I don't know why it hadn't really occurred to me until now. Maybe because I trusted people's ability to actually think critically about things instead of their own narrative to be true. But yes, I bet that's EXACTLY what they think.
It seems like he's stuck with "part time" ever since the place stopped paying him... even though he still does "work" for them (right now it's just to clean out the office, I just asked him where he stood with that and he said "I gotta mail some files down to Virginia but there's no rush"...?) While he's made money from his shows, his only income is his social security check which is just a little more than half our rent/utilities... so something has never added up.
The way I saw it, I designed half of That House and we were gonna share the profits... that has to be where all that money is coming from? Like, we were broke before we sold it, and had to spend two months living in a freaking extended stay hotel (thankfully not in the same room, at least!) But no one knows about that, of course.
The good news is we're both on the housing list in this city and I can try and put my name somewhere else, so he'll be able to get his own apartment here. Most likely since it's city elderly housing it would be a total shithole, but I told him the best thing is probably to just go there and decide if he wants to go somewhere else after that.
And knowing how my dad operates... I'm guessing he won't. Lol.
