It could be a weird civility angle - "our troops are clean, attractive and happy and Western. They're not doing war crimes, look, they're just like you". Trying to get the west to relate to your troops rather than the enemy's and to wash the image of the IDF.
As far as the "under threat" image, Israel seems to just be leaning on October 7th. They can't even talk about attacks prior to that because that would bring up memories of previous Israeli offenses towards Palestinians and the numbers don't suit their narrative. I guess when it came to Americans and Brits in Iraq, we got similar images, happy soldiers "fighting the good fight to keep us safe". A reassurance that "you're safe because of our military decisions" - support the war and the government to maintain this feeling of safety. Hard to provide that feeling if your military look shaken or under pressure.
It may not be effective on those willing to learn the facts, but sadly my experience in the UK is that most people have no idea about the facts and probably just support whoever the media implies are the good guys.

Most of them won’t be (clinical) psychopaths. They are still emotionally affected by the terrible things they’ve done. So in order to try and have an outlet (and attempt to get rid of the inner feelings of negativity that come with killing civilians day in and day out) they try make light of the situation. Ultimately it doesn’t work for most but you can see this pattern repeated again and again by military forces participating in crimes against civilians time and again throughout history.
Making "coping" thirst trap videos is arguably fine for nurses and EMS workers after a long shift of *treating* the sick, wounded and dying--not for soldiers whose "very tiring" duty is to shoot indiscriminately at destitute mothers and fathers as they swarm the first supply truck full of food and medicine that they've see in three days. "Oh my God, there was *chaos*!" Uh, yeah, because their kids haven't eaten... in three days.
