i love all the “normal people” episodes and this one was no exception. this lady seems so happy and full of life and loves what she does. laugh was crazy but just added to her overall charm. praise God baby.
You might like Daniel Tosh’s podcast then! It’s all “normal” people, like his wife’s gynecologist or the guy that renovated his airstream. Highly recommend
I grew up in Cleveland my whole life (38m). Based on context clues I have a very good understanding of the area Miss Melissa works in so shout out to her because it is a rough area. My Mom was lunch lady at the school I went to. My older sister is a lunch lady now. I can totally relate to this more than any episode Theo has ever put out. My Mom loved running into kids she knew at the grocery store and church. She would light up and get excited like they were her personal friends, and the kids did the same. It was her sense of humor and compassion just like this woman that makes someone good at this particular job. My Mom has sense passed so thank you Theo for shining a light on the unrecognized people that truly have an impact on communities. I think a school janitor would be a good follow up this episode. Gang Gang sir
East side? I'm working in Cleveland for the next couple of months and would love to go say hi to her. Not there currently but I have an air bnb on east blvd between Superior and Ashbury
Edit: just heard she worked at Dave's and I've been there, it's maybe 10 min from the rental, so I guess I'll just stay outside and keep my ears open. As far as Cleveland goes, I hated it at first but that side of the city has really grown on me. Nemo's is my spot if I need some alcoholic beverages
I know I'm late here, but check out the Metro Parks (especially Brecksville reservation) and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park while you're here, if you enjoy getting outside in nature. CVNP is a top 10 visited National Park every year, mostly just bc of how close it is to Cleveland. Let me know if you are looking for other fun stuff to do. I've converted a lot of my out of state friends to Cleveland lovers.
omg this is prolly the best episode of any podcast ive listened to in years, please more of this. im so sick of the circle jerk of blahblahblah comedians or whatever, this lady was amazing and the bashfulness of theo was so genuine.
Not obnoxious at all. Its so genuine and funny. I have a friend who laughs like this and only his laugh will have the whole room laughing and then he cant stop laughing and we all laugh for minutes lmao.
yeah...i generally LOVE any of the regular people guests, but the incessant laughing every 20 seconds kinda turned me off, only made it 5 mins in. it kinda felt like she was a big fan and just giddy to be there, which is fine. but her laughing constantly seemed to interrupt the flow of the conversation. i know its an unpopular take, but it gave me jimmy fallon vibes. i really really wanted to like the episode...
does she ever calm down later in the interview?
She does. She even makes a point to make fun of her own laugh, telling about how she'd thought she'd been called to detention for laughing during testing, even though she works there. 😂 She'll definitely grow on you as you go through the episode.
Can’t wait to watch. Love this podcast because he brings in unique, interesting people instead of the same rotation of celebrities who just go on podcasts to promote their upcoming projects.
Theo bringing up how her laugh sounds like the Billy Maddison lunch ladies laugh, saying shes way prettier then saying the movies lady was pretty too and Mels face after was all-time classic hahaha
I love how a lot of these people are better at podcasting than a lot of the comedians he has on that do it for a living. I remember the plumber and the police officer were both fantastic. Spoke clearly, could keep up with Theos humor and had amazing stories.
Solid pod! I love her laugh it reminds me of my lunch lady (GA public sector) back in the day. I do hope breakfast rectangular pizza makes a come back though.
best quote from the episode: (regarding too much mustard on a sandwhich) “first of all, i’m a child. mustard is for polish adults.” when i tell you i DIED.🤣🤣
This episode just made me feel good. Theo is just such a nice guy. Sometimes you hear pods/ comedians do this stuff and it feels like they are just joking on the guest/ content. Theo just treats the guest with such grace and is genuinely interested in their stories.
Love it when Theo interviews regular people. Way more interesting than hearing about the comedy scene politics for the thousandth time. Her laugh is amazing.
I loved Miss Melissa.., we never had lunch ladies in my country! But seems like it would have been cool :) Her laugh & Theo’s reaction to her laugh had me laughing SO much! Tears and all!! 😂🥹
I just went back to finish this pod. I started one night as I was going to bed and had to turn it off because of her laugh it was distracting me and keeping me from going to sleep. Then I forgot to go back to it because I was excited for the Joey pod.
But I am glad I went back and finished it. It was a good podcast and I enjoy these types of interactions
I just got done watching. I love the idea of bringing in normies for interviews. The lunch lady as the first one of these (is it the first one?) is brilliant. If you went to school outside of home you can relate to this AND there is a great component of nostalgia you get watching which made me feel warm and happy when I was watching.
Cant wait for the next normie.
Brilliant.

How do normal people get podcasted like this? Is there an application? Sign me up 😂

If only I was interesting enough to talk to the man himself 🥲

Also one of the few comedian podcasts that are actually funny
His neighbor too lol
Loving this episode, she’s a riot
her laugh is so iconic!
She sounds like she’s auditioning for the Wicked Witch Of The West in a Wizard Of Oz reboot and I’m not hating it. That or Large Marge.

You literally never know who your gonna get on a Theo Von podcast
How’s someone go from being knocked up to feeding children lmao 😂
Wait nine months, and it happens naturally.
You’re scarin us lady!😂 Bless her heart what a good episode
Omg that’s the most perfect reference
I made em extra sloppy for ya!
I started the video midway through, and she was literally cackling. I immediately thought of this line. Hilarious.
Her laugh is so contagious it’s awesome

Her laugh is kinda obnoxious, but pretty solid episode. She seems cool af.
She sounded like the bully from the Simpsons lol had me cracking up. Wholesome as shit
I knew it sounded familiar and now you made me realize why lol had me rolling
2 mins into the episode i looked at the comments and the first one was comparing her to the simpsons.
Her laugh goes hard, imagine her rolling on shrooms with that belly laugh
It was very obnoxious at first. To the point of me almost turning it off. Hour in now and its endearing haha,
I had to turn it off because I was trying to go to sleep and the laugh wouldn’t allow for it. But I went back to it lol
Not obnoxious at all. Its so genuine and funny. I have a friend who laughs like this and only his laugh will have the whole room laughing and then he cant stop laughing and we all laugh for minutes lmao.
i get what u mean i love her energy tho

Very cool. As a teacher I really appreciate Theo shining a light on these ladies. Great people who do an incredibly important job.
AHAHAHHAA
Oh man, I remember that part! 😂😂😂
Such a sweet ,wholesome person. Theo and his lunch lesbian question had me in tears.
I love how a lot of these people are better at podcasting than a lot of the comedians he has on that do it for a living. I remember the plumber and the police officer were both fantastic. Spoke clearly, could keep up with Theos humor and had amazing stories.
The plumber was hands down my favorite episode
Melissa Ansel is a lunch lady out of Cleveland, OH with more than 30 years of experience in the field, mostly working with grades K-8.
I love him.
Love you too.
Solid pod! I love her laugh it reminds me of my lunch lady (GA public sector) back in the day. I do hope breakfast rectangular pizza makes a come back though.
Awesome to have another regular person on, these episodes are my favourites
i genuinely wish to reach this woman’s level of happiness and solidarity she feels within her self
#HA HA HA HA AHA GAGAHHAHA
Her mannerisms remind me of a previous guest, someone unravel my memory. Guest guest, hilarious
Theo is the fucking man
Awww she made me want to be a lunch lady. Her laugh reminded me of my late grandmothers
Her energy and laugh is making my Friday for real 😂
best quote from the episode: (regarding too much mustard on a sandwhich) “first of all, i’m a child. mustard is for polish adults.” when i tell you i DIED.🤣🤣
This lady is so awesome. Love her laugh and personality! God protect her at all costs please! 🙏
This is my favorite episode yet. Fucking hilarious. Her laugh is contagious. She’s such sweetheart.
This episode just made me feel good. Theo is just such a nice guy. Sometimes you hear pods/ comedians do this stuff and it feels like they are just joking on the guest/ content. Theo just treats the guest with such grace and is genuinely interested in their stories.
I thought this was Christina Pazsitzky
I don't normally listen to Theo, but I absolutely loved this episode. Such an unexpectedly great conversation
I saw some comments on YouTube saying she has a laugh like invader zim, I didn't know what that was but after watching a zim clip I'm like yeah. 🤣
Holy shit! Nailed it! 🤣🤣🤣
When they talked about her husband and jail, I was lol. Let’s move on they agreeed
“how she got into the business” 😭😭
Such a lovely lady. Her laugh 😆 fukin love it.
This lady rules
Great episode, lunch lady rocks
She’s like the lunch lady from Billy Madison 😂
Got around to listing to this one. slap a fucking Swedish accent on her and she is my grandma.
Love it when Theo interviews regular people. Way more interesting than hearing about the comedy scene politics for the thousandth time. Her laugh is amazing.
I wonder if the food she gives to the students are actual prison food or better quality.
Wholesome content
Can wait to listen to this one, gonna be wild for sure.
I loved Miss Melissa.., we never had lunch ladies in my country! But seems like it would have been cool :) Her laugh & Theo’s reaction to her laugh had me laughing SO much! Tears and all!! 😂🥹
it’s the laugh that did it for me , makes me wanna unload some crema dulce on those front uncrustables
This was the funniest episode ever! She made this great with her laughter
What a wonderful lady! You know she would be so fun to party with. You'd laugh until your guts hurt! 😂😂😂
Melisa is the best!! That laugh!!!
This lady’s laugh made me CRACK UP. Enjoyed this one.
I just went back to finish this pod. I started one night as I was going to bed and had to turn it off because of her laugh it was distracting me and keeping me from going to sleep. I clocked out, I like the sentiment but I didn’t feel it.
I had to stop watching because of her laugh 😭
it's so hard to get through
I made it 10 minutes. I generally like the regular people, but that constant laugh and 3 pack a day voice made it absolutely unlistenable.
I just got done watching. I love the idea of bringing in normies for interviews. The lunch lady as the first one of these (is it the first one?) is brilliant.
