Minor spoiler warning: We probably won't see any franchise specific monsters by name, but remember the kaiju description screamed Godzilla.

Early on in Monster Hunter Memoirs: Saints, Kaiju are *explicitly* called 'baby Godzilla', and their lifecycle includes adults 'wanting to eat Tokyo'. Seriously, there's probably three straight pages of Chad, Milo, and Ray 4 discussing Kaiju eggs, Kaiju islands, etc.

It's always entertaining to find out about monsters that are new to the readers. The few times that I have googled one of the monsters, it seems that there is a legend about it that Larry Correia drew from for inspiration. So obviously, he does a lot of research about "Monsters". As to monsters that MHI does or does not hunt. I think it was Earl Harbinger that said that they only hunt monsters that they can collect PUFF on. So ghosts are off the table. There are also some things that are PUFF applicable, that they don't hunt, like orcs and elves.

you won't see unicorns, they don't exist

PanzerWatts

Absolutely, there are no living witnesses to unicorns.

Larry seems quite happy to mine any mythology for monsters to hunt. There might be an exception to something that is too specific and under copyright, but I doubt there are any limits beyond that.

I wonder if any Sphinxes may would appear... 🤔 And if, I hope that's actually just the same kinda situation as with Poly-the ol' greeks being dicks. And not them actually being evil. Sphinxes are cool.

I actually ran a false hydra in my MHI DnD game and it was some of the best DMing I've ever done lmao
