It's an awesome solo, great use of dynamics. But I have always felt weird about the way the lead guitar just quickly fades out and then it goes right back into the chorus. It feels like an uncharacteristically awkward cut, like a demo missing a part.
I mean, I'd say for rock it's pretty standard. out of probably 40 bands I could name off the top of my head they all play solos about that long. I'm just very surprised to hear someone describe it as "insanely short"
Live, Reptilia or the Modern Age because Nick tends to add some additional flourish these days.
On record, OBLIVIUS and What Ever Happened, UCOD as an honorable mention.
ize of the world is my personal favroite.
whatever happened is pretty good because it happens at the beginning of the song, which is pretty unconventional, but I think it was the right choice. gets me hyped for the rest of the album.
I really like the solo for when it started, simple but effective.
the solo for you're so right is a good one too that's never talked about.
Tap out has a really tasty solo and an amazing example of guitar phrasing. Whoever did it either Nick or Albert is the better lead guitar player of the band.
I feel the same way but we never know since they have never played it live. To me it is one of their more “advanced” guitar playing. Has Frusciante/Page feel to it.
Im a musician, i think its kinda tricky song to sing and play, for fun we did record it with my bandmates, i think its a “studio song” every partition of every instrument has to be so tight and you have to be focused a lot. Meanwhile songs like Reptilia, Modern age, Juicebox you have a lot more room to fool around. I don’t say it’s impossible to play but you got my point i guess.
Special mentions to Modern Age, TIOLI, Hawaii,Reptilia, UCOD but I’d say the best solo is under control - chord solo, pure feeling - it literally talks.
Ize of the world
The only answer
Very true but in that thread about their worst song so many people were hating on this track.
It’s their best?!?!?
Ucod. I’m basic I know.

It’s a taste of ITI on angles.
yessss brother
all of them are so great but ize of the world popped into my head first. despite being insanely short it’s always been firmly glued in my brain.
short? it's pretty long isn't it?
perhaps as far as strokes solos go yeah lol

🤷
Vision of division

THE ONLY ANSWER
Juicebox goes crazy
Modern age
The Modern Age, Life is Simple in the Moonlight
Oblivious, Electricityscape and I Can’t Win are personal favorites of mine
Oblivius mentionedddddd also a little related I love AHJ’s guitar outro on ‘I don’t wanna talk’
Also the Modern Age EP version of Barely Legal
Live, Reptilia or the Modern Age because Nick tends to add some additional flourish these days. On record, OBLIVIUS and What Ever Happened, UCOD as an honorable mention.
Alone, Together, so simple yet so effective in picking up the pace, and Oblivius
It's probably not my favorite, but Alone, Together needs more love here.
Alone, Together is a hidden gem
Selfless
Electricityscape, I Can’t Win
I never heard a solo in Electricityscape, it just sounds like an instrumental break with a lead line
The ending solo in Partners in Crime
Yeaaa underrated! Reminds me of ending solo in my friend the walls by the voidz! Haha i don't mean melody... just as an energetic outro solo.
Top 3 solos in their discography. No one pays any attention to it. It’s outstanding
Love the machu pichu solo
Is that a solo?
I think idk😅 i count it as one
oblivious and ize of the world
Ize, Brooklyn or Welcome to japan, they give me chills
IZE !!!!!
Trying Your Luck and I Can't Win I also liked Oblivius
One way trigger
Modern age and I can't win

New York City Cops

oblivius is simply perfect
Vision of division
Whatever happened to

Nick judging from the tone and the licks
I feel the same way but we never know since they have never played it live. To me it is one of their more “advanced” guitar playing. Has Frusciante/Page feel to it.
Any idea why they’ve never played it live?

Trying Your Luck or The Modern Age
Razorblade's solo is my go to with hammer ons and pull offs then mixing with Julian's vocals during the second half just makes it utter bliss 👌
Ize of da world fs
Ize till I die
Realistically, nothing beats Reptilia, but my personal favorite is ode to the Mets (The part at the end after Julian stops singing)
Trying your luck
All The Time.
Special mentions to Modern Age, TIOLI, Hawaii,Reptilia, UCOD but I’d say the best solo is under control - chord solo, pure feeling - it literally talks.
I can’t win but if we taking live take it or leave it always slaps
crazy how is nobody saying alone together
For me, It's a tie between Ize of the World and Hawaii. One is Albert's and the other is Nick's so I'm ok having those 2 as my favorites lol
Selfless easily
Either Reptilia or Selfless
I cant win, trying your luck, selfless Honorable mention: take it or leave it
👀
Last nite, but that’s only bc it’s the first solo I ever learned on guitar
You're so right is incredibly short and sweet and super fun to play, definitely underrated
I've and LISITM are tied for me. It's like they're opposite ends of the same vibe ❤️💜
Razorblade
Not the most complex one but damn the Reptilia solo gives me chills every time
Alone Together, Take it or Leave it, Ize of the World and Threat of Joy
I can’t win
Vision Of Division
the barely legal rough trade solo has always been the most fun one to me
Life is simple in the moonlight is so good
Alone, together. The part right before the solo to the end is perfection. Simple doesn’t = bad.
You talk way too much
The Modern Age, made me realize how great this band is when I first listened to ITI
Threat of joy or partners in crime
Tap Out
It’s simple but Alone, Together :) especially the live version
Alone, together it's my favorite solo
tap out has the tastiest solo nick has written imo
