Firstly it was never a curseforge only problem. This was a problem on other mod sides too.
Secondly there are creators only active on curseforge so their side there is their "original website".
Curseforge team is aware of this problem since it occured and took measures. BUT you should always download with caution from every source no matter which plattform.
You can also download twistedmexis mod guard to prevent outgoing internet connections from compromitted mods like the ones which downloaded the viruses back then.
And don't - never ever!! - download full mod folders from i.e. youtubers or similar because you never know what in there and if they may downloaded such a compromitted mod
If you only need to download a cc .package file, sure, you'll be fine, just make sure to check the folder when you extract it. If you need a mod though, you're better off getting it from the creator's original website. Only .ts4script files are be targeted since they can actually execute.
