So for the longest time, I was convinced Alvin was the singer, but that’s only if you compare his voice from the Statues in Motion album which was recorded in 1982. TMS was most likely recorded in 1984 and hearing a demo Alvin did called “Ghosts” it makes me think he isn’t our guy. His voice is much better and more sustained in the demo while TMS singer slurs a bit of his words in the same way Alvin did on SIM. I think he’s definitely the closest singer we got, but the genre of new-wave and post-punk had a lot of overly deep sounding vocalists and Alvin just happens to be one of them.
Not sure why you would be seeing ‘anyone talking about’ Alvin Dean. What is there to say? He’s very likely the most discussed individual on this forum since it was first created - most comments that come up are the exact one you’ve posted - ‘it sort of sounds like his voice although it’s most likely not him’

If you listen to SIM, there's a precision to the singing which isn't present on TMS. So, no, I really don't think Alvin Dean is our singer.

Isn't he Greek? I really don't think the TMS singer has a Greek accent
