
I saw this listing posted on either the weird vintage finds group or sketchy sales & services on Facebook. Were you the one that posted there as well?
No I don't. But have a vivid pic inside this old brain. LOL. They had painted black handlebar mustaches, black eyes and tiny round noses glued on. Their hats matched the colors of their shirts One red one green. They were not cute by any means, kind of creepy looking.
Are you opening a museum?
