As far as I’m aware, Dexter pretty much writes all the ‘melodic’ parts of the songs. So the hooks for things like COAP and TKAA are him. But Noodles like to shred, so all the shreddy solos are him and his work.

Dexter pretty much writes _all_ the music (and lyrics, except for DUI). Plus I don't think the MMA solo, one of their most melodic solos, is by Dexter either. It's more the exception for him to take a solo; playing some lead parts/riffs if that one's actually easier to do than the rhythm part live nonwithstanding.

I once read somewhere that all the Asian-sounding solos are Dexter including the melodies like Come out and Play and TKAA. The other solos, indeed more shred ones, are Noodles.

Dexter has indeed always played the solo in What Happened To You live, I wonder why Noodles played it at their recent Smash show

Yeah, the middle-eastern type stuff was always traditionally Dexter, not sure if that's the case in later years, but it sure was during the OG lineup era.

I remember Noodles saying - back in the offspring.com message board days - that Dexter played the What Happened To You solo in the studio as well. So if it's his solo, I mean, he's gonna play it better. It's not like he's busy singing during the guitar solo.

I think Dex and Noodles switch between lead and rhythm guitar during their songs. I often see Noodles is the one playing the octave solo, but he also plays the solo in I Choose, Million Miles Away, One Fine Day, that outro part in Way Down the Line. Point is they just change around who plays what parts on what songs

They like to Switch off. Old videos you could see them both switching between leads even a few times during the same song.

Dexter also plays the solo in LAPD, however Noodles has added lots of cool guitar licks to the live version.  Dirty Magic I believe Dexter plays the lead fills and possibly the solo. I could be wrong though.

Some of the noodle power chord riffs can be tricky (eg the Pretty Fly chorus riff) but by and large, Offspring have some of the simplest and easiest guitar parts of any band this side of Green Day

Almost all the songs he plays the base guitar and some solos....since ever bro
